Then you wouldn't be saying this: Someone who understands that this is the alpha would not call the things that typically come along with an alpha "Bullshit" because that implies they expected it not to occur. Or, this: Obviously if THEY don't know when they can fix it, why would they make a timer to announce the patch? They rely on constructive feedback and reports from the community to create these patches. They have no control over how often they get useful information as opposed to "Oh my god this game is fucking dumb fix it". I understand it's no fun but again that is what you should expect when you play an alpha. I'm not saying you should be perfectly fine with tedious, but you should not be surprised at all when it happens. Instead, just provide whatever information you can on the issues and then wait for the ensuing patch, as you are supposed to do when you play an early access alpha.

Thing is, the reason that was so funny was because it was an innovative way to mess with people. If these sorts of things are actively encouraged by the game they'd grow old quick. However, I believe having the potential for these things to happen such as the aforementioned ability to hide in a trunk are a great idea for a bit of fun in a scary world.

This is going to be hilarious considering I just said I can read perfectly fine, but I did not see that you were referring to the Steam Forums. Now I get that there are significantly more people complaining on there as there are here (Seems to be a thing with Steam Forums), but I feel that's simply because it's easier to post there than create here; you can't own the game without a steam account. Some people can't be bothered making an account just to be whiny. I still believe that the number of people who don't understand it's an alpha is significantly smaller than the amount of people who do understand and either don't post when there's a problem, or they leave a constructive report.
-
Give me a rough estimate of how many people do you think, on average, you see per day post here who don't seem to understand the concept of an "Early Alpha".
-
That will not work well as most people have the common sense to understand the concept of an alpha and thus do not need to be reminded therefore don't read it, so we're just locking them out of the game. I can safely say I have absolutely no problem reading mor understanding disclaimers or Terms and Conditions, and there was a game that did this for their forums and due to the fact that the terms and conditions contained the phrase "Untick the box at the end to signal you understand these terms" under the definition of "spam" and me being an avid user of forums for 10 years was perfectly aware of the definition of spam chose not to read it and so I did not understand why I was locked out of the forum until someone told me what was up about a week later after I had lost interest. TL;DR: People skip the disclaimers because they understand them. Setting a "trap" only causes confusion. Also, people are still going to ignore the actual contents of the message even after reading through them.

Penalties for those who hack or use exploits in the true game release.
Rage VG replied to TactiKs's topic in General Discussion
There is not a single game that exists that is, was, or ever will be unhackable. The creativity of some people is way out there. They will find a way around anything. The key is to make it incredibly complicated to pull it off. That way, people who know how probably don't want to waste their talent on a game, and people who have no idea how that stuff works and just follow tutorials will not be able to go through with it. The only issue with that is that if they know how to do it, they probably know how to make something that does it for anyone at the push of a button. Or, they just do what people have been doing with the mod; Stealing the CD keys (or accounts) of gullible people by promising them hacks. The community is it's own worst enemy in this aspect. -
Do you understand the meaning of Dayz Alpha?
Rage VG replied to Jaygoon's topic in General Discussion
Report posts like that. Because... Though do note that in plenty of cases a reminder that the game is nowhere near finished is rather necessary when you get posts such as "wtf i spent good money on this game and its trash because things dont work good", essentially when people come across as if they expected it to work fully. Typically a suggestion doesn't need to include things like "This is total bullshit" or "Who thought this was a good idea?" or "Waste of my money" because the idea is the game is not supposed to be very polished right now, and if someone comes across as not expecting that then they do need to be reminded. But if it's simply a suggestion or bug report, like "I die immediately when I use a bicycle, no idea why" or "Has anyone ever considered implementing blablabla to prevent yada yada?" then those are exactly what we want and encourage people to do because it helps the game move forward when informative posts are spread around and constrictive thoughts are raised, and "omg its alpher stfu" is not needed to these and is honestly nothing more than spam. Though I must admit I have used "Alpha" as a replacement for "Thanks Obama". -
I see literally no point to that.

Bots. Just report them and ignore them and we'll clean them up, thanks.

A touching story.

This I would much prefer. I saw this posted a while ago too and I was behind it. The longer I'm alive, the better I should become at staying alive. However, I feel that the numbers should be much bigger, so instead of 10 bandages for 10%, something like 50 bandages. It'd be far too easy to simply grind back up to where you were before if you die should they be too low. The reason I prefer this one is because there's a sense of the player actually working to achieve these bonuses, not given to them because they pressed a button to give it to them. I don't think the bonuses should go too high though, or it may still turn into a grind-fest as a lot of people are willing to bandage themselves a thousand times if you tell them it'll make them immune to bleeding.

