DayZ has become Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch

Still lots of good points. As far as me liking the PvP style, but upset over the deathmatch meta that is currently going on, there is a huge difference. PvP is part of the game. Period. You have to have that sense of danger. Is he friendly? Or is he foe? HOWEVER, with this deathmatch meta going on, is basically, he IS foe. And I am with those of you that agree with me. Then the problem is I'M NOT LOOKING TO KILL EVERYONE. So if I stumble upon a random player, my instinct is to go "Hey, friendly? I'm cool. Do you, boo boo.", but I have to keep in mind that so far MOST people have just shot on sight. So then I have to alter my play style to be ready to shoot the dude. And MOST of the time, I do. Or he does. That is downright stupid and in no way, shape, or form, what this game is ALWAYS supposed to be about. PvP is in addition to the survival. Instead, we get 27 minute average life span with players killing left and right. 27 minutes. Oh boy, that is a lot of surviving... I agree that Cherno/Elecktro can be deathmatch havens. However, I'm talking about WAAAAAY up north as well. I'm talking about the woods north of the huge airstrip. I'm talking about the far northwest woods and small towns. Hell, I would actually almost disagree that Cherno/Elecktro are deathmatches because honestly in my scenarios, people are just looting and sprinting from zombies. The only real threat are the camping snipers that choose to play in this CoD style. As far as not counting the people that saw me, but I didn't see them... sure. But that number is irrelevant, if even a factor. I am in alt-free look mode 80% of my traveling time. I am seriously the most paranoid person, however I'm more of the "I heard a twig break in the distance. ZOMBIE IS IN FULL SPRINT FOR ME!!!" kind of guy. Regardless, the only people that might have seen me are those who were 300-500 yards away with binoculars are snipers, and no sniper is going to hit me at that range with how I travel. Once again, I act like someone is watching me ALL the time. But I love that. I just don't love it when that someone kills me ALL the time. As far as chat channels go and "communication was the start of civilization", yea that is true. But if you read my previous post, it is a double sided sword. You can use chat and state you are friendly and looking for group or whatever. And it works mostly. People find each other, team up, give each other beans. But guess what, you get Genferret and other CoD guys that see this and go "Oh look, they are in Vylota and they are friendly. They won't put up a fight when I kill them". As far as using other chats and such, the same problem always occurs. I don't really know how someone would fix this... maybe proximity chat? Or maybe that is how it already works? I use Ventrillo with my friends and generally stay out of chat unless I really really need to. Everyone has their opinions. And you know what, as someone said, there are plenty of people that will continue to play this game in Alpha. However, I share the opinion that the gameplay is starting to plateau and nothing is being done about it other than adding more things to kill you in game. But perhaps this is the reason why this genre has never been successful. I will be back for beta or final version. And I do hope that zombies become stronger and an actual threat. And the people that stick around for DayZ are really interested in survival and not this griefing/deathmatch meta that stands currently.

DayZ has become Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch

I'm a lot of people here seem to agree. I also see that another thread is basically saying the same thing with a ton of support. Once again, I get that killing each other is part of the game. Hell, I would NOT play this game if it wasn't PvP. In fact, I would have uninstalled just knowing there are non-PvP servers. But the double side of the sword is, it is indeed getting to the point of the CoD style of game. It almost makes me wonder if this is why this idea has never been fully implemented. Also, I have gone VERY far north, and for a while it was ok. And then random guy kills me. Another key thing to note, and I would bet money on, is that these people that go "Omg. Stop being a care bear. Learn to survive!" probably disconnect the second someone steps on a twig around them. While I haven't played THAT long, I have never never never never DC'd when someone shot at me. It's part of the game. (And for all but one sniper that got a nice headshot on me, I could have DC'd and lived on every CoD fan murder... but ruins the game. Why bother.) I love the idea of making the zombies more prevalent. If you think the zombies are a factor, you are kidding yourself. Respawn a new character. Run into a populated zombie town. Sprint to attract zombies. Stand still and blast every zombie that attacks you. In some cases, you will pass out. No worries, wait 10-20 seconds until you wake up. Continue blasting away zombies. (You should be bleeding out, but you can wait to bandage after). You can do that on every occasion. I have gotten about 30 zeds this way. You THINK zombies are strong and it is fun to treat them that way. But at the end of the day, "stop and pop" gets the job done. I'm just saying that the game is severely limited when you have so many CoD style kids playing. Go to your xbox, pop in CoD 4 and PRETEND you are playing DayZ. That is how it feels in a lot of cases. If 'rocket' doesn't want to fix or attempt to tweak things, then fine. This game has a nice small, cult following and you guys can be hipsters and enjoy. I instead hope for bigger and better things for this mod, that pushes the envelope for other games to come in the future. Good luck 'rocket'. Enjoy the tears.

Don't really need luck with the game uninstalled :P But I do wish 'rocket' some luck. I enjoyed his quote about the game going to shit, but it being the zombie apocalypse has nothing to do with the gameplay elements that are out of hand.

Would rather start with a compass and have no pistol

Everyone does make good points. I think overall I agree with the post that has different starting classes, because everyone is always going to have an opinion. Starting with a compass does not really make it easy, as you have NO gun to defend yourself. If anything, might be a bit harder if you encounter an early zombie. A good example of this is, I am AMAZING at avoiding zombies. I'm sure lots of people are, but most don't have the patience. However, my friend sucks at avoiding zombies and sprints everywhere and gets obliterated. As such, I would prefer to start with compass. No need for a gun early on. My friend would definitely need a gun. Haha! No use for a compass for him. And yea, the sun helps. And the stars. But still, between avoiding zombies, getting killed by this seemingly deathmatch community, and trying to find loot... having to keep track of your location can be disoriented. And to the guy who said finding out where you are is fun.... O.o Maybe the first couple of times... but no. It's not that much fun. i.e. Walking Simulation 2012
  5. Unfortunately this game community and the concept of survival has been flushed down the toilet. To no fault of 'rocket', but the mass of people just simple shoot to kill for seeing a shiny gun on your back. Keep in mind, there is a difference between "carebear" antics and how the game is now with shoot on sight 99.9% of the time. It goes as far as, "at gas station in Cherno, friendly?" and a group of strangers banding together to seeing that same group die 5 minutes later after some deathmatch stranger finds them through chat. I really do like the idea of SOME people taking this play style, and it will always be there, but it has gotten way to out of hand. TL; DR: The game is pulling a RE5 and slipping into "Action/Horror Survival". Uninstalled for now and will re-download when the beta/final version releases. Best of luck to you 'rocket'. Hope the community shapes up a bit.
  6. Speaking purely based on my own shit experience, I cannot comprehend how this realistic game allows you to spawn with a pistol and plenty of ammo, food, morphine, painkillers, water, but NO COMPASS. I would rather have a compass at spawn and have to stealthy find a pistol. As far as people camping the coast and killing with higher weapons, then implement some sort of spawning protector that I see tons of threads on. Once again, only my personal experience , but once you get as far north as the airfield, you WILL get turned around as far as compass direction. And road signs are barely useful (even with a "cheat" map opened in Google). Enjoy my tears.
