You know, I spent about 2 days using the crossbow. You know how many bolts I was able to recover? About 25% of them that hit, which is just awful. The only reliable way to reuse crossbow bolts? Never hit your target. Dude's not a troll, he's just been unlucky.

What is rocket doing about dc'ing players

It's considered a delicacy in Day Z, it has a lower spawn rate than NVG's, or at least it used to.

Day Z endgame suggestion (Warning: long post)
Kophka replied to oebus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is a really really good idea. Added content is an GOOD thing, and I'm glad suggestions like this are coming along while this game is still in Alpha (the phase where new shit gets added, vs Beta, where bugs get fixed, but content is finalized). There is not any way to get ideas like this to the devs, short of them seeing it, and going "that sounds neat". In that vein, I'd suggest making a catchier title for the thread, as "Want End-Game Now" has been beat to death, and devs more than likely skip over those threads. -
You also realize that none of these weapons we find are new in the box? If you look at the destruction/state of vehicles/state of buildings around, it's pretty clear that Chernarus has a been a wasteland for quite sometime. These weapons have been sitting out since then, and they are going to be dirty, corroded, rusty, and generally unreliable. I'd sure clean ANY gun I found that had been sitting in a deerstand for months, wouldn't you?

I've tried finding you on here and on IRC, but to whoever is in charge of TX7, it badly needs a restart. The server keeps "hiccuping" every few seconds, and is unplayable. It's been going on since Monday, and all of your regulars would greatly appreciate it.

It's totally a Freemason symbol, right? What did I win?

I am SO confused. What the hell happened??
Kophka replied to catch_22's topic in New Player Discussion
It takes 10 slots to hold a primary weapon (shotgun/xbow, etc) and 5 slots to hold a sidearm. Right now, if you don't have room in your bag for what you put in it, it tosses it into Limbo. Your starting Coyote Pack only has 8 slots when completely empty, so any primary will vanish on you. This mod is in Alpha, and it is kind of buggy. Bugs are being fixed, even though this IS Alpha (when game mechanics themselves get tested/storyline/new content), while Beta is for bug fixing. Rest assured though, your problem is on the fix list in 1.7.2, and will be fixed. Check for "Items Disappearing" on the forums/bug list. -
Why do people feel that they are able to take someone else's work, and then not abide by the guidelines set forth by the guy/team that made it? What is with all this "I have the right to have this on my server, even though I had absolutely nothing to do with creating it, I just wanted to hop on the bandwagon, and I don't have to follow the rules" attitude. So much "gimme-gimme" and entitlement these days. Follow the damn guidelines if you want to host a Day Z server, it's a pretty simple concept.

Sounds good, would be a game changing feature that adds both realism AND challenge. Two things Rocket wants!

IF a zombie apocolypse really did happen
Kophka replied to nooblord's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lol, yet another "shooting other people for kicks is totally realistic" thread? At least this one has a catchy title. As has been stated before, it's human instinct to team up when there is danger. Even consummate loners would be looking for people they could trust to at least trade with occasionally. The drive to just go batshit crazy and start wasting every normal human you see is what makes the Infected the Infected. It's not normal human behavior, but there might be a fractional percentage of normal people that it happens to. Maybe I'm wrong, and you're the .0001 (or w/e) %. More power to you I guess. In a real zombie apocalypse, you'd either a) be ready, or b) die, or c) happen to be lucky enough to find some people that you can team up with to survive. -
Amunition Refil Glitch Fix - Requires feature to combine partially used mags
Kophka replied to DesertRose's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What they REALLY need to do is : change the entire ammo system. Players should be able to find boxes of ammo, and have to carry them around. Then magazines can be scarce, and you have to refill your magazines when ever you can find some quiet time to do so. I imagine boxes of up to 50 for pistol/rifle rounds and boxes of 25 for shotgun shells should do it. That's what you'd find laying around most of the time, if you were lucky enough to find ammo. Finding spare magazines could, and probably should, be really difficult, usually having you resort to taking the magazine when you find a gun, but leaving the gun behind (every gun found should include a magazine to start with). -
Game gets dull after fully geared (suggestions for Arma 3)
Kophka replied to Torothin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Adding power-creep is NEVER a solution. The only solution is to make the game so brutal and sadistic that finding an m4 or a military grade sniper rifle is an awe-inspiring event. Hell, just making it through 3 nights in a row as a solo player should be an epic feat worthy of it's own ABC mini-series (I know, my age is showing). Just my 2¢. :) -
As far as we can deduce from the forums, the Infected are NOT dead. They still rely upon oxygen to live, which means anything that causes blood circulation to stop can kill them, just like us. Heart destroyed, no blood left, brain destroyed, shock/trauma.

Bump. This server is still freezing every few seconds.

I'd totally be a bush-pilot on some server, flying cases of beans/soda and medical supplies to people in need. I'd need a friendly-ish server, and global chat/radio. Then some volunteers to help me raid hospitals and supermarkets for supplies over and over again. :D

Neat start man, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of it.

I've been wondering why in the heck we don't have a bush plane in Day Z! Been hoping since day 1 that there would be a piper cub or something put in-game. I support this idea, and can't wait to see a plane flying around the Apocalypse. Signed PS: One thing that needs to be addressed is off-map flying. Big problem with anything that can cover a lot of ground is people stashing stuff where it can never be found. I totally applaud people that can find a good hiding spot within the map, and have nothing but contempt for people who exploit. Also : what if a forumite that could model made a Sea Plane version?

This is a pretty neat suggestion, I definitely like it. Kudos man!

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Kophka replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Game sweeping changes? Absolutely insane conditions to survive in? A break from the ho-hum of having leet frikkin' gear 5 minutes after spawning? YES! Do this, please do this. For all of us, do this. -
Help The Yogscast Noobs Thread! - Post Your Tips!
Kophka replied to MissBehave's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Linking up with other new players is probably the single toughest part of starting your Day Z career. Even if you are in TS, it can be really difficult to land-nav and find each other. Tips : Read the location name on the bottom right of your screen. It appears whenever you spawn in (every time, even if your character is old), and can give you a clue as to your location. It only lasts a few seconds, so pay attention! Landmark to landmark nav is the only way to go. If you just pick a direction you feel is "West" (or w/e), you will get turned around and helplessly lost. Even a distant tree can be a landmark, and the entire map can be crossed going from "tree to tree". During daylight hours, you can use shadows to determine direction, but cloud cover can get you lost pretty easily. Two inexperienced travelers trying to find each other can be a a horrible experience. Designate one person as the finder, while the other(s) stay at a recognizable landmark. Once you locate a map and a compass, it's all pretty easy from there. Check houses and supermarkets for the best chance of finding either.
