any possibilty to safely hide / save your gear ?
reidloS doG replied to gambla's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is my take on how underground instanced areas should be: They should have a passcode lock on them that is ran off of a rare battery type. Not a uber rare one, but one that if you don't replace every two days, the passcode lock does not work. Or maybe 7 days. Doesn't matter to me. But I think rare batteries are a good way to make underground safe places a actual job to keep, because it should never be guaranteed safe unless you work hard to find said batteries. That means if you forget you even had a storage facility, someone else could take it, change the passcode, and use it for themselves. That way it becomes a commodity. Along with that, if the original passcode maker were to die, the passcode would reset and the lock would work anymore until the same or a new individual were to set the passcode. These end game things should be very difficult to keep in my opinion, so they should be more work than they are worth. They are easily the most worthwhile things in my book, and I'd do anything to create one. This also goes along with the fact you should have to upkeep the underground base. Meaning you have to replace wood or some form of construction every week, or it collapses. This would regulate them quite efficiently and make sure they don't over populate servers. As always, your character is the safest thing to keep things in. -
Has anyone heard what Rocket may be doing for casual players for DayZ Game?
reidloS doG replied to reidloS doG's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I completely agree with you. I was being more specific towards that end game moment. I'm worried that if a group of 50 unique users are working together on a server, they will be able to have a higher advantage in game-play than me. And rightfully so. I'm just worried that building a base underground will take too much time for a group of five guys, and that these end game structures may be catered more to the large groups within DayZ. It's just I'm use to actually playing on a server with twenty people in my group and making the server ours or battling it out with other groups. Those have been my best moments. When I know for a fact John Doe goes to Zelenogorsk at 5:00 P.M. every Thursday to snipe people out in this specific sniping spot, and being able to trap him in it. That familiarity is something I'm most likely going to miss out on with more school work. Chances are very high that Summer of 2014 will be my true DayZ summer, not this current one. I'm just too busy. It's mostly the worries of aging. I simply can't put the time I use to into video games, and I know how it is on DayZ when you are working 4 hours a day. You have everything in that package, enemies, friends, tents, vehicles, and some of the best experiences in video games I've ever had. -
This is actually the main reason I use Steam.

Standalone Zombies a bit OTT?
reidloS doG replied to victusmortuus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Zeds will be just fine. I talked to Rocket on the forums once for putting him on blast for making zombies as difficult as they look in the video. He replied back calmly and told me they were fixing it and that he doesn't want zombies to be godly. The next mod patch after that whole discussion, they were back to their current easy state. -
DayZ on Steam is just fine. I needed to remove my entire DayZ file in order for it to work. It updates auto-magically. Just like with the normal Arma 2 mod, you should be able to play on different maps. Don't see why everyone shouldn't use it. I love the Steam interface so that I can now finally talk to my friends while playing and the screen shot ability isn't bad for those who want to use it. I would imagine DayZCommander is good for playing on Taviana, Namalsk, and Panthera maps since it's just a one click download for DayZCommander.

Sorry for being off topic, but when recording anything with Dxtory, do you find you can't have both your mic AND the audio in your video editor? I know that Dxtory records both, but once I upload any file from dxtory to a video editor (I've used multiple) I can't seem to fucking get audio from both mic and sound coming out, it's always one or the other.

089 001. Or around there. I've played on high pop servers with constant heli fly overs and the mountain around that area REALLY covers a lot. Your vehicles don't get white dotted by heli's because the mountain covers them. I know it's wide out in the open, but I had a Mi-17 there for 3 day, a huey there for 3 more days, then a little bird there for 2 more days till it was found out. People have gotten lazy in this game and don't do grid searches (that's what I did to find tents) anymore. They simply fly around an area and call it quits. I know it's out in the open, so do what you want. Everywhere else is common place for me to check (black forest, rify, NW of Kamenka, all the normal spots, black lake).

You've never played with a large organized group like that. Especially a survivor group. There are more bandits than survivors. Making a base literally creates a brand new hot spot, and word reaches out quickly that that is THE base to infiltrate. Having a large group creates the most interesting experiences I've ever had. People infiltrate the group to get the resources they need and to kill the people within the group. This type of meta-gaming is only possible through these user made bases. Every hour on the hour Devil's castle was under attack. I am not exaggerating when I say this: When people know you have something they want (supplies, cars, weapons, ammo, camo), they will do anything to get it. If that experience isn't something you want, then fine. Solo the game. The opportunity is there. For future reference, I can guarantee you CQF will be a large group that will try and do exactly that. We will protect our borders better than most survivor groups. So if you find yourself interested in fighting that kind of a situation, come attack us or better yet join us. Either way, we both benefit from the situation. There's nothing else to be said on this subject from either of us.

I hope you know being valid and being correct are two different things. Valid is a statement that actually makes sense, it is coherent. Correct means it's verifiable fact, and the way you say it at the end, I think you mean correct. Rocket has stated he would like to implement base-building in some way. If you are soloing, I would imagine his underground storage system he would like to implement as being your option for soloing the game. You could pack your stuff underground in the middle of no where, have the underground storage be near a bush, and only you can access it. Now this is a problem with solo playing if you have an actual base. But if you do have a team to work with, a fairly large clan, this is still not a problem. In DayZMod when it first came out, I was a part of a group called NWO. They actually had 24/7 surveillance on their base camp, a.k.a. devils castle, but soon afterwards stopped doing that because of ghosters and hackers. At the end of a opinion it would be nice to know exactly what that opinion is. I'm not exactly sure what it is on your end, so please formerly type it out. This is what I think you are saying: Because DayZ cannot symbolize 24/7 surveillance from a individual that logs off, the game is not able to have a day to day realistic survival aspect. My opinion: With underground hidden storage and 24/7 group surveillance of an acquired area, it is truly possible to have those mad max moments we've wanted in gaming for so long.

