As a beginner, the first thing you need to do is get your bearings. When you spawn on the bottom right side of your screen right below chernarus you will see your current location. You should take a minute and find where you actually are by using this map here (http://dayzdb.com/map). That map is a very useful tool, you can use it to find the specific loot you are looking for (hospitals for med supplies military camps for weapons etc), find your current position and plot your path to other areas etc. There's tons of things to learn about the game, personally I spent a whole day watching videos/reading guides before I played while I was waiting and I still found many things I didn't know about during my time playing. Also another helpful page is the wiki (http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page), it has information about everything in the game.

You can trust me if you ever see me ingame, I'll never shoot you. Unless you shoot me first, in which case I'll only shoot back if I have no way of leaving without getting harmed.

After I got killed by a hacker on my first life I went to a private hive, no problems whatsoever since. Be warned, the chances of finding/using a chopper are next to 0 unless the server has more than one.

Everyone here needs to take a step back and think a bit more clearly. They *did* record a video illegally. Since it stopped after they allegedly found out it was illegal however, they didn't immediately delete it. They were arrested back in their hotel, so they had plenty of time to erase it since they knew after the second sign that photographs/video was prohibited, yet they didn't. So for the charges of taking illegal photos/video they are guilty and they were busted with proof of that. Espionage charges are another thing. A lot of you dismiss this straight away but what you don't realise is that most of the Greek army would be useless if it wasn't for the airforce and Limnos is one of the major bases, which see action almost daily. There are dogfights with Turkish aircraft violating Greek air-space (and vice-versa) all the time, especially in that area. What if they were recording reaction time for the jets to leave on their drive-by? Where you there? Do you know exactly what happened? Do you know these two people? Just because they work for a company that will make a game you play doesn't mean they are beyond suspicion of anything and most of you seem to neglect the strategic importance of the island and its airforce. Do I trust the authorities? No Do I happen to know for fact that they get overzealous or are corrupt? Yes But I still won't give anyone any sort of support because I don't know exactly what happened or how it happened because I wasn't there. I'd advise you lot to reserve judgement untill you know the full story and you're certain that you do. Just my 2 cents, think before you act.

Avoid contact with any obstacle in the game. Always stand/crouch when moving on stairs. Don't try to squeeze between objects. Don't get out of a vehicle if the door of the vehicle is next to a wall. You will most likely get injured / die if you do any of those above. It's just how the game engine works (or doesn't). PS : ATVs will fly 50 meters up and then come crashing down with you on them if you try to get over bridges or train rails.

If you want to attack players no fucks given get the enfield. Since you're new however I suspect you're probably friendly to others and don't want to attract attention in which case do this -> If you run into this problem again : If you have a pistol, get the enfield. If you don't, get the shotgun. Reason is simple, you use those guns for self defense not offense. in case A) You have a pistol for zombies and the enfield for aggresive players and B) You have a gun that can shoot zombies chasing you, but only if you are not very close to other zeds. Don't get me wrong the enfield can do wonders against other players but unless you have some advanced knowledge on zeds and their aggro, firing your enfield will make you have a bad time. There's a reason that these two exist

The rules don't apply in private hives, everyone can do as they please and no you have no say about it whatsoever. That's something you should have known before even going to one. Sometimes, reading will get you a long way.

Huh? Are you sure this is the right server? Also 1) Take your face out of the text area if you want us to see what you're talking about. 2) I won't watch 7 hours of gameplay for w/e reason. You probably got servers mixed up, the admins of this server are nothing but friendly.

The lesson you should have learned is be more careful and for god's sake don't fire your lee enfield (why were you carrying that thing anyway?). When you see a chopper crash spend 5 minutes looking at the area around the heli for snipers/bandits etc. That will also give enough time for the zombies to disperse. After that go in crawling, get your stuff and get out. It's as simple as it sounds

Antibiotics are way more rare than a tent and spawn in much more hostile locations. I think your avatar depicts you just right, kind sir.

You can't know that unless you know what gear they actually have. They have wanted to double their ammo or get a second pair of nvgs or w/e. Most of the time they won't need their primary/secondary again so that's why people get scared off and why you think their inventory is intact. That guy on the screenshots did that multiple times in a small area, he was obviously doing it on purpose so something must have been missing.

That was a guy duping items. You leave a standing corpse of yourself behind, with your sidearm outside when you do that glitch.

It's like going to a different server on a MMORPG. They are completely separate, if you switch, you start over again. But you don't lose your progress in either.

Awesome server, repaired that heli did awesome stuff with it laughed our asses off, almost crashed it a couple of times repaired an SUV, had fun in general :D

I'll jump in. I'm friendly to everyone who isn't thinking of shooting me. If you lie to me about not shooting me and get me in the back, beware, a kitten somewhere in the world will die. Plus I will be angry.

I don't know any big green triangle doors that open. In any case, if they do open, they will open the same way any other door opens. Move close, look at it, scroll with your mouse and click on open door. If you're having troube use first person camera. If there's no prompt when you scroll in first person then the door doesn't open.

What you saw was most likely a guy who was trying to double something from his gear. It's a glitch in the game that he took advantage of.
