    M4A3 CCO or M14 EP1

Off-topic a bit, but if you love the dmr, there is a civilian version of it, the M1a M21. Gonna set you back about $2k. http://www.springfie...ry.php?model=20 Edit : $3k O.o
  2. That debug menu is a bit weird, isn't it? The satchel charges are a legit item. If you mouse over it, it will say "pipe bomb" in the info part of the menu, which is the id they go buy in the game. They only spawn at the barracks and are extremely rare, so if you see alot of them then someone has been duping. :)

    M4A3 CCO or M14 EP1

That's a tough choice, my favorite gun (M1a/M14) vs the only M4 I like in Day Z. The M4 is great because of the red dot sight and flash light, but I'd go with the M14. One shot stopper from 600m out, a red dot zeroed at 350m (look, he looks like he has a pimple for a head/ *squeeze trigger*/dead sniper), and a fashionable walnut stock (still looking for the ability to butt stroke people, Rocket).
  4. Lemme tell you a little story about a guy that had been waiting for an apocalypse survival game for ages, finally found one, and then almost destroyed the entire experience for himself. I know I said "little", but it's a good story. :) When I had first heard of Day Z from my friend in teamspeak, I was floored. Finally, the gaming experience I had been searching for! I downloaded the mod, went through all the first-timer's troubles of getting it installed, and spawned in to my first life. I (we) had no idea that your name would appear for a few seconds when you log in, so when I spawned by some wooden docks, I was completely lost. I had a friend in what I later found out was Solnichniy, a friend in Balota, a friend in Cherno, and myself, by this little wooden dock. Having only played the Harvest Red missions a couple of times, I was completely lost, WE were all completely lost. Of the 4 of us, only one person vaguely knew where he was at (Balota), but he didn't know where the other locations were from there. We all could see train tracks, so we decided to use that as a land mark to find each other. After spending about 30 minutes running first one way, then the other, I finally met up with everyone at Balota, and we proceeded to loot the airfield. After gearing up at the airfield (a couple of us still had just a sidearm), one of our guys had the brilliant idea of consulting an online map. This is when the only maps of Chernarus were plain, normal maps, and the only info they had on them was the town names in both Cyrillic and English. We weren't sure which buildings were lootable in Day Z yet, so we investigated every building we found, and managed to survive (and survive well) by just wandering the highways from town to town and barn to barn. We had run-ins with bandits and friendly survivors constantly, but that's a story for another time. About 3 days after we started, we heard about deer stands. We began marking our alt-tab maps with each deerstand we knew the location of. and soon one of our guys found an online map with every deerstand shown. We grabbed it, and survival just got a lot easier. We had all gotten used to the game, and now had a general idea of our location when we logged in, new life or old, so finding deerstand loot was a cakewalk most of the time. About a week after we started, we fell in with a large clan, and found out about camps and hoarding. These guys were awesome people, really great, but they were playing Day Z to WIN it, instead of experience it. They gave us copies of a loot map, that showed every enterable building in the game. With multiple camp sites set up on our home server, and multiple vehicles (including helicopters), we were all set. Between knowledge of our camps, and friends that could pick you up anywhere on the map, fear of death just completely fell by the wayside. A month after starting the game, we had loot maps, vehicle spawn maps, loot tables that showed the chances of what spawned where. and reams of people we could call upon for assistance. Things were starting to get dull. There was still some fun to be had in pvp ing, but the game had turned into a deathmatch mode that JUST happened to let you starve to death if you were paying attention. We'd raid the airfields even if we didn't need anything, just in the off-chance some server hopper would be there looking for a fight. Two months later, and everyone is gone. I had quit, my clan had quit, and all of the big clan we played with had quit. There were much better deathmatch experiences to be had elsewhere, and the survival aspect of Day Z was a non-issue now. We had "won" Day Z, as soon as we spawned we could be fully geared in 10 minutes with a bit of luck and coordination. We knew the hot spots, which routes to take to avoid people, and what to do when we saw someone (90% time, shoot first). About a week after I quit, I decided to try it again. This time, no loot tables, no alt-tab maps (not even a basic one), and, for the most part, being all alone. Once again, I am completely lost, completely starving, completely terrified of zombies, players, ladders, and doors that may break my legs. I'm also completely having the most completely fun experience I've EVER had in a game. Do yourself a favor: after you "win" Day Z with your maps and tables, try it again, with no outside help beyond the occasional friend or chance-met stranger. You'll be glad you did.
  5. Longest kill shot without a scope was a little under 600m with a Lee Enfield. Top of the hospital in Berezino, some guy on a hill was nice and skylined, and I fired 3 shots. Not sure how many of the 3 hit him, or which ones did, but I got the murder for it. He shouldn't have shot first. :)

