when i see icons saying "man", "bandit" etc are they all other players? and how does it work? like distance, visability, sound etc. Are markers i see on the map set by other players? Like i saw a big circle with an X in it that was labelled "downed choppa" etc. How do i set waypoints on the map so it shows up in the game and tells me which direction its in and how far away it is?

I got shot and my guy dropped to the ground and the player list thing came up so i assumed i was dead and logged out and back in to see a long timer and once the timer was over i was able to get back up. So my question is, did i just get knocked out and logout before he could finish and loot me or was it a bug? I have no idea since this is only my third day playing lol.
