Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
LastManOnEarth replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
So, wait, are we still supposed to be using Arma beta updates when they (constantly) come out??? I'm confused; I thought since 1.6 already officially came out that this almost-daily beta updating nonsense would be over for a while. Why are "beta" patches still coming out even though the patch was finally officially released? What, is it for the next version of Arma2 and so now we have to still keep up with the nonstop beta patches in order to play the latest versions of DayZ? Kind of a bummer if so. I thought we were off the beta updates merry go-round for a while. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Yeah, except for the fact that most of 'em keep breaking DayZ lately, so we're told not to use them half the time now, and have to keep rolling back to older ones. -

Same. It's actually a pain at this point trying to keep up. :( Up until just a couple of weeks ago, though, you could have no fear of updating to the latest (almost daily) Arma 2 betas when they dropped, and it never seemed to adversely affect the latest version of DayZ whatsoever. Now, howewer, we suddenly have to be worried about which beta we're using, as most seem to be breaking DayZ of late, and then we're told to avoid certain ones (after the fact, of course) and not to update to the latest beta. Ugh. The routine is starting to get a little old at this point. A stand-alone DayZ can't come fast enough for me! (Or at the very least, get this friggin' Arma patch out of beta already so things can finally stabalize a bit!!) -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Saw the same thing happen a few times on several different servers tonight. Never saw it before now. An example: my buddy was up in a deer stand and a zombie kept spawning in right underneath it in front of our very eyes (which is not cool at all and totally breaks any feeling of immersion and realism). And yeah, connections are taking appreciably longer tonight than they were the past couple of weeks previous. Lots and lots of waiting to connect and/or loading. And lots of servers that just got hung up on the loading screen. Not good, but I'm sure all will get ironed out soon. And personally, I feel some zombies are definitely aggroing from quite ridiculous distances at times--though that minor gripe aside, all their other behaviors are now a lot more interesting and feel fairer and more organic...they're finally feeling less super-human as far as their senses go, and that's a really good thing! Feeling more like zombies now and like they're working only with some rudimentary, animalistic instincts. But I'm not a fan of them being able to run up hills now, while we can't. Makes no sense and doesn't seem right. Finally, the game is definitely running smoother than ever lately! Absolutely awesome work on that front! :) -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update
LastManOnEarth replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
OK, I'll be playing this evening with a friend and just to clarify real quick: I see that Beta 94945 is the latest build available...so we shouldn't update to that, and should just stick with 94876 instead? Pretty much 1.7.2.3 is not working correctly with 94945, definitively? -
Nope, speak for yourself, mate. The only reason I play it (and bought ArmA 2: CO to do so) is because, in spite of all the bugs and broken updates and being an early tester, it's FUN, period. In all honesty, if this mod's theme didn't massively appeal to me (which it does) and it wasn't fun, there's no way I would waste my time (or money) being an alpha tester for it. Why would I? Why would anyone? No, I'm mainly invoived because I love the mod and think it's incredibly fun to play...not to be a tester (for its own sake). And if DayZ wasn't fun, I'd be gone fast, to play games that are. :)

Zombie Children YAY or NAY
LastManOnEarth replied to AfricanizedBees's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I vote YES, definitely. Would add a lot more relaism, creepiness and variety to the game (need female zombies, too, and different shapes, colors and sizes!). -
Yeah, there DEFINTELY needs to be a respawn "Yes or No" confirmation pop-up when you hit respawn. Very frustrating yet so easy to do!

Should I buy Arma II? I mean I will basically be getting it just for DAY Z
LastManOnEarth replied to Lepryy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I say buy it if you really want it, but just know that almost every single patch lately (even the ones they say they tested like crazy--like the mess that is 1.7.2 right now) breaks the game, and hotfixes are then trickled out over the next week or so before things get back to playable and settled again. As I said, personally, I think the patches are a mess of late and it's quite diseheartening that they keep wrecking everything just about every time now (because alpha), but oh well. If you can roll with that and don't mind not being able to solidly play for a few days (at least) whenever a new update comes out now, then yeah, you're good to go. Welcome to being a DayZ alpha tester. -
Experimental 1.7.2.1 test patch
LastManOnEarth replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Eh, my buddy and I are waiting for this mess to get all sorted out and another official hotfix/patch to come out before we play again. If it isn't out by tomorrow night (or the next), this will be the first weekend we've skipped playing any DayZ in a long time (hope the hotfix comes out soon!). Just don't want to deal with all the problems and fighting to get on a test server, etc. Worse comes to worse, we'll just spend some time with ArmA 2, which isn't a bad alternative, really. :) -
OK, that's one of my biggest pet peeves...they should never spawn right in front of you and in plain sight! Talk about killing immersion and any sense of realism. I don't get why with every major patch the zombie spawn rates are always all out of whack like this, with them respawing in never-ending waves right in front of people's faces. Shouldn't be happening. Really?? Darn, I thought this was getting fixed finally in this patch! Hate to hear that. :(

Zombies are back in charge - good job

Ha, come at me, bro. You'd be dead the second I see you stopping the bike. If you keep peddling, though, we're cool. -
How will people lose zombies when they become fast indoors?
LastManOnEarth replied to amudkipz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Please no. Rocket... please... Nothing. Starting gear is perfect right now. Eh' date=' as I obviously stated (and have many times before and will continue to do so), I don't agree, but think we're [i']very close to a perfect balance. But again, my vote is that starting with NO weapon whatsoever (not even a lowly melee or fists) or cans to throw for distraction is just plain silly and tends to lead to endless, frustrating restarts (for some of us anyway). I've never rage-respawned in a game so much in my life! :) So yeah, change it, Rocket. Thanks. -

I was talking about when you respawn alone down on the coast somewhere (generally far away from any friends that might happen to be on and who know better than to hang around the Southern coast).