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

I'm glad the respawn button is going away. If you need to meet up with friends, well, getting there is half the fun, isn't it? Where's your sense of adventure people?!?! To the people that are concerned about not having enough time to play with friends because of random spawn points, I have a long answer and a short answer. Long answer : If your friends have more time to play then you do, then just be the guy that sets the landmark/meeting point, so that your friends can use their time advantage to meet up with you. They can travel to you while you work/eat/sleep/chase kids. Also, if you only get to play 10-15 minutes at a time, chances are your friends aren't relying on you, because you have to go as soon as something gets started. Wait until you have some more free time to play, and use your 10-15 minutes to watch videos/browse the forums or something. Short answer : If you only get to play 10 minutes at a time, then just don't. Play when you have more free time. :)

    An-2 Colt (Large Biplane)

Still waiting for my chance to be a Bush Pilot. Still waiting to fly in medical gear/food/drinks to people in need! Also, float planes would be neat, they'd be really vulnerable (only so many places inland to land).

    Horse!

I'm 100% behind the idea of horses Horses are an integral part of any post-apocalyptically themed bull-session (which we have nearly every week) in my part of the world. Having a mounted posse of end-of-the-world survivors at my back is the penultimate expression of how I picture surviving the last days. I've even got a notebook FULL of plans to build stables and start a thriving economy based on horses, and what trade goods and what not I'd deal in if the world ended tomorrow. That said, as much as I support this, I doubt it would ever happen. The engine doesn't seem to like horses (the only ones I've seen were really weird), and if you can't fire your carbine or pistol while mounted, it would be the most heartbreaking thing I've encountered in this game, and would most likely make me almost-cry (something in my eye dammit). Great idea, it really is, but it would take either a super-coding-genius, or a whole new game engine to implement.

    Minecraft gets it right. MineZ

I love this, guy makes a post talking about things that should be implemented in Day Z, and are currently in a mod in minecraft. Never mentinos "go play this". Instantly people began saying "I don't play minecraft" in various insulting ways. As to your suggestions OP, points 1-4 are definitely something that needs to be changed in Day Z. Point 1 : There have been suggestions of adding a new "shout" channel. We can only hope it comes sooner rather than later. 2 : We've been asking for a new, faster "I'm friendly gesture" for a long time. Find one of the threads about it that you agree with, and support it please. :) 3&4 : This is something that the devs are currently working on, and a fix is coming soon™, just be patient. Points 5 and 6, we really don't need, they just make the world a friendlier place. I'm not a fan of "friendlier" places myself, as I like the game being brutal. Points 1-4 give us more tools in the toolbox to make our own friends and enemies, but again, 5 and 6 aren't really needed.
  10. Hey Vaq, I'm on your new server, and it's working just fine.
  11. I can play on other servers normally, no problems at all. Did you guys ban me for something? O.o
  12. Ok, I tried under Kophka (my default profile) and Kozchei (brand new profile). As Kophka, I got kicked for client not responding again, and as Kozchei, I get stuck at "loading" with a progress bar above it.
  13. IGN is Koschei, I have no idea what my PID is
  14. Both 1 and 2, Vaq. Like I said, other 95168 servers play just fine, so I don't know what's going on. All the help you can provide is enormously appreciated. :)
  15. It's Battleye version 1.164, Vaq. Do you have a link to the correct one?
  16. Hey Vaq, your server is trolling me I think. Every time I log in, it first tells me "Battleye Client is up-to-date", then 1 minute later, kicks me with "Battleye Client not responding". I can play on other 95168 servers just fine, but not my home server. :(

