Ok so aside from cooking in fire places... I think the idea of placing loose rounds (bullets) in the fire should be implemented. You can put them in the fire, but what I mean is after a certain amount of time (A few minutes) the rounds cook off and explode. The rounds should not travel far and kill further than a foot away, due to the fact that there is not enough compression (Or a barrel) so the only risk would be from flying brass casings. This ammunition cook-off with heat could be used tactically as a diversion tactic upon raiding a point of interest. False ambush, hoax, mis-direction, Psychological warfare. i.e - "OH shit dude somebodies firing a lot of rounds to the east!" Meanwhile the attack comes from the west.

So if you can own it as a civilian...it's not a civilian weapon?! The most common .22's I see as a civilian are ruger 10/22's they are in the game. Now let me state something here there seems to be some SERIOUS .22 caliber fan boys here. I'm not sure if your wrists are just limp or if you truly belief when shopping for a home defense weapon people pick a small caliber with little to no stopping power. Keep the air rifles to the U.K. Where I'm originally from in Texas, you go big or you go home...or with your .22 you go in a casket.

Tracer rounds are specific rounds... so if you load a magazine full of tracer rounds it will fire a tracer every round. In the military we loaded every 3rd or 4th round with a tracer in our magazines. Machine guns was every 5th in the belt. With regular rounds in between. They weren't .22 but the same principle still applies.
