Success is only defined one way. Sales and longevity. I'm not talking about moral or personal goals here. Those goals don't matter. I am saying the "shark has jumped" on DayZNilla. ideas evolve. People thought of the wheel, and then people made the car because of it. A guy invents a mod of a game, then that game evolves to something else, and becomes a better version of someones original idea. And yeah, I have been around, played me plenty of DayZNilla. Honestly who wants to run for 45 minutes and not encounter a soul and then die from someone camping a high loot spawn area, then rinse and repeat. Enjoy your running simulator, not sure about your self, but I don't have days to waste when I game. I want to enjoy it. I understand why it's DOA. Do you? -

Pretty much a given right?i mean he came up with the idea right. He has to be a fanboy of his own work. I feel like Dayz SA would be more successful closer to epoch or origins. I feel like it hasn't come out yet, because of the popularity of the mods, and the fall off of DayZNilla. -

Seems like a pretty current trend of people bashing the mods like origins and epoch. The masses of Uberfanboys in this forums is one of the many many reason I rarely post here, but I decided to make a exception here. If Dayz vanilla was so awesome, and so great, the mods like Epoch and Origins wouldn't be as popular as they are. they are taking a game that is a pretty good mod, and giving the people what they want. however, is not what the fanboys want. so that is ruining the game huh? By getting more people to play it.........by getting more people to enjoy it.........huh, that's pretty f'ed up logic. Marketability is something you should think about. Epoch and origins do something the regular mod can't do. Creating a economy. ability to build bases, store goods, buy vehicles and make it more like a real apocalypse setting. Ability to stash lockboxes, safes, etc. Like what would happen IRL in a Apocalypse setting. people wouldn't be camping in a fire station, killing everyone that came by for there beans. They would pair up, pool resources, build fortifications. kill Zombies. hunt douchebags. Dayz SA was supposed to be out last year, early this year right? About the time Origins and Epoch took off right? So do you think that maybe the guys behind the SA are taking note, and trying to make a game the everyone will WANT TO PAY FOR. I don't know about you, but if I want to play a brutal game, I'll play DayZ vanilla. I certainly am not going to buy the exact same game with better graphics and the ability to do a few more things but not be able to build or own gear. people will, but more people will buy stuff closer to Epoch/Origins. I am sure the SA will come out, probably not be modable. do you think it will be closer to vanilla, or closer to epoch/2017/origins etc? my money is on the later. Who wants to pay 2 times for a more brutal version of call of duty, where people just hang out with a rifle on the shore killing noobs. If that's what makes the game great to you, go play Call of Duty. There are plenty of sheep there for you to enjoy. oh and I'm not trying to change a fanboys view, or views. that's a waste of time. -

boy i hope you wrong about that or at least misunderstood what he was saying.the success of this game and the eventual stand alone when it comes out depends on a game that is playable. To make the game inaccessible would be a marketing blunder, a epic fail on a massive grand scale. See if it was to stay a mod, you could just make it the most brutal piece of shit in the world and all the "hardcore" gamers would love it. That cool if you want to cater to the unemployed or under employed basement boys and girls of the world. Or better yet the kids of the world that have all the time in the world to sit in front of a screen and learn all the intricacy of the map, zombie movements, loot tables and spawns, great vantage spots for cheesing. Problem is your going to alienate the people that made this game popular, and that is the casual gamer. If you don't believe me, why not think about it for a second. Why is the a SA coming? Why is there a article every single day about it coming to PS4 or Xbox one? Why is there still a huge following for the mod? Is it because the buying power of the basement boys/children? Or is it because of the 9-5 working class that gets a hour, maybe 2 to spend every other day or so playing it? See, it can't be impossible. The casual gamer will not tell his other gamer buddies if its too brutal. They will tell them its brutal piece of shit, and go buy Call of Duty, State of Decay, Dust, etc you will enjoy it more. It won't sell. You can have as many cool realistic type features as you want, but if the game don't play, IT WON'T MATTER. It will be DOA. When something sucks, or is a piece of garbage, people tell 20 people. When its great and the love it, they tell 5. Word of mouth still works in this day and age, and with all the social networking right now, shit can get out of hand in a hurry, and then your left with a under supported, big blunder. Look at what happened with that abortion warZ/Infestation. Social media killed that thing. I am pretty sure that s why the SA hasn't come out yet, because they want to get it right. As much as you elitist hardcore gamers think you made this game, realize you need the casual gamer to make it successful. To make it exist a year or two from now, your gonna need them. After this patch came out i had to track down my log in just to comment on this abortion of a patch. Its been like 10 months since i posted on this board, because really I haven't had a reason to complain, or rant. I enjoyed the game the way it was. I enjoy all the different versions, and maps, and new things i see and find through them all. (love the dayz2017 btw, thats how it should be) Now I am not saying I need the little exploits to make the game fun for me anymore (running in houses, weaving through trees etc) sure they were unrealistic. (words that should never be used to describe a zombie Apocalypse game Zombies=not real, hence can't be realistic) Problems i have with this current Version (and other issues that should be address in the near future) Zombies are way way too strong. Super senses, etc I died in 3-4 hits today when i was creeping through kamenka today, and by the time i got back up, there was over 10 Zombies on top of me. Really? Zombies will run through wall, hit through objects, and run as fast as me. It crap. plain and simple. I have no issue with the loot tables or spawns, I actually think that they got it right. (except maybe adding more antibiotics, or something to protect you better from infection. Infections are fucking impossibly retarded. So you telling me i get hit by a "infected zombie" (infected zombie=oxymoron right? )that in 1-2 minutes i got the fucking sniffles? Really? As much as everyone has this "its gotta be realistic" vibe going with this game, that garbage needs to go. Give me a half a day at least. Hell the way it works now, your basically dead in 2 hours of game time without meds. As soon as you fix yourself with antibiotics, one hit later, your sick again. Really? Meds last for days in your system, not minutes. Especially antibiotics. Zombies movement, basically a guy hit on this earlier. Fix the animation and movements, then buff them. I got zeds knocking me down from 2-3 meters away with no animation. its crap Other shit that needs to happen; Hand to hand combat, if a Zombie can knock my ass down, I should be able to kill them with my bare hands.I should be able to kill them BETTER with melee weapons. Less military weapons. There just don't need to be that many. Needs to be more shotguns, pistols and melee weapons. Less is more. Improvised Silencer. Fairly easy to construct with common household items. Ability to create more with trash, ie toilet paper, razors, tin cans -

