The first bad habit to break is that there is a score imo.. no points in this "game" only narrative of a story, the sooner people realise this the more fun they will have.. most stories of newbies.. "I regained consciousness on a beach.. some psycho beat me to death with their fists.. the end" "I regained consciousness on a beach.. some bastards handcuffed me and fed me bleach I died.. the end" "I regained consciousness on a beach.. I was shot.. the end" I know i'll go to the forums and tell them how to fix this broken game.. yadda yadda yadda..

is the spraying of paint onto an already camo weapon ie painted with green & black a 2nd time with either green or black twice causing the game to crash and the player switch server without any time penalty fixed? -

the sooner you accept that at most times you die undeservedly in this game - a lesson hard learned through glitches and script kiddies or just the other person generally being an asshole in the mod. The more you start to enjoy the deaths when you actually "deserve" to die. You can learn from them - even the ones caused by assholes, the others? you don't because you cant. You have to just suck it up and move on. One thing is sure as god made little apples you're going to die a lot until you learn to take control. If you don't have control of the situation? get out of it if you can. The number one commandment of Dayz - thou shall survive -
the ability to wear peoples faces would be nice, or craft an necklace out of ears maybe... no? oh ok, i'll just get me coat..

the only thing that need be added is the players desire to be a hero and heroes by definition have to overcome adversity and what appears to be insurmountable odds!! that's the challenge if people "choose" to follow that path.. running round screaming "friendly!! friendly!!" does not a hero make! -

what the hero gives the bandit takes away it's as simple as that, people can play as NPC's if they like and try and stay neutral on the fence, but it's not going to stop the bullets coming at them from others - unless they can control the situation, good luck to 'em! As exerting that "control" is what DayZ is all about.. -

look at the statistics for the mod, last I read something like 36 million people died and around 2 million were bandits (in so far as the game decided if you were a bandit or not) it proves that the humanity system was useless, we have also had AI bot's as heroes & bandits = meh ( I know a lot of people get enjoyment killing bots in arma but it sucked imo). So we know what heroes and villians should look like - the lore of the game has established it, just there is no guarantee that the people dressed in such a way are actually what the story says they are.. -

look it's nonsense to say there won't be heroes and bandits, this is "your" story. The game casts you as a protagonist in the whole charade, it's a necessity of narrative - there must also be antagonists, how else do you get the "Story"? It's either going to be heroic or, you're a villain or someone who just dies on the coast who can't even keep their trousers. It's just a story. starring you. -

what you're talking about there is not some way to identify heroes & Bandits - that's some form of justice. when is a survivor not a bandit or hero? the only justice in this game might come from witnesses to the murder but that's it, when I die, this bandit will with me, fresh spawn, new life with no sins from the previous carried over to it, whose to say I won't die a hero in this new one?.. much better scenario if you ask me.. -
end game in the mod - scouring Chernarus for either a chopper to fix / fuel / ambush / steal or boxes of m240 rounds cause there was no point getting in the air if you didn't have crates of ammo. most nubs only had the 100 rounds in each from a restart - it was all about PvP the whole time. If your group didn't control the air, you had shit on the ground.

I have to laugh at people who think the answer to PvP'ing is base building and vehicles, how on earth do you think you're going to hold on to a vehicle if you cannot even hold onto a torch and battery & your pants?
