Decent Private Hive Server Supplier?
Core618 replied to Bernardo (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I quoted what you said... and what I was referring to, check the quote... you said it only happens if you are constantly changing the database. That's pretty cut and dried. I was accessing the SS pages to put in a ticket because my server was hosed up, and accessing it to check on said ticket. Nothing to do with the database Your correction on the other hand is right.. it's just not what you said the first time. And the bit about 3.7 was said yesterday, so theoretically it should be done by now since last night and today are in the past... it is now 'night time'... but since last I checked 3.7 wasn't released yet, I think it's an empty gesture. -
Decent Private Hive Server Supplier?
Core618 replied to Bernardo (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Incorrect statement there Bub. I was getting 502 errors without touching the database. Hell, I just got it trying to log into my account to check on an open ticket, that has nothing to do with database changes. Refreshing the page once? Really? That works for you? You're one lucky SOB. I've had times where I had to refresh 10-12 times at least. SS says they are fixing it this week. I hope they do, I know I'm as fed up with it as everyone else. It's not just about the 502, it's also about response times, I still don't find 24 hours acceptable, they do, so since we'll never agree on that, I'll move on when my paid up month is over. Example: I opened a ticket Sunday afternoon Sunday, October 21st, 2012 (12:04) When did I get a response? Monday, October 22nd, 2012 (22:11) And then it was to tell me "This should be fixed with our 3.7 release tonight or tomorrow!" At least it was communication, I hope it's accurate, but in the meantime I have people running into randomly spawning solid objects and crashing vehicles. I don't think this particular issue is SS's fault, I just would have appreciated a response a hell of a lot sooner. My problem has never been with the offerings, it's the delivery of them, and the response times. I can put up with less 'stuff' if I get better communications. . I've spent the last 15 years working and running helpdesk and desktop support teams... I know just how far good, frequent, speedy communication will get you, even when the news is not always good, it only gets worse if you have to wait extended periods of time for the bad news. Maybe SS needs a support manager - doing nothing but fielding and prioritizing tickets... -

If you're running Lingor, go into Command Line Manager and make sure it's not set to the blank line at the bottom... I had the same problem you're describing, and it turned out the only thing on the command line it set to was a / -
Game Server Hosting by SurvivalServers.com *** INSTANT SETUP | CUSTOM CP | FTP | CUSTOM MODS | ANTI-HACK **
Core618 replied to SurvivalServers (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
That wasn't smack talk, just statement of fact. I see I'm not the only one having the problem, but I don't see it addressed here, and certainly not in my ticket that's 9 hours old with no replies. If you want smack talk I can bring up the ticket that's over a week old in which I was told patch 97771 would be up by that night, or the 502 errors that seem to be plaguing us all, but none of that has anything to do with today. I run a one man hosting business, I have 283 clients across my servers. Not large, but considering it's a one man show and I have a full time job that consumes 50+ hours a week as well, it's a lot. I get ticket notices by email, they get a reply within minutes, letting them know I am aware of it and an ETR if possible. Some of my tickets to you have been answered in something approximating a reasonable time, especially considering the dumbness of a couple of them, but 9 hours? Not even close when I keep hearing about it from the people playing on the server. -

Ditto that ^^^^^^ EDIT: Screw it, I think it's cancellation time. If you have time to post in the forums, then there's time to be answering tickets. I see worries about new business and getting new folks set up, but no taking care of the ones who have already paid. 2nd host I've tried... and last I think. -
I think we've had enough, it's time to gain a little more control. Taking the server private hive and it will get locked down shortly to a whitelist. BE is not exactly reliable, I don't care what anyone says. My uncle wouldn't know how to hack a game if you paid him, the man is 64 years old. But, he's globally banned... and the only things ever installed on his PC are things I put on for him, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't even an 'accidental' download. So, can't count on BE, tired of spending more time parsing logs than actually enjoying the game.. Private Hive just makes sense to me. I've got a message posted in the MOTD, and emailed the regulars I have contact info for. We'll get a site up and running shortly for a server related forum..

Note, DE 3110 Not Mine  -
So the question is, what does the Ban message say? and where did you purchase your key?

I spoke too soon: 12:46:56 Could not connect to BE Master 12:46:56 Update attempt failed Just started again
-
heh, glad it's not just me, I had reported it to survivalservers thinking it was an issue with my server... Not getting the BE Master error anymore, but Dart still says all my peeps logged on are from Japan this morning. Including me, and I know I've never even been to Japan ;-)
-
I think we'll be following suit, for the same reasons
-
LOL - someone using that same handle, and those same 4 characters starting their guid is already in my local banlist for repeatedly showing up with full sets of hacked in gear. Wouldn't be you would it?

Server: Object 17:103 not found (message 99) <-- ???????
Core618 replied to Newt (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I didn't kick anyone for it, was just checking to see if it started when someone in particular logged in. I don't see pattern, this is the first time my logs have been filled with this though, and with 35 people on right now, plus this spam, it's hard to watch the rpt scroll by that's for sure. -

Core618 replied to Newt (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I have the same issue, just started hapening a few minutes ago. Checking now to see who logged in just before this started. Any answers out there? -
No change of position, I still hold with, "I pay the server bill, I'll do as I please", as long as I am operating within the server rules. Which I would still be if I chose to continue banning for the offense. Before I had no way to auto-kick them, I was only able to be reactive from the logs, so banning known offenders was the option I saw as best to keep some semblance of fair/balanced play for the rest. Thankfully someone posted the thread about the publicvariableval.txt file, and it catches and kicks, so I don't have to worry about it and can focus on other things. I have had a false positive from that, but it's been fixed as well.

Ban Appeal from server Hosted by Core
Core618 replied to Tehdemon's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
@Tehdemon - check you PM's Simply put, I apologized for what turns out to be a mistake on my part. Some testing was apparently done, and the script updated, I didn't get the update. It's updated now. Had I done my usual followup and checked to see what the item was beforehand, I would have caught the error and we wouldn't be having this discussion. My fault for being tired and taking the lazy way out. -
HOWTO: Use publicvariableval.txt to auto-kick players with hacked weapons

heh, glad I checked - just updated my eval.txt file. thanks for the update... had a guy get kicked for a horn last night, twice, banned him for repeats, but failed to check to see what the item was... unbanned him this morning. -

Pancake - go reread the rules, specifically #13 - Yes, you can kick, and you can ban. The rule states they would prefer you didn't, but not that you can't do it. http://dayzmod.com/f...09/#entry594056 TehDemon - I'm at work, I'll check in a bit to see what item it was specifically, all I know is, you got kicked with it, you came back later without it, or the system would have kicked you again, meaning you got rid of it. Check this thread, it's one of the things I use to catch these, and it has a pretty thorough list in it, in multiple places: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/93007-howto-use-publicvariablevaltxt-to-auto-kick-players-with-hacked-weapons/ -
I'll repeat, once more. It is not breaking Rocket's rules, merely your interpretation of them. Check the server hosting rules again, what you will find is: 13. You are permitted to kick for illegitimate weapons/items not intended to be in the game, however please remember, many players do not and should not be expected to know every item that is legitimate and as such we would prefer you do not ban for this. That doesn't say you cannot do it, it says they would prefer you didn't. Meaning you can, but it is not ideal. I now only ban repeat offenders, in fact, I just unbanned someone, again, once he dropped off what he obviously knew was causing the problem, and came back. And yes, MOTD is a valid place to communicate your server rules. I also frequently interact with people on my server via chat from RCon, I had a couple of guys the other night asking where to find lists of illegal items, and I gave them the info, they've been back on a regular basis since, they appreciate a server where they know the hacks are kept to a minimum.

Screenshot not necessary, and my email address is in the MOTD, so posting here is not necessary. However, you were kicked a couple of times for a publicvariable script restriction, meaning you had something that doesn't belong. What I didn't catch was that you must have left, dumped it off and come back without it and so were not kicked again. it was late, I was scanning logs before I crashed for the night, saw the multiple attempts and issued the ban. I see now where you got back in and were in for a while, meaning you did the right thing and ditched the illegal item (also means you knew what it was). I didn't realize you were back on, and didn't see the server remove you, I was wiped out last night.. Anyway, I'll lift the ban, this time, just don't come in my door with things you shouldn't have and we're all good. ~C -

Awesome - I just got this all added, reloaded events and 2 minutes later got this 18:01:20 Player #3 Hughe G Rection (96476222591ea4689ac5818d0ae5049a) has been kicked by BattlEye: PublicVariable Value Restriction #53 I have 5 commented lines - He was carrying a revolver_gold_EP1 which is on line 59 Works a treat... Thanks! -
There's a MOTD when you log into my server that says I ban for illegal weapons. That should be incentive for folks to find out what's legal and what's not. My job is to make sure the game remains fun for those who use my server, but it is not my job to educate them. My email address is in the MOTD as well, if they have questions, or wish to dispute a ban, they can contact me. I don't have a problem with that, and have lifted bans already after making sure they understood that if I see it again, the ban becomes permanent. There is no rule that says I have to allow illegal weapons to be used on my server. I'm not breaking any of the rules I agreed to when I launched the server, I just added a few of my own. You can argue from your point of view all you like, the reality is, we will continue to disagree as long as you continue to tell me how to run my server. If Rocket ever issues a proclamation stating that we are required to allow hacked in weapons on the server, regardless of how the current owner acquired them, then I'll change my policy. Shortly after that I'll be shutting down my server. His Mod, his choice, my server, my choice. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and they all stink to someone else.