Would private hives exist without hackers?
reidloS doG replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Combat logging isn't much of a problem now with the things they have implemented to stop it. I think if hackers were gone, public servers would be doing ten times better. But hacking is a Arma problem, which is why I'm happy they are making DayZstandalone by themselves and not trying to import Arma 3 and figuring out that new set up. They can lock down the Arma 2 engine, but hacking is already a problem on Arma 3. -
Making a clan [need help first few members will be part owners or admins] JUST NEED HLEP GETTING CLAN STARTED AND MADE
reidloS doG replied to jgroves1997's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
For the love of God, if you are taking this clan seriously, spell check your post before hand. What type of clan is this going to be? Do you have a age requirement? Please, some info for those who might be interested. -
You bored with Bandit/Survivor clans? So am I. Hear me out. [OPEN RECRUITMENT]
reidloS doG posted a topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
This is what I want to do: Create a "secret society" that's main priority is to infiltrate and destroy other groups. Here are the key main things that would be taking place: 1. Initial group is small. Minimum of 4 people. 2. Partake all the way from killing members of infiltrated clan to orchestrating a server wide grand theft auto. 3. No one would ever operate under their real username. What the group would do is get inside group A, and hurt it in the best way possible. To be within it for a few weeks all the way to a few months (if the operation is big enough) and to take it down. I'm not asking to recruit you. I'm asking if anyone is interested in this idea. Before we could actually do this, we need people. If we had 4 people, we would be able to take part in a massive clan catastrophe, where multiple vehicles and clan members would die. We would be detested and remembered from that clan forever. And I'm ok with that. Reply back if interested. -
Our Infiltration Experience with DayZhorror (our story)
reidloS doG posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
http://dayzhorror.com/ If you would like to try and witness or otherwise speak to DayZhorror, there is the link to their website. Stories will be posted here shortly about what we have done to DayZhorror. There will also be a recruitment thread in the recruitment section. Understand that our status as a infiltration group within DayZhorror forces us to have heavy restrictions. The story of Remus John Lupin will be posted within the hour. This is not a post bashing DayZhorror, it is an objective post about the incidents that have been publicly known within DayZhorror. For security reasons we can only post stories that have already been made public by ourselves. *1st edit* Recently we have been in the most interesting situation of our banditing careers. We say we, because to give a name would simply make it that much more easier to find us out. If you look at this account's recent topics for recruitment, you can see that we have been busy gathering individuals to attack a group or clan. The group we chose was dayzhorror. As part of our filtering process so that we didn't have people back stab us so easily, we put two simple filters up: 1) we do not reveal who we are (individual usernames) and 2) we point fingers at those who are not in any way responsible for our actions. We did/do this so that we could create a sense of trust between us and the new recruits who were infiltrating the group we wanted to attack. What we never expected was someone to actually betray us. Rasputin is the member who believed he could simply back stab us and be a true anti-bandit. Within DayZhorror was or is a individual named Remus John Lupin. We told Rasputin that Remus John Lupin was a infiltrator. The truth is, we don't know Remus John Lupin. He could be a alien for all we know. But Rasputin and DayZhorror know more about him than we do. They believe he is the user under this account, reidloS doG. To be honest, this account belongs to us now. Who reidloS doG is doesn't really matter. So the group when forward and banned Remus John Lupin from everything related to them. TS, server, and their website. Remus John Lupin when forward and pushed for a ban appeal within the group, but gladly has been denied. During this ban appeal, there has been small talk here and there as to why he was removed. We believe that the reason for his removal should be made public. The reason we believe this is because the leaders and some small members believe he is the infiltrator, when in reality DayZhorror has shot the wrong man. Why do we see this as an accomplishment? The purpose of this group is to wage a full out war within another group. To take literally the saying "Keep your enemies close and your friends closer." This small little insignificant fiasco has already helped us more than any stealing of a vehicle or killing of a player ever has. More information to come in the future. -

Recruitment is back open. I'm not going to lie, I lost a good 2 people because I had finals. I didn't want to begin a large operation if I couldn't dedicate myself to it. I need 2-4 more people. I would like to start ASAP. All of the idea still stands. Please send me a message if interested. -

I'm glad you bring this up. Becoming friends with these people does not mean that we are not real friends. I have gladly stayed friends with the people I have "betrayed". I have no problem with it. As I have said, the initial reaction is of shock and anger, but then it's back to normal. If I kill someone in COD and pick up their weapon, it is the same as if I had killed someone in DayZ and taken their things. I am not saying that this group should stalk people or harass them. Nor am I saying that these infiltrations should be taken place out of revenge. I'm not doing this to be mean, I'm doing this to play the game in the most effective way I understand it. I want it known that I would never do this in real life. Ever. -

reidloS doG replied to reidloS doG's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
I've done this before and that is the biggest problem. I've never had conflicting feelings because in my mind I personally see infiltrating a group and stealing their things as a part of the game. I've done it before, and still am friends with people who I have done it too. They weren't happy, but it all comes down to it being a game. Whoever has the best stuff and is clever enough wins. This is why I'm looking for people who are interested in this idea, rather than my previous experience of converting people with a clan to turn inward on itself. That didn't go well. It's not for everyone. Sending you a message soon. -

I'm sorry, but this next part is going to sound mean, and I'm not trying to be cause I'm sure you've tried this: When you open DayZCommander (don't use SixUpdater, it's not user friendly), go to the install/update button on the top. Make sure your DayZ and Beta patch are updated VIA DayZcommander. -