Battle eye kick from every server

It's really funny that battleye, the "anti cheat" is keeping droves of legit players from playing, while hackers still have free reign to do as they wish. Every time there is a Beta update (which seems to be about every 22 hours). Bohemia should really really review Battleye's contract...
  18. When ever I start getting kicked for "battleye client not responding", I have to run Arma 2 on steam by itself again (w/o beta shortcut). It goes through first time set-up all over again, and works normally after that. Try that if you have Steam version and have the battleye kick problem.
  19. I don't know if you've been keeping up with the interviews Rocket does from time to time, but zombies, they are a changing. He's already said he'd like to implement a system where fresh infected are super human like they are now (comes from not being afraid to tear muscles and wear themselves out, I suspect) and older infected start to "deteriate" as they age. The longer an infected goes without food/water, the weaker it becomes. There will be "old" infected that can barely shuffle or crawl along, Just have to give Rocket some time guys. Issues that he has to address : Infected despawning. Can't have old infected if they disappear and reappear constantly, so he'll have to find a way to have them stay on the map. He tried that with the 1.7.2.1, to stress test the servers, but the infected wouldn't move when the time came that they normally despawned. It's a good start, keep it up Rocket!

    Randomly Scripted Events Ideas

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this kind of idea. Day Z is a "sand box" and I for one love finding more toys in the sand box! I'll never understand people that view content as "bad". :)

    dayz loot finder

Yeah, it probably won't get you banned, but what's the point? "Winning"? How do you win in Day Z? Same goes for the offline maps, loot tables, all the other meta-gaming tools out there. When I first started playing Day Z, man it was terrifying, Had no idea where I was, what I could find where, who that guy was, and why I was being shot at. After a while, I had the Day Z map to alt-tab out to, I had a loot table open, I could find anything I wanted any time, even without a compass or in-game map. It got dull. I quit Day Z, because I had already "won" as soon as I spawned in and got a location name. 2 weeks later, I decided to try it again. This time, no maps, no loot tables, no outside "helpers" at all, and all of my clan members/friends had quit too. All of a sudden, this game was terrifying again. I spawned, and immediately started looking for food/water, picked a direction, and started heading that way. I had forgotten how much fun, how much an adrenalin rush being completely lost and scared of zombies/players can really be. Now when I come upon a town with a lootable house, it's like pay-day, (except my boss deosn't try to eat me when I pick up my check), it's exciting and opens up new opportunities. I know that telling you "don't use that, it will ruin the game" won't sway you in the least, but at least take this advice : Use your cheats/helpers for a little while, until the game becomes screamingly boring and repetitive. Then start all over with nothing, you'll have more fun than you ever have in this game.
  22. Really though, when the "friendly fire" message shows up, most of the time it is someone killing in the debug forest/hills. Killing in those locations IS a bannable offense, and if caught, reported, and verified, you will most likely get banned from the game completely. I'm not saying that's what you did, but it's probable that those were the thoughts running through the admins head when he saw the text. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6931-notice-killing-in-debug-forest/
  23. It's pretty awesome that zombies are a lot smarter and more difficult than they used to be. However, the game needs to be changed a bit more. First of all, since it is EXTREMELY difficult to get into range of a lootable building (as it should be), they need to quit being frikken' empty for 20 minutes. Loot should spawn as soon as the building is within draw distance, because all that work for frikken' nothing blows hard. Second, nerf the zombie view range for stationary players. I can get that can see you crouch walking from 80m, ok, but getting aggroed while hiding in the tall grass at 50m away is just dumb. Third, improve the distraction values of tin cans/bottles/flares (in the day time). Give us some tools to survive this, we desperately need them.
  24. The new Zombie sight radius. It's pretty insane. I get that a moving object can be visible for quiet aways away, but I just got spotted, crouched in tall grass, not moving, at 50m. That's a bit much, isn't it? The grass was almost as tall as I am, and I'm NOT moving. There's no way I should have been spotted.