agreed this game is majorly flawed and if there is not something done in the stand alone it will be DOA. I had my 4 day old guy get killed by a sniper yesterday so I figured I would try and do something different. I was spawning around electro so I decided to run into town, find people and hide from them, but direct chat to them," I have no gear, I have no equipment just want to get a few things and be on my way"said many times" I dont care about pvp" every single time I got shot . the game is call of duty with zombies in the back round. only thing is that it is worse than cod, because you can't see the name of who killed you or where they were. there is no object to the game. stay alive, wait for some douhe to snipe you or combat log you. rinse and repeat. everyone kos. never saw one person that doesn't. even dudes with no gear. as soon as they find a hatchet they are running after you. -

2 for yah driving up a hill in a atv, and didnt understand the engine being red. Was so excited i had a vehicle. Kaboom! put a wheel on a atv and the movement broke my bones and was knocked out, and bleed out before i came to. -

never found a dew till this weekend. was near the north firehouse in electro, had been noob killed with no gear 3 times in a row. Decided to head north, was about 1 km north of the fire station with no gear, and saw a guy standing in a middle of a field with hero skin, shit i was on top of him beofre i even noticed. He was dead, standing, opended up his pack, he had a dew, m14, 10 mags, NVG, GPS, backpack (coyote), cooked meat, (needed was in rough shape) G17 with 5 mags, and a m9sd in his backpack with 2 mags. Then i went back into that firehouse now i was geared up and found a mp5sd and 2 clips. All stuff i had never seen before, execpt the backpack, G17, and the GPS. So i downed that DEW ASAP and headed north and about 25km north found a well hid tent fully stock with the rest of the tools i needed, and a AKM, and m1014 with 8 mags of pellet, 8 mags of slugs. So f the curse, the shit aint real. If you find do, just Do the DEW -
yeah i gotta say last week has been pretty nice, 10 days deep. 800 zeds dead, 1 murder. (guy snuck up on my on a heli crash, pulled the trigger till it went click) survied 2 teleports, lost all my gear 2 times got all my tent flattened and detroyed, but still manage to find mid level gear, and not a as50 sniper to be seen.

I hear what your saying with getting rid of hacked weapons. makes sense. but there is a lot more people other there that just destroy tents regardless of what they have in them like a bunch of holier than thou "my way to play is the right way" assholes I have been playing for a month, never saw a helicopter crash that had anything other than medical. then early this week I found 2 of them. not to far away from my tent. so I loaded up, 2 l85 about 7 stang clips and a m14 ccosd with about 4 clips, a m107 with 2 clips and gps. then after about two trips to the site I had it back in my tent and was using my m14 by far my favorite gun. logged off for the night had the day off today logged in and instant killed. but I alt f4 and log back into server, not killed but lost all my gear. no big deal. notice at the time there is only one other person online at the time name was GODA. think nothing of it. now it takes the better part of the day to get back to my area, and most the time just GODA is of the server. when i get back to my tents they are all destroyed. yeah yeah I know don't get attached to your gear, I know but assholes that just go around and detroy shit because it's rare, are the worst kind of haters. if i see your tent, I will peak inside, if I see something I like I'm gonna take it, but I always leave something. (cause you can't carry it all can you?) bottom line is, you don't know who got what legit. I know a lot of woods guys that never hack, dupe, or script a thing and you will never see them around the nwaf, or any of the cities, but they have most I the gear in the game, and they got It legit. unless your a hundred percent sure, ( it is cheating )don't be a dick. -

i vote none of the above. pvp can be avoided to a certain point, hop to unpopulated servers, avoid the big towns. I really don't think if this was a real zombie apocolypse, you would avoid others, and not shoot on site, cause you would need people to keep some shred of humanity, build stuff, fix things, kill zombies, (and save bullets, after all, there are none being made anymore) etc. You wouldn't kill them cause you saw them. the one and main issue with this game is the crazy amount of glitches and hacks. That is the only thing that ruins the game for me. Dying because your putting a wheel on a 4 wheeler, or you crouch next to your tent and break a leg. or a Zombie jumps through a wall and one touch at full life and you break a bone and bleed out. Getting teleported out to debug plains, all the vehicles teleported to one location, shit like that makes this game/mod suck. someone shoots me clean and i didn't see them or know about them, shame on me, and it makes me more and more aware of my surroundings. I see another player without a gun, and they don't see me i go the other way, if they do see me and they have a gun, i move like crazy to put myself far away, or in a spot they can't get at me easy. I usually type i don't want to fight, but if they move towards me its on like donkey kong -

have been all over the map and only found one heli crash, and it had a gillie and a svd. Havent seen one since, and i spend most my time in the country. way out in the sticks.
