Because either your old CD-key is still in use, or whatever hack/mod/addon you downloaded stole your second CD-key too.

Should I wait for standalone to come out?

ARMA II is worth the money even without DayZ. -
The most annoying thing about private servers..
Rage VG replied to crockett (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Look for one that has established multiple servers. They are more likely to then create another server for a different map than change their other ones. Multiple servers would also indicate it's at least somewhat successful therefore meaning it's less likely to shut down. -
Try other servers. BattlEye has stated that nobody is banned for the passive effects of a cheater (I.E the weapons they spawn in), so if you can't get into the server, you should be okay on others.
-
Depending on how popular the server is, it will be incredibly difficult to find a car. Trust me, they ARE there, so it's not you.

I believe this is the first time I find myself quoting you to agree with you. beanz4u

OMG!!! I just shot down a heli with a Makarov WTF! (fixed)

Those zombies were the reanimated corpses of the OPs who had their threads graveyarded. -
I've never heard of someone going "Holy shit I want to shoot someone!" then shooting someone and going "Holy shit I totally never want to shoot someone again!" If you've got the impulse to kill, it will not bother you. Those who kill out of necessity/self defence are those who are affected by it as they are more timid, which is exactly how the game goes. If you kill someone out of self defence, you start wondering if you could've let him live and just avoid him, or incapacitate him, and the guilt consumes you. This sort of consequence is based on the person, and forcing it to affect everyone just to satisfy your play-style is selfish. We're not suggesting that there be no consequences. We're saying that whatever happens in the game world and its community should be the consequence, not some mystical game mechanic. It should be something that makes you think "If I was in a zombie apocalypse, I could see this happening if I killed someone", not "If I killed someone in a zombie apocalypse, this shouldn't affect me."

Just because most hackers are bandits doesn't mean most bandits are hackers.

Then the only conclusion I can come up with is an anti-virus software mistaking the one file as malicious and deleting it every time we create it.
-
They save automatically. I bet if you hadn't have told anyone, it would still be there now.

HE'S IN CAHOOTS WITH THEM! CUT HIS HEART OUT WITH A SPOON! -gets out spoon-

I would follow logic, which is disconnect.

Make sure you have correctly installed the game. Using DayZCommander, click on "Install/update". Ensure that DayZCommander is up to date. Then, proceed to update your ARMA II Beta patch. After that, update DayZ. Optionally, update whichever map you are trying to connect to (Though you should update them all, simply because it's easy to.) and connect to a map running the correct version (You can hide incorrect servers in the filters).
-
Then I would suggest getting on DayZCommander and try updating everything via that. If SixLauncher (Which is pretty outdated, by the way) has the ability to update your DayZ, ARMA II Beta patch and whatever map you're trying to load, try that first.

Like I said, as little mechanical alteration as possible is what this game is about. It gives you the settings, the know-how, and lets you get on with it. If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself. And how would a grouping system change that? It's not going to stop a "friendly" from shooting you, and it shouldn't. Uncertainty is a main part of the game.
-
Are you launching via DayZcommander/Play WithSIx, or through steam?
-
There does not need to be any changes to reward or punish either playstyle. Encouraging and discouraging them is a different story, as long as it's up to the survivors to do it. This is a game about survival at its rawest. There should be as little mechanical alteration as possible. That's why the added the bandit and hero skin. It's up to the survivor to decide if this skin makes the player more or less trustworthy.

Please I just want to play!

Whitelisted servers. I've only ever heard about one hacker in the one I'm in, and he was dealt with accordingly. -
I knew I wasn't crazy when I thought it was the ARMA II.5 engine. I thought "I KNOW it's an ARMA engine and I know it's not the first or second." so third was my automatic assumption.
-
DayZ Standalone is using the ARMA III engine, I believe.
-
That "Managers" post was an adbot. Disregard it. Okay, so we might have found the root of the issue. This might suck, but I'm going to ask you to reinstall both ARMA II and OA. If there's a broken file, this may fix it.
-
Like I said before, I don't believe that killing other players should be punished at all, I'm just saying that the rewards for doing it are more than worth it, hence why there is so much KOSing going on.
-
Just make sure you do it to ARMA II and ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead, and try connecting again.
