1.5.7 ran perfectly, and now 1.58 will no longer get into a game. I sit reading the server chat waiting patiently for the "Requesting Character Data from server" message to come through. I've played armaII, Arrowhead, and Combined operations multiplayer without issue, re-installed twice, and tried the battleye re-install through steam. Everything seems to be in order, but I can never connect to a single server. I'm stuck staring at this black screen.... Requesting my character data apparently. Anyone have any insight? I'd really like to get back to playing... -D2

Gentlemen(and ladies?), This is what I have found so far.... First and foremost, make sure that you have installed everything correctly... These suggestions are for those of us that have played in the past, and have now come across this loading screen problem for one reason or another. 1. Check your mods folder for the Weapons.pbo File and make sure that it does not read 36,500k as that seems to cause a problem. Replace that file with this one http://www.dayzmod.c...2.4-Weapons.zip This should have an uncompressed size of 36,538KB 2. Make sure you are running the latest version of the Beta Client, and that its verified on the right side of the screen at arma startup. 3. Make sure that your Battleeye client is up to date. Upon joining a server, be sure that you can see the battleeye client registering, and downloading the new client file if needed. You should be initialized before try to join the game from the server screen. 4. If all this fails, and you still get stuck loading, Try to join a server with a private Hive. There are a handful of servers with private hives that work well, but you need to make sure that they are running the same version of the Beta, and DayZ Mod. If you can connect to a private hive, that means that your character data has become corrupt for some reason or another. Mine is corrupt, and I used to be sent to a debug field,but an update hung me at the Black loading screen(No Bar). My issues started with a super odd death, clipping through the ground, and being unable to actually Die... I had to force quit to get out of the server. I have successfully been able to join many servers with private hives, and play again. I'm now working with the Dev Team to get my character data reset on the public hive to be able to play on normal servers. Hope this helps someone... -D2

Try a Private HIve... My character data is corrupted, like many others, and the only way to play is on a server with a private hive. I Figured this out yesturday, after not being able to play since may 18th.

Confirmed that this is a Hive Issue. I've updated per this thread, and can get into servers with private hives. All Official servers hang at the loading screen forcing a alt-F4.

I've been having this problem since 1.7, before that i was being sent to a debug field. I've gone back and forth with the dev team via email, always having the same results. I've wiped everything, manually installed, tried six and commmander, all with no results. I haven't been able to play since may 18th. I'm convinced this is a hive issue, as the orignal fix for people stuck in the debug field was to reset there character data. Unable to play since MAY 18th... with no love. I can't wait for the support when this goes retail! -D2

There are hundreds of us having the exact same issue. Just no current fix, or any attention to our problem. Look at the dozens of threads of people stuck at loading... Its not PC issues, as I could play just fine before may 18th(whatever patch that was). D2

I've been stuck at the loading screens since may 18th. Tried everything, never got out of the load, or the debug field before 1.7. The not being able to play club sucks.

I've been having this problem ever since I bled out in town since someone tried to bandage me up. I was stuck in the ground, and couldn't do anything other than force quit. Since that time, 2 months ago, I would get hung up @ waiting to receive character data. After 2 hours of waiting, I'd be in debug, with no inventory. Since 1.7, I've been hung at the loading screen, and have never been able to get past it, even after 2+ hours of waiting... My problems sound exactly the same as yours, regardless of whether I used steam to launch, or the six launcher. I've gone back and forth with the dev team over email, and they always suggest reinstalling. Well, I've re-installed windows, and it hasn't helped(thought there was something hidden that was effecting something). This is massively frustrating, as I bought ArmaII for this mod, which was awesome for the week I was able to play it.

Doesn't do shit... Join the club. I've been in the loading screen since 1.7.0... and the debug forest from 1.5.6 --> 1.7 I've reinstalled my fucking windows installation and still get stuck there.

I was hoping that all of the fixes that were put into 1.6 would solve my "requestin character..."problems. I'm still spawing after10-15 minutes in the debug field. ATL and Tex servers so far tried and failed. Any thoughts? Spawned in Debug Forest... Sorry for the misstatement. Dallas 3 Fail.

Read the update guys... If the server hasn't updated there HIVE files, you will get this error message. many of them haven't done it yet. The error message was added so you don't sit there with no connection, and are left wondering what went wrong. Find a server with an updated hive file. Its still early.

Nothing is worse than getting in game, to find you are in what i call... The field of dreams. Oh and BTW... you can run forever without seeing anything, so don't try.

I just tried to get into a server with 2 people in it... 12 minutes of character data, and loaded into the field of dreams. I wonder if is PC based? If I install on another machine, perhaps it will allow me to get in? I worry that I'm stuck to a certain degree because of steam. I can't actually verify my files which is totally odd... I wonder if anyone else experiences the same thing with the verification of steam files re downloading the same file time and time again. Anyone willing to try the verification? -D2

I'm in the same boat as you my friend. Every now and then I can actually move, or killmyself. Death is such a sweet release... But Alas, back in the field of dreams.

I would agree with you... but i've never gotten into game. Only into the debug field. and my log in frequency is once ever 25 minutes or so... once i reach the field of dreams, I quit.

I've tried 33 different servers, with the same result. I litterally try to load into them all day. I'm located in Boston MA. I've cleared my drive of everything arma, and tried to reinstall clean to recieve the same results. I can play both arma2, and OA without issue. When I verify the steam cache, I get the same message over and over again. "1 file failed to validate, and will be reaquired" Its always 1.4kb and has happend 13 times so far. I'm not sure that has any relevance. -D2

3 Updates... NO luck. Eventually end up in a dark... lonely.... field. Makes no sense.

I've tried the whold verify integrity through steam, and always have 1 file that gets downloaded... even after I've done it moments before. I'm ever stuck waiting for character data.

Since I updated to 1.5.8, I have spawned into the field after waiting on average of 11 minutes for "Requesting Character data from server". The last thing I did before this happened in 1.5.7 was Fall off a building and Die with a broken leg. When 1.5.8 hit, I could not get past the "requesting Character Data..." Screen without spawning after a very long wait time into the debug area, alone. I've tried 4 re-installs of everything(including steam) with the same results. Now when I spawn after 12 minutes into Debug, I'm lying down, apparently dead... Certainly can't run anywhere!

so i'm not the only one! I've loaded into the debug field 3 times now, after waiting to get my character data for 15 or more minutes. I wonder what would happen if I rolled the install back to 1.57? I can play the Arma Series just fine, so its specific to DayZ. I just want to play with my buds! Hopefully there will be a resolution soon. -Pete

re-installed everything... didn't work. I eventually loaded into a debug field after about 15 minutes. Gave up after waiting for 5 more in that screen after hitting abort and relaoding into the server. Sigh...