Yes, but if I spent 10 years studying first aid, why would that suddenly stop me from learning how to be a good cook or marksman? It pretty much takes away from the whole "Take what you're given and make it work" aspect of the early-game as I'm now limited myself to a specific playstyle for the duration of that life, and also means that if there's one class that's generally better than another class then everyone will be using it. I don't think having a couple hundred thousand medics/mechanics/whatever hypothetical class that happens to be the meta running around is very realistic either.
-
I remember this mentioned before and the general consensus was it wasn't a good idea because you shouldn't have any sort of advantage over another player in any aspect unless you personally put that effort into it. So you all start out as identical people, as even as possible, and if you want to specialize in something, you have to do it yourself. If you want to be a medic, go scavenge the medical supplies yourself. Mechanic? Get the car parts and store them somewhere. Sniper? Practice your aim. You get the drift. It's just not what DayZ is going for.

what kind messages you will leave on NOTES?
Rage VG replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
I get the feeling that your statistics might be slightly fabricated there. -
I'll have you know this community is in alpher.

It would add another layer of realism. Not a bad idea, JonTron. Now go make me more videos.

Thank you, I understand theres, large development to be done, an in a way i feel like I would be meant to be a PC gamer. As a shit ton of PC games disappoint me as they are not available on console, as for example DayZ, Ive been itching to get my hands on something like that for a long time, Believe me, I know your pain. I've had DayZ sitting in my library for a few months and I can't run it to save my life lest my PC burst into flames. Correct me if I'm wrong but age ratings are parental advisory, as in if his parents consent then he is good to go. Don't quote me on that, though.

Hey there, There will most likely not be a console port in the next year. This is because, as you stated, the game is still in alpha. It wouldn't make sense to port an incomplete game over to consoles and market it as a complete game. You can think of it like Minecraft; upon release it was very raw. after a long open development period it finally released at 1.0 and not long after, a console port was released. Now, I'm not confirming a console port after release nor am I denying a console port before one, but the logical conclusion and the one I've been hearing is that after the game is finally released as a full game, a console port will likely be considered. Well, it wouldn't affect the PC players in any way, so I don't see why not.
-
The primary focus is on the PC version. If it's convenient, console ports will likely be made, but we can safely assume this won't be for the following year as nobody is going to buy an alpha game for a console, and Rocket doesn't expect it to come out of alpha for another year.

$50 and I'll message Matt and ask when DayZ 2's coming out.

DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
Rage VG replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But exactly how much change can you add to something before it becomes something else entirely? It's a really, delicate line between changing too much and not changing enough. On the one hand there are of course people like yourself who have enjoyed the game for a long time but are getting tired of going "through the motions" so to put it and would like to see something quite revolutionary added to spice things up and perhaps add another "end-game(ish)" for you to accomplish, however on the other hand there are other people (and as far as I can tell, the majority) who play DayZ specifically because they still enjoy those "motions" so much, and want more of it because they still like it and don't want the game to become focused on/tailored to/(insert better words here) something else entirely, with the reasoning that if they wanted a game that was focused on/tailored to/(insert better words here) something else, they wouldn't be playing DayZ in the first place. Though that's not to say that the standalone shouldn't change as to not tamper with the feeling at all. It's just that my personal opinion is right now, I feel there's enough new content to warrant a purchase as cheap as DayZ will be, relative to the additions already promised. Which you can tell most are at least somewhat tailored towards extending the mid-game a little more than what the mod provides, as opposed to the end-game that everyone achieves so quickly, and the early-game that people are sent to after messing up the end-game, which I feel is already quite pushing the envelope on what we can still call "the DayZ experience." -
DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
Rage VG replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But it's not stagnant. There's plenty of change, it's just that none of the changes are going to turn it into a completely new game.. And I'm pretty sure most games will get boring after two years of constant play, dude. -

Nether at least looks good, and isn't filled up the arse with microtransactions. That's a step forward. -
DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
Rage VG replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, but really. Those are the same game. Air quotes IRL. The only game I've seen that rivals what DayZ has/had/will have is Nether, and that is still more focused on PvE than DayZ is. Either way, Missed deadlines or no, expectations are still high from newcomers and veterans alike. All that the missed deadlines mean is that there's more work put into it. At the end of the day, I'm not sure what much more you expect them to add without making it a completely different game. Everything that makes DayZ what it is has been kept or only polished, whilst everything else has been reworked. If the idea of significantly more interactive building with dynamic loot locations is not enough of an improvement to something as simple as scavenging then I don't know what is. If you're expecting a free handy every time you enter a building to make it worth it after hundreds of hours I'd reconsider your purchase. All in all, devs are damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they focus on improving on the core DayZ experience, people will complain that they are just making people buy the mod, being lazy, cash whores. If they try and branch out, people will complain it's no longer DayZ, just a generic Zombie shooter with PvP. They've abandoned their ideals which means they are being lazy cash whores. So I would like to propose an idea, one that is logically sound and allows you to complain about whatever you please should the need call for it; Let's wait for the game to actually come out and be played before we start reviewing it.
