I guess you learned why the lee enfield is a called the dinner bell the hard way. Great weapon, but only to be used for self defense vs other players. Even then, I'd only recommend it if you have had some experience running around avoiding zeds, because you'll have a lot of them on your back as soon as you fire.

I think they should make a "I win" button that you guys can press and feel better about yourselves, because clearly, that's what you're looking for.

I think the standalone should have every vehicle available in arma. That includes helicopters with missiles, fighter jets, tanks etc. Make RPGs common so that there is balance and everything will be fine. Obviously, same inventory for backpacks and rocket launchers so that not everyone carries an RPG with him.

There's nothing you can do about it. It has to be an option and it has to be available, because some people can't do without it. Same with the brightness at night issue. You can only hope that people don't abuse the settings.

In this game, as Bizzyb stated when you load SD rounds into a non SD weapon the bullets will always hit above your croshair (for some reason). SD rounds in reality are called subsonic rounds. Those move at a subsonic speed (less than the speed of sound = > less than a mach) and therefore do not create a sonic boom which drastically reduces the sound they make when fired. Compared to normal rounds, they have worse ballistics because of their reduced speed. Less penetration, less range etc etc.

If you want to go all rambo and shoot everything and everyone the AKM is your best choice. Easy to find weapon/ammo, deals massive damage and has great range. You should have some experience in shootouts before you use it though, because it makes a lot of noise and attracts attention from everything. If you're not looking to get into fights get the winchester, 1 shot - 1 kill for zeds, easy to find weapon/ammo and very quiet. Use it until you find a suppressed weapon.

Modern plastic cars do get banged up. Those ingame? They're old and back then cars were entirely made from metal. None of the cars ingame should get damaged if they hit anything below 30 but above that, it's a different story.

Why you can't survive 3 hours without drinks? Try running up and down hills for 3 hours with a backpack that has two weapons inside, while you are also carrying another weapon in your hands and a sidearm in a holster. Also, a vest that holds magazines emergency supplies etc. You'd pass out from exhaustion and die.

Don't pay too much attention to people whining all the time. I was a bit reluctant about joining steam 7 years ago because it was "the unknown". It has been a great service all those years and is always improving. It has never let me down and it certainly isn't an obstacle. Anyone who would call himself a pc gamer has a steam account, hell, even pirates have steam accounts. People whining about the standalone being steam only are just whining for whining's sake - don't read too much into it. I think it's a great idea, I know people over there take their work seriously and their efforts are both to make (your) job(s) (in this case) easier and keep their clients happy by giving them a handy interface. The fact that I can use steam's assets while playing the standalone is a big plus for me and if it also helps you minimise the amount of time needed to get the game and the patches distributed it's a win win. That means that you will have more time to work on other things and/or the game will be ready for a release sooner.

Mil dot range is there to remind me the actual range for every mildot right above the cross, so if I find a guy crouching who is two mildots high for instance I know I have to aim half a mildot lower than the cross. The whole table is there so I don't have to bother calculating at all while tracking a target really.
