  1. I fail to grasp how debating the contents of the first post could possibly be considered "off-topic", unless you're simply claiming all posts disagreeing with you are "off-topic", since you don't really decide what is and isn't allowed in your thread, the rules do. And I'm pretty sure the rules tell me that I am within my rights to post here to say I do not like your idea for given reasons.
  2. At the end of the day, the reason they do it is moot, irrelevant, semantics. The only thing that matters is if they ultimately do it or not, and if it's something one could justify doing. Shooting on sight can be argued as logically sound as it IS the safer option and there are no "rules" being broken by doing it, so as far as you're concerned, they were just looking out for number one.
  3. If they can't survive alone, then they WILL die, and eventually change their approach. No action is required on your part.
  4. I don't get why everyone is treating it as if it's some plague. It's not. It's simply a preference, and a valid one. There is a reason why most people do it; it's safer. Not shooting on sight is a risk with a reward. KoS is a safe option with drawbacks. There's no reason for anyone to even attempt to subjugate KoS; If people want to shoot on sight, that's their call. If people don't, then it's their call. I see no point in trying to make it appear as if it's a "problem", thereby alienating players who do it. And BoneBoys' post reminds me; Not everyone is playing to make friends with whomever they meet. They're playing to survive. Tell me why they deserve to be viewed as assholes, or a parasite on the community for doing the core objective of the game?

Why We Need A Release Date

Right, So tell me why we need it done soon? Why do we need to game to come out before a certain time? Simply put, we don't need a release date, we want a release date, and so as it is not an undeniable fact that we NEED a release date, of course there will be people saying that we don't. So there's no point in telling people their opinions do not count.

Why We Need A Release Date

I'm going on the assumption that your whole post is on this. Nobody is saying that they don't want a release date. There's no reason nobody would like to have a release date. No, the question was (and you can check the title as you have put it), "We NEED a release date", which we simply do not. This is coming from both people who have and haven't played the Pre-Alpha, Admins and mods and regular members. There is simply no need. Just like how I do not NEED a 42" Television, but I sure as hell would really like one and it would be very handy.

Why We Need A Release Date

This is not at all true. The only way that this discussion could be biased is if you cherry-picked the people whom you are considering as "valid", which is what you are doing. ALL of us forum moderators and support admins are just players like you who look forward to the game. The only difference is that we promise a bit of free time to the forum, and if you think we're all playing the pre-alpha as if it's some brilliant and enjoyable near-complete game you are insane. I chose not to play the pre-alpha simply because I'm aware of how bare-bones it is. It's obviously not a game at all at this point, it's just a test. Now you are certainly on the wrong site if you're trying to start a serious debate AND try to dictate whom can and can't express their opinion. I'm really tired of this "Oh he has a staff spot, therefore they are forced to be positive about DayZ" rubbish that is being spread around here, and I'm beginning to see it everywhere. I do not remember agreeing to become a puppet of the devs for my position and I'm sure as hell the same goes for the rest of us. Nothing will make me lose respect for someone faster than disregarding a genuine, valid opinion for a reason as comical as that one.

Why We Need A Release Date

Guilty. Playing GTAV as we speak. It was a gift.

Why We Need A Release Date

But logically that would not make sense. A deadline will not directly affect someone's capability (excluding the debatable speed in which they do it, I.E having a deadline isn't going to make you better at coding or art) and since there is no reason to get the game out before a specific date, all that a deadline is going to do is prevent that free time they could use to innovate upon their current build. There is a massive hype to live up to, here; having less time to perfect features or work up new ones to make a game worth all of the hype is certainly going to cause stress.

Why We Need A Release Date

First off, as Inception. has said, people will still complain even with a release date. You'll see people posting about why the "Sudden release date shows the game is rushed", people complaining that being forced into a release date means they've given in to pressure and are disappointed, people claiming that DayZ is still somehow a scam and this release date is just another "part of the plan"... I think you get my point. Secondly, Whilst it is true that you are more likely to do something faster if you set yourself a shorter deadline, but do you know what you'll get alongside that faster completion time? Stress. Tonnes of it. And in this situation, there is NO need to have it done soon, there's no real benefit to the team to get out out early in place of working on it, it's simply the impatience of others that is causing this need for a release date. I would imagine the team is small, so stressing them out is only going to cause complications, for no gain.

    i got banned!

CD Key in use is when someone is playing using your CD-Key. This means you have downloaded something that has stolen your key. Either way, we can't help you here. Contact BattlEye.

    A Noob Confused (Pls Halp!)

DayZMod is as you stated, a mod of ArmA2, so you'll need ArmA 2: Combined Operations for that. DayZSA (StandAlone) is going to be its own game. when it's released, you just buy it, download, and play.

    ETA on Standalone Release?

It was revealed to be a scam in order for Rocket to cash in the internet hype for free internet toasters. But seriously, no ETA.
  14. Okay, now the majority of people posting here about their Global bans (Despite the fact that they shouldn't because we're not BattlEye) seem to be shocked to discover nobody immediately trusts them when they tell us "I swear, it was for no reason! BattlEye are crazy!" Well, you see, that's what they all say: That was from the first few comments on one video. I have found dozens more. We simply have NO reason to believe that BattlEye bans for no reason and there's hundreds of legitimate bans on people claiming they do in addition to the millions of people who play DayZ legitimately that haven't been banned to prove that. All you have is your word. But your word doesn't even matter here. Because we're not BattlEye. Even if we did believe you, we couldn't do anything about it. Also, found this for the lulz:

    Writer's Haven

Those sort of things happen rather often in the Survivor HQ. I know I've seen a thread before asking for people to post character bios, and there's stories in there all the time. Roleplay, however... I don't see how it'd fit in that well, here. I'm not against it, though, they're enjoyable to just read, but I don't think there'd be too much interest in it from the community. Still, I like the suggestions you're providing.
  17. If you mean store loot in one place, and retrieve it in another, then no. That would make no sense realistically. The only sort of storage is in Tents and Vehicles, which stay on that server, or the items in your inventory and bag, which carry across all connective hives (all Public hives are connected to each other, and all private hives are either not connected to any or are only connected to a few others, depending on who is hosting them). Also, welcome to the community. Feel free to PM me if you need anything.

    DayZ Streamers

I personally enjoyed SkinBintin's stream. Not well known, but very active.
  19. Well, I certainly have plenty of material;
  20. I have no idea who that was directed at.
  21. I like the fact that they're genuinely pissed as if they literally didn't do anything.

    how to fix global ban

Global Bans are issued to players who are caught hacking. They are issued by BattlEye, not us. Contact them.
