Using a hatchet will get you killed quick. Zombies have more range, and hit harder than you hit them. Dunno about the crowbar, haven't tried one yet.

I'm big on immersion and RP, always have been. This game... when I get some peace and quiet, and can turn the lights down, this game can scare the hell out of me. It evokes other emotions like awe and disgust sometimes too. A couple of nights ago, I was wandering around by the church in Lapatino. As I sat there eating some canned goods and waiting for a friend to meet up with me so we could visit the Airfield, I watched the zombies spawn. About 100m from me, spawned 3 Priests. As I watched these Infected Priests slowly shuffle around, I couldn't help being moved at the thought that their faith didn't save them. Or maybe they sacrificed themselves to be with their flock, I'll never know which it was. I used a flare to draw them to a little ridge underneath a towering tree (oak?) where I put them down and decently buried them. On a side note, who ever was in charge of zombie behavior did an outstanding job. The way zombies investigate a light source at night, then dismiss it as "not-food" is just phenomenal. :)

Dude, I've got a Bison, it shows up at crashed helis, and I've seen soldier clothing in the barracks. I threw it away because it's ugly. The camo sleeveless clothing looks MUCH better, more Rambo. :)

I really don't like having to shoot another Survivor, but I understand that it's just the way it is now, since we seem to have been abandoned on this island. There's not much to do except survive and hunt. Everyone likes to hunt different things, sometimes it's people. Really, today I went with a friend to Cherno, just for a laugh. We climbed to the top of the tall building there, and waited. After awhile other Survivors started showing up. My buddy amused himself by shooting at survivors, and I amused myself by shooting at zombies chasing survivors that got aggroed. After he killed the same 3 people 3 times each, someone finally wised up enough to server hop and take him out. Even though I was only guilty by association, they spawned on top of me and took me out too. Lost my M4A3 CCO and 3 Stanag SD mags, and various other great stuff. But hey, I had a HELL of a good time, in my own little way. :)

"The Day the Sun Rose in the South" is what we'll call this first reported Nuclear Event of Day Z. Sucks to have died, but would have been cool to see. :)

Server VN1 is in Vietnam.

Pro : The direct chat only option really helps immersion, it makes the game just that much more lonely and scary. Con : Had to blast a guy yesterday, and again today. Distance was about 110m on the first one, and about 80m on the second. I tried reaching them on direct chat, both voice and text. Neither one responded after 3 attempts of each type, and I didn't want to risk being a bit part in some Hero's story (the part where he got great gear from some idiot). So I wasted them. Got some great gear too.

The M4a3 does NOT have burst fire. It goes between Semi and Full. The flashlight is a great tool, the button to activate it is "L".

I've been on about 10 servers today that claim (in their text line) to be GMT+5, GMT-7, GMT-5, and they are all wrong. I don't think it's all working like it's supposed to, or people just aren't setting it anymore.

How many vehicles can a server spawn? Like, if someone grabs the motorcycle at Berezino, is it gone forever? Will it respawn if the server is restarted (a normal restart, to clear lag)? Will it respawn if it gets destroyed? Will it respawn if a certain amount of time passes, but someone still has the first one?

I love this idea, but it would be really bad for people that get spawn killed. Maybe there can be some kind of safety, like if you die in the first 5 minutes of being logged in you don't get the cool down period, I dunno. Neat idea though, will make people more cautious.

Actually, that's a pretty good idea. I'd +1 you, but you wouldn't feel it. +1 ing you in my head!

Awesome man, looks like it'll be a good and terrifying series when you are done with it. On the server thing, I saw a locked server earlier, and in the description, it stated "no saves". Apparently, a machinima server IS going, and they combat the cheating aspect by not saving anything on there. Good luck with it, I'll be looking forward to more. :)

I would totally shoot a man for what just may be the LAST can of Pepsi I will ever see. I love that stuff. And don't even let me hear that you may have some beef jerky on your person. I'll actively hunt you down for that!
