To hell with primary weapons says the medic

Great idea! I run around Cherno patching up the Bambies and making frequent trips to different hospitals is a dangerous time, maybe if the pistols were given back some of their potency this would be perfect. -
Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
Biaslemon replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
No :( i like my fancy looking barbwire/sandbag combo base, you can't take it away from me -
Yes! Exactly! I've had a few last stand moments when trapped in buildings etc. and those are definitely the funnest times when playing with friends, it always happens when we underestimate the zombies, and if they could suddenly attack in force and swarm the area on mass it would make me think twice about messing with the zombies as i do now.
-
Yeah, but that is totally out of your control, and one that breaks immersion from the game, you don't get to die in a blaze of glory that way.
-
A friend of mine just suggested this idea to me but he isn't a big forum user so here it is, Impossible situations, because lets face it, you can't deal with everything the zombie apocalypse throws at you, i think a random mass spawn of zombies would be terrifying, say you're looting Cherno and you're making a lot of noise, when you turn to leave all your exits are blocked, every alley and street you turn too teems with the undead. You can't shoot your way out, even that LMG you picked up needs reloading some time. The only way to survive this would be to pull an 'Otis' and shoot your buddy in the leg to try and slow the horde down as you make a break a freedom. Not everybody is going to make it out of this situation alive, now imagine if it happened in the woods, you bumped into a roaming herd of zombies moving from town to town, and you're surrounded, you either need to get down and hope they pass or run for your life! It's a random event i think would give the zombies back some of their bite, excuse the pun.

I think the removal of the gamma adjustment setting is very much required, or at least making it not make quite such a huge difference, even on the darkest nights, as long as you have your gamma and brightness up you can see perfectly. It takes away from the immersion, or at least it does for me anyway. I kinda miss those nights where you couldn't see 5 feet in front of you.
-
Yes, brilliant idea! it would definitely stop the shoot on sight culture we have if you actually needed others to say, cook your meat for you, or maybe even tell you which way is north. I very much approve of this :D
-
All the snipers make looting cherno almost impossible, and i for one love that, dayz is designed to be brutal, and hey, the harder you make my life on dayz the better, i dont play it for it to be a cakewalk, so you get sniped every now and then? so what? i still love rocking my lee enfield, chances are if you miss your first shot ol' betsy will take you down ;)
-
i approve of this, clearly it would encourage team work and cooperation if we all lovingly held other quivering, trembling survivors close to us
-
I'm really glad people feel this way about it :D i didn't know if i was alone in thinking we need something to be done about it, it really ruins my immersion using the NVGs, it used to scare the sh*t out of my creeping into a barn at night only to discover a big clump of zombies suddenly appearing in my torch light.
-
it was a soul crushing experience, especially when he came back and finished our newly respawned, trembling bodies :(
-
yeah, the duping is what has caused this problem, everyone and his mum has a pair of NVG's on him/her now, it makes it so i can't go out without them for fear of just being shot in the back in the dark
-
I remember the first night i spent on dayz, a time when we spawned with flares. I hung onto those bad boys like my life depended on it, there was a time when i'd have to run across open fields with a chem light in hand just so i could see my fellow survivors five feet in front me, and raiding a town, with only a single flashlight between three of us. I think that night vision spoils my experience of the game, simply because you can't afford not to use it when you get it, if i don't use it i get shot while i blindly fumble in the dark, if i do use it it takes all the horror out of having to sweep my Remington with a flash light across a field and seeing i've passed too close to a zombie or the tension knowing i'm giving away my position. At the very least i'd love a battery or charge type system to stop them being used so much. When i own them i can't help but use the damn things. I know i may be alone in this but i really do think night vision should be removed.

haha, i didn't think about just making them drop their weapon and drag them away, im going to have to add that to my list of tortures to use on bandits
-
I would love to be able to kidnap people, perhaps tie them up and drag them with a bag on their head so they can't see where you are taking them, i know it would be used to grief many players but i long to be able to drag would-be bandits back to my lair.
