I was moreso referring to friends not playing the game.
-
Just saying, if I had to shut off communication with all of my friends just to add a little bit of realism to a game, I wouldn't play it at all. It's sacrificing a major convenience to quell a minor annoyance.

There is no reason to delete the account. Just don't use it.

This depends on your type of ban, and on which server: Public hive Admin ban - provide server name, your player name and/or guid and details of the incident Private Hive Admin ban - consult the personal forum of that server host with the server name, your player name and/or guid and details of the incident, failing to find a site for them, put the server name in your topic title to catch the attention of any of their admins Global Ban (Public or Private) - Contact BattlEye support as nobody else has any control over Global Bans.

Diamond camo cookies with suppressor and ACOG scope.

Good idea, though I notice one hole in your plan to end all "Can I run it?" threads, and it's the same reason we have "wtf im global ban" threads; people do not look before posting. Despite that, this thread is still pretty handy, so good stuff.

We do not handle Global Bans. Speak to BattlEye.

VirusTotal vs DayZ Commander
Rage VG replied to Dancing.Russian.Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's pretty much how you make money from your program when it's entirely free. Those downloads take a lot of bandwidth, they don't get to be picky with what adverts they take. I don't like the crapware either but you're going to get it with most free installers, and it'll only install if you fall for the tricky way they go about it. Take, for example, when it gives you a load of checkboxes, three buttons (Accept, Decline, Next)says "Press Next to continue", but also says "By pressing next you agree to install this software". You would think that pressing decline would cancel out of the installer, so you just untick everything and press Next. Accept and Next are both the same thing, but with the way it's laid out you just hit Next anyway. -

What's the first thing you'd do in DayZ Standalone?

Give me one logical reason why gear destruction will delay KOS
Rage VG replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The hilarious exaggeration that it'll stop everyone KoSing is very similar to the hilarious exaggeration you are making by saying that people actually believe something like this would completely eliminate a legitimate element of play. Yeah, okay, we get it, you aren't interested in people's gear and you kill people for the sake of killing people (despite the fact you think that this devalues the game to simple deathmatching, at which I can't help but be puzzled), so this update won't bother you. But to say that because of that, the update makes no difference is basically saying that if it doesn't directly affect you then it won't affect other players, which is also hilarious. Unless you know that it's going to affect other players in a variety of ways, in which case you already had your answer before you created the thread. -

Your experiences and playstyles are not universal. Whilst YOU might not be affected by it, others might. -

We cannot ban administrators on their own private hives, as we do not own them. Simply make a note to never visit again, and check out another. -
An open alpha doesn't mean free. It just means an unlimited amount of people can participate.

Dean is rounding up SA client for release
Rage VG replied to HumanBeing25's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Meh, it's all about convenience. I posted it right there as to be convenient, and now we won't have to deal with posts such as "Can anyone verify this?" or "I call BS". I'm hoping your initial hypothesis is correct. -
Dean is rounding up SA client for release
Rage VG replied to HumanBeing25's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just to verify that he actually did tweet that, as people have been known to make it up in the past. Although I'm still on the fence as to its meaning. -
Seems a tad too Sadistic to me, but maybe brutal murder's just not my thing.

What will happen to our forum accounts when SA comes out?
Rage VG replied to NagsterTheGangster's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It had too much sugar. -
No release date. That december announcement was last year.
-
Rocket has already stated he is more interested in going into complete detail in the game as opposed to releasing early to "cash in" on the hype.

If you make the environment harder in an attempt to enforce co-operation, players will have greater difficulty accruing gear to survive. This gives further incentive for me to hypothetically shoot you in the back of the face and take your gear instead of trying to get it myself. Also, this is a point that has been brushed on far too many times, and another topic on it hasn't really shed any light on it.

Time we do this ourselves, fighting back against the KOS
Rage VG replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As you said, killing "fresh spawns" is also not a "problem". However, the community has taken their own obligation to take these people down as it falls in line with their moral standings. That is the beauty of the game, that if you decide to do something, you can do it. People can kill fresh spawns if that's what they want, and people can shoot them for that reason. I too would shoot someone hunting fresh spawns. But I do not condemn them for it on the forums. That takes the game out of the game and defeats the purpose of making your own choices which is what the game is about. If this thread was simply about the OP expressing disdain for KoSers and proclaims they decided on a plan to do something about these type of people, then that's great. I personally wouldn't be interested in taking part but I'd like the idea of someone trying to start a motion for peace. But attempting to essentially alienate people who do play like that by making seem like it's "Us vs Them" (Which is evident by the title) and that they are not the same part of this community is a different story, and one I am not behind. Partially because it's not going to work since you've eliminated the possibility of "converting" a KoSer as you've already stated you don't consider them a part of the same community, but you're also losing the support of people such as myself because of that, but majorly because it just isn't needed. You just don't need to act as if these people are actively trying to destroy the game and should be looked down upon. A simple "I want to try and dissuade an immediate 'shoot on sight' mentality by doing this, this, and this" is all you need to get people behind you. When it gets to "These people are making a different choice to us and should be condemned for it", you're just starting witch hunts. Now, the reason is irrelevant because I am looking only at facts to avoid biased opinion (Since I do not shoot people on sight I would opt for people not to shoot me neither, thus it would be biased), and when all is said and done, the facts are: 1. You encountered another player. 2. You decided not to shoot them. 3. They decided to shoot you. 4. You are then presumably killed. You cannot prove that their motive was "dethmatch lulz!1", therefore it is not a fact that they kill for this. If you NEED to look deeper into it, you'd find that they'd kill you for these reasons: 1. As you said, for simple deathmatching. Some people kill for the sake of killing. Arguably it's just banditry. 2. A want/need for supplies, and wanting to guarantee they got them at any cost. They're not going to refuse to give you their last blood bag if they're dead. Literally just banditry. 3. Fear/paranoia/anxiety. They can't shoot you in the face if you shoot them in the face first. Better safe than sorry. 4. Roleplay purposes. Could fall in line with any of the other three, or they're just making up a story as they go along. That's what the game's about. 5. By mistake. Perhaps they're looking for revenge and mistook you for their target, or they mistook you for a simple zombie for some reason. As you can not prove or disprove that the person in question is killing for any one of these, it's a 20% likelihood that this person kills you just to annoy you as opposed to a genuine purpose. So why would you claim that the statistical improbability is the root of this "KoS mentality"? If anything, the reason behind the killing works in favor of the whole "Do nothing about KoS" argument. But as I said, despite it being a strong likelihood that it's a genuine reason for the KoS, it's still only a likelihood, and not a fact. So if we're discussing IF it should have something done about it or not, then it really doesn't have much of an impact on what we're discussing. If we were talking about why people KoS and why we should stop it, then that's a different story and I'd probably be willing to accept that angle on the thing, but the OP has made it clear that he wants to discuss stopping it regardless, so I don't feel we need to press on that part here. -
Time we do this ourselves, fighting back against the KOS
Rage VG replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And I repeat, what I was discussing was on topic. You are saying you want something done about KoS, and I am rebutting by telling you why I think nothing should be done. It's entirely on you to reply to my post, so if you feel it's something you don't want to reply to then feel free not to. Really, the only way the thread is being derailed is by you telling me I'm derailling it. -
I'm pretty sure that "finishing the game we've been pouring all of our time into for millions of people globally" is a pretty solid goal. Setting a deadline on that is rather unnecessary from that point of view.
