Cant see direct communication chat

Same problem... unable to find a solution. Tried different versions, messing with firewall, etc. I know I have the correct version and am joining the correct servers. People can see everything I type but I cannot see anything they type. Very frustrating problem. Can anybody else having this problem list their system specs and operating system please? -
Same problem here and it's becoming a complete game-breaker. I can also verify that this is not a firewall issue, installation issue, or an issue of me being too stupid to hit , a couple times to get to the correct chat channel...

Yep, but if I wasn't in direct chat, they wouldn't see my messages either anyway... I've tried every single chat channel, I cannot see others people messages.

Apparently other people can see what I type in direct chat, but I cannot see what they type back. I've heard this from 2 separate people who I was following around for like 20 minutes, turns out they were talking to me the entire time, but I never saw a word of it. They could see my messages though. I believe this also happened yesterday on a different server, so I don't think it's a server-side issue. If anybody can help, thanks in advance.
