I've been running my server for about a month now and it was all going fine until the hackers started to join and destroy everything on a daily basis. I want to add a white list to the server but the only way I can do it is with Gotcha, and that needs to be running 24/7 for it to work which is simply not an option for me as I can't keep my computer on all day every day (damn these high energy bills!). I've read in a few places you can have a white list running on the actual server, something to do with the SQL database, but as I'm a complete noob with that sort of thing, and there is not a single tutorial on how to set up a white list on the entire internet for some bizarre reason, despite the rage against hackers. Can someone give me a few tips or instructions on how to set one up? someone on these forums must know! Any help will be greatly appreciated! thanks.

HOW do I add a whitelist to my server? don't bother posting links to tutorials because ALL of them seem to be aimed at people who already know how to use MySQL, I have ZERO knowledge on MySQL and all I'm trying to do is add a whitelist to my server, I must of tried about 12 different tutorials all of which have failed because either the instructions leave me scratching my head because they seem to be written in a different language, or because I get bombarded with error messages! I contacted dayz.st and they responded with a link on a tutorial: http://sponsored.day...le=Whitelisting Now correct me if I'm wrong (PLEASE SOMEONE CORRECT ME!) but the very first step says create a new database called whitelist, so that is exactly what I attempt to do with no success, I click on the 'Databases' tab and there is a little box called 'create database' so logically I assume this is where I have to create the database, but when I try to create a new database called whitelist I receive an error message: #1044 - Access denied for user 'bliss_696'@'%' to database 'whitelist' Can someone PLEASE help me with this issue, every tutorial (and there isn't many) on the net just give very vague and short instructions. Create a new database, HOW do I create a new database? Run the file against your database, HOW do I run the file against my database? Install the .exe on your database and run it, HOW do I install in on my database? Like I said none of these tutorials are any good to me as I have never used MySQL once in my life, call me a noob, because that is exactly what I am, I'm just a noob that wants a whitelist on my server. Somebody PLEASE help me! The only way I can currently whitelist my server is by running Gotcha 24/7 which is NOT an option.

First of all I apologies for any snide remarks I made, I'm just getting frustrated at the seemingly impossible (yet apparently so simple) task of adding a whitelist to my server, but you were talking about player locations, spawn points, banned weapons, what weapons are in players inventories, additional server scripts etc etc, I'm sorry but that doesn't help me install a whitelist, which is what this topic is asking, HOW to install a whitelist, nothing else. and I have read the instructions 20 times over, and there are some steps I have issues with: 1. Create a new database on your MySQL server called whitelist - Cant do this as I get an error message as stated above, contacted support, nothing yet, google yields no results. 4. Save the file and run the SQL against your database - run the file AGAINST my database? what does that even mean? again, google yields no results. Also where do I put the files? how do I get them on the database? nothing seems to be answering my questions. Bare in mind the above problems are for one whitelist tutorial, I have tried many others with no success. And my server is a private hive, not a public hive which I am fully aware you can't whitelist or password protect.

I'm not even going to attempt adding any vehicles or modifying spawn tables yet, all I want is a whitelist on my server to allow trusted players on without adding a password, not sure how reading code and instructions (where ever they are) will help me install a whitelist seeing as the actual whitelist instructions don't actually explain HOW to install it.

Been with dayz.st just over a month now, never had any issues like this before, apart from crazy amounts of hackers in the last few days.

The host is DayZ.st, and I don't have access to the desktop of the server, only to the database. This is what I mean, I have no idea where to put those files in the database, or how to, doesn't give any explanation to that part.

-on nix install php5 with sockets and mb_string extantions I literally have no idea what that means, when I said complete noob I meant it haha. and where on the server do I install those files, and how? and it doesn't appear to be server side if I have to run the .bat on my machine...

Quick google search is not what I'm after, that link explains nothing to me, I need a tutorial, or someone to explain it.

I was playing DayZ, went to play TLR for a while and went back to DayZ only to find it won't work, I can either get to the multiplayer set up screen where it freezes and I can't click any buttons, or I get to click the button (rarely, probably 1 out of 50 tries) and it goes to the loading screen with the big DayZ logo in the middle but the loading bar doesn't increase, and before any of you say give it a while and let it load it's normal, 5 hours, yes 5 hours with no result isn't normal! >:( Most of the time it completely locks up my computer and I have to turn it off by the mains, which I HATE doing but I have no choice. I've tried reinstalling it at least 10 times, used Six launcher and DayZ commander and neither work, yet ARMA 2 works perfectly fine. I can't for the life of me figure out why it is doing this, can anyone help me resolve this? 3 days without DayZ, I don't think I can cope much longer :(

Surely if it was BE it would affect ARMA 2 as well? I'm only having the issue with DayZ, but I'll try what you suggested and delete the folders and reinstall, it's getting to the point where it's too much effort to restart my computer each time as it won't let me ALT + Tab most of the time :( EDIT: Tried what you suggested and it didn't work, if anything the game freezes up at an earlier point now haha :huh: thanks for the suggestion though :thumbsup:
