I have been trying to play DayZ for 3 days straight and it will not load into a server. I either get stuck at a screen with a loading bar and a 0 in the corner, or it tells me BE Client not responding. Core i7-950, gtx580, using DayZ Commander, latest patches for all (also default install patches) Fixes tried so far *Reinstalling Arma, OA, DayZ, DayZ mods *manually updating BE Client and server DLLs *deleting C:\Users\<me>\AppData\Arma 2 OA (which somehow erases BE update...) *Port Forwarding *Any firewalls off *Latest router firmware Tearing my hair out here, because not a single server will load, no matter what. It seems to be irrevocably broken. Please, if anyone knows how to fix this damn set of errors these days (because it started happening about 3 months back and I quit in a fit of pique) Before that everything ran perfectly, no lag, no errors, BE updated automatically. EDIT - might as well wait for standalone, but I wouldn't pay for it in a million years if BE is used.

bump - tried putting myself into the DMZ on the router and no joy. Bring on standalone. You know the anticheat is bad when people prefer PUNKBUSTER to it.

and just wasted another 7 hours of downloading and configuring only to have the exact same thing happen. From all reports this is BE being crap. Thanks, crappy Anti-cheat system, thanks alot.

Good thing I don't know you script kid, cause you'd be shitting your teeth for a week for being a retarded little monkey. Your fun blowing everything up, or not having to do anything challenging to get the best gear or gear you aren't supposed to have isn't fun for anyone else. Go and play a single player game if you want to fucking cheat and have a colossal advantage over the rest of the characters in game you simple minded arsewipe. I am sure the majority of the playerbase will agree with the sentiment, and somebody had to say it.

My problem is the interface is incredibly effing ugly, unneccessary on a desktop and wastes space like nobodies business on their mobile device UI. I don't like it and want to use classic, but I want to use classic with those specific tools and if they are still locked down then MS can kiss my cash goodbye.

I mean last I heard any of the more obscure settings like things requiring the command line and the administrative tools are only accessible from the new interface. They supposedly locked it down like alcatraz in classic ui.

I would posit that it is very relevant. MS and their OS have been a staple of the gaming community for a long time now, and if W8 heads where I think it is heading, I might just have to redo my Ghost images so it is purely a *nix based box. Now as to the topic of Steam hate, I have 8 years of usage and can remember when it was worth hating. It crashed, content delivery was slow as hell, troubles even signing in etc. In the last 4-5 years however it has really come into its own and rightly deserves the title of #1 content delivery system for gaming (specifically PC) Signing in is nothing if you have a broadband connection, as it's effectively always on. Don't want to be seen? Set your friends list to invisible or offline as you no doubt do with MSN or Facebook on your phone (if you use it on your phone).

Have they fixed the crippling of power users yet? Last I heard, you can't do jack shit without the new interface (no ability to modify serious settings unless you use metro or whatever they want to call that rubbish now).

I just want to stop in and state the obvious that you're either late teen males or grown men watching a show marketed and aimed towards girls under the age of 12. I just alt-f4'd from a hacker. The only mitigating circumstance. Took 10 seconds afk with clan members raiding the NEAF, only 1 other person on the server, I checked all directions and ran for the toilet, ran back in, bleeding, shocked, broken bone. No possible way that the guy got to me in seconds flat so I feel justified in my actions (he also teleported to my clan mates 100m away and 2 of them with not so great gear). If he'd been legit, I would have fought (and got my stuff back from my mates) but fuck hackers.

Got nuked on US 3751 by "rry" My buddy in game Mayhem and I were bypassing Pustoshka and bam, both keeled over dead. rry was the only other player on, and he logged in just to do it before logging out. The infraction took place at 22:30-ish GMT+10. Sadly it will need to be a log check because I crashed out when the nuke hit and Mayhem didn't grab a screenshot or anything either (he was gone too fast). EDIT - Was corrected about location...

Cheers mate, that log is going to damn him something fierce. Those servers are nice to play on mostly, Mayhem and I were on for a decent portion of the night.

Only other player on the server with me was Ventrix. I was booking it out of Elektro when I was suddenly in the middle of nowhere in the ocean next to someone. As Ventrix was the only player on when I checked the player list just moments before this happened I presume it was him. I would attach a screenshot, but I dc'ed about 5 seconds after it happened cause I don't want him somehow killing me and I had just grabbed a 24slot bag. So after checking my stuff, I lost all my ammo, a bandage, canteen, and some beans. Notthing too major, but that ammo is kinda hard to replace (more the proper mags themselves than the ammo in them. sucks reloading an mp5 with 15 round m9 mags).
