Oh, sorry. AA = Anti Aliasing.

You need to download the OA Beta. Also, the "1.6" you're referring to is the game version. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=13684

Performance issues after beta update.
shiromikan replied to durbinh's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I was just going to suggest doing this, too! ;) -
Either turn AA up or down. You do this via in-game setting. Esc -> Options -> Video Options -> Advanced Also, make sure your graphics card isn't trying to add Ambient Occlusion. (You can check this via the Graphic's Control Panel.)

How is this an appropriate thread for Troubleshooting?

I cannot run 3D graphical engine after installing the latest beta patch
shiromikan replied to IrishSoulja's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I agree wholeheartedly. Granted, there are specific instances where the instruction set is fucked up. However, that isn't the case in this situation. -

A new "Virus" is in game spreading to the forums
shiromikan replied to OrLoK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
OP, your points are valid and well thought-out. But, what is the purpose of this thread? Is it just to discuss the downfall of thought and intelligence. Or, was this posted for another reason? -
Premium DayZ Servers from Multiplay Gameservers - Instant Setup - 21 Locations

I was wondering why they (MultiPlay) didn't have a server thread yet. Welcome! :D -
For Arma, HDD speed would improve load-times of the game, subjectx. "drive rotation speed is the most important factor for a drive's throughput. Most people associate fast rotation speed with high data transfer rates, because this is the most obvious advantage of fast spindle speeds. Whether you boot Windows or copy files that are hundreds of megabytes or even gigabytes in size, quick transfer rates shorten the time it takes for completion of these tasks. Combining high rotation speeds with top-notch recording technologies such as PMR (perpendicular magnetic recording) has repeatedly managed to establish new speed records. But other performance factors benefit from high rotation speeds, such as seek time. At this point, it is important to differentiate between seek time and access time, because only the latter is really relevant for everyday applications. The access time is the combined latency of the seek time and rotational latency, which applies when the heads have been positioned above the required track, while the required sectors still have to pass by the heads. Faster spindle speeds, hence, always result in decreased rotational latency and decreased average access time." - tomshardware.com Edit; and I suggested building a new PC/ upgrading specific parts already. OP would rather buy a new pc pre-built.

Have you tried turning it off and on? The computer I mean. Have you added any new hardware? If using a network adapter for wireless, update drivers.

Severe lag/ Low FPS: No idea what the source of the lag is.

Well, I know that your GPU is on the lower spectrum. Maybe it's time for an upgrade? -
Who's playing guitar in Cherno???
shiromikan replied to Siney's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hide the VP (guitarist in this case) inside the Church in a position not visible from outside. Have the guards watch the doorway and shoot anyone coming in. Players who wish to listen can sit outside. (Make sure guards and VP are stationary so each guard knows where everyone is and can quickly identify whether or not someone spawned in the church.) -

Severe lag/ Low FPS: No idea what the source of the lag is.
shiromikan replied to Exidous's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Run the game in singleplayer (Sometimes, servers that have been on for a long time get laggy due to scripts.) and tell me if the lag is still persistent. What is your GPU? And, make sure Video Memory is set to "VeryHigh" Edit; Good job on using the correct format. -
The default set-up for the Aurora build includes the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 555 which is pretty much twice as good as my own GPU (which can handle Arma 2 on "Very High" (1680x1050 resolution) with ease.) So, you'll have extremely smooth gaming.

Building is more cost-effective. But, yeah, if you want to just buy a rig, Alienware is never the wrong way to go! You should buy me one, too. ;) How much money are you willing to spend on it, though. Because you can customize the hardware. (Everything as default is already amazing, but, if price isn't something you care about, upgrading the gpu and the hdd would make it perform even faster._

They're really loud, though. Especially the .50 cals. (I have an AS50. Will probably swap out with a DMR the next time I find one.)
