  1. Sin The merchant with PCGN hosting halloween trick or treat event Saturday 11/3/2012 Stay tuned for all the proper details soon!
  2. Good story ZCLUTCH - that is the same avenue we went down when deciding on the private hive. Thank you for sharing. As for requested highlights, here's some more info. 1. Regular day/night cycle set to 6 hours behind EST. 12pm noon EST is 6am in game 2. Loot tables (items, chances, spawning spots) are unchanged from official DayZ 3. Vehicles - default saintly spawns (same as official with a few added), black suv added, fishing boat added (only non-blacklisted vehicles) with a max of 75 total vehicles on server. Technically 3 choppers can spawn at any given time 4. Restarts - randomized and daily. lack of schedule is to remove advantage to those players or groups on only at restart to scoop up new items. this brings balance and gives everyone a fair shot at new spawns after restart 5. Whitelisting - server has no password, but requires whitelisting to enter. a white listing application provides information for us to search through communities for a past record of hacking and other malicious behavior. our staff acting on this are very skilled and very objective. put simply, this process has effectively eliminated hacking 6. Backups - if something happens to the server, whether technical problems or its compromised and a hacker sneaks through the cracks, we have complete control and ability to restore it to a point right before the compromise. nobody loses here except hackers

  7. Sin is the purest of pure bred treasure hunters. He will walk on foot over 10km just to check a loot pile. He will traverse through mountains, forests, and countrysides to check for probable treasure locations. He will throw himself through the middle of a zombie hoarde to grab that valuable engine everybody needs. He will find the shiny gem of a vehicle to promote his mercantilism. Sin originated from the shadows of nowhereland to find a comfy home on the continent of Chernarus. First accompanied by his companion Ryker, upon arriving they learned the terrain and kept detailed journals of the treaures scattered across this new land. From weapons, to tools, to survival gears, to food and water, to the illustrious mountain dew and the fabled escape helicopter. Sin found it all, marked it all, and was immeasurably consumed by it all. Sin and Ryker then teamed up with PCGN survivors, still new to the land of Chernarus, sharing their wealth and valuable insight into the treasures of the land. Sin liked his new group that helped to keep him alive while he scoured for new treasure coves and to keep the stockpiles stocked. Air raids into high value locations were numerous until a new foe was encountered in the wilderness. Magical treasure junkies started showing up performing magic not supposed to be present in Chernarus. These junkies could spawn their own treasures, be it a vehicle or helicopter or weapons food and ammo. They made life for Sin and legitimately searching for treasures less and less worthwhile and more of a chore. So many times did these magical junkies interrupt Sin and PCGN that he almost gave up and set sail to the nowhereland he came from. Knowing the value Sin brought to the survival effort, PCGN and his comrade Ryker could not let him give up in the face of struggle! They orchestrated a contraption to combat the magical treasure junkies. Sin and PCGN could not kill the junkies, sometimes could not even see them, and other times they simply disappeared before they could initiate combat. The only option for dealing with these junkies was not to combat them, but to prevent them from even entering Chernarus. They rallied together and advertised the invention of the contraption, selling the entire population of Chernarus on the "Whitelister" and to join in on the fight against magical treasure junkies. After successfully launching this new contraption together with PCGN, Sin was now free again to pursue his goals and ambitions seeking the land's treasures. He is now free to roam and wander through the coves, and has gained a respect amongst the population which leaves the only enemy as the undead zombies. Sin now collects and hides his wares to trade and sell to the Chernarus populous, has made a very rich and coordinated name for himself, and spends his free time gathering medical supplies to aid the sick and wounded. If you see Sin, you do not kill him. You wave and smile, and ask him if he needs that new piece of treasure you found or if he has in stock that piece of treasure you need. If you do kill Sin, you have just awakened an entire continent's population, a sleeping giant, and they will hunt you down to end your miserable excuse of a life. Private Server Demise

I was reading a little bit about DayZPlanet today and what you say makes a lot of sense. I have spoken with Lee at Vilayer and I know he is doing something similar with bringing persistence to the private hive sector. Thank you for the referral.
  12. I like what you're doing here. Creating bases for clans is a great idea and a great base point for making additions to the mission. I have been interested and poking around with how to do this on our server as well. Would you be open to some collaboration on this?

Any other servers out there sharing the vision of #3?
  14. This issue is a double-edged sword. It does promote community in all the ways the other guy mentioned. It does "liven it up" a bit. But immersion is definitely an issue. Not because of the magical chat box on screen. I don't care how minimalistic the interface becomes I'm not going to forget I'm playing a video game. What breaks immersion is the fact that there's so much drama potential in side chat. When you start to realize 90% of the players are below 19 (yes I made up this statistic) and all they have to say is dramatic woes of ignorance/naivety/uselessness then you start to forget you're not trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse. Instead you, and everyone else, become personally attached to pissing matches and Melrose Place-esque episodes of melodrama. The world is not full of emotional headcases under 19 when zombies have taken over, killed most the population, or most the population become zombies. The people left will be the strong, the confused, the adaptable, the survivors. You will get all different colors of personality, all different ages of people, all with varying degrees of perception on survival. This together on side chat is an amazing thing. Talk about immersion.

  19. why do you keep bumping this "whine" thread with whining posts about having to see it and read through it because simply it exists. have some self control man! don't look at it, don't respond to it, ignore it! omg then you simply would not HAVE to worry about any of it. QQ
