Team-Arcus.com is now hosting a new 50 slot DayZ server that runs on a Private Hive. We are currently working on getting the Whitelist working 100% and we are looking for new players that want a serious server with good uptime and great Admins. We hosted a very popular server before with the name EU20 but decided to close it because of all the hackers that raided the server. But its the time of new tools that let us fight the hackers in a new and better ways than what was possible before. Whitelisting is one step in this process and we believe that the members we currently have like this a lot aswell. We now hope that you like this idea aswell and want to come join us today! Go to Team-Arcus.com to find more information regarding our server and how to get whitelisted.

Randomly kicking and banning from DE5 "Kalles.."
[email protected] replied to dee (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Kalle you need to understand the rules before arguing here. Its says clearly in the rules that NO kicking / Banning for friends is allowed. This does affect all servers even yours, this rule is a big one as this game is very unforgiving when it comes to getting kicked. If you are on the NW airfield (as an example) in a big fight with 20 Zombies, probably the last thing you want is to get someone kicked due to your friend getting tired in their fingers from pressing enter to get in. And the next time you spawn on a new server you have ass full of Zeds around you, is this what you would like to get? Dont think so, if you want it I think you are just at bit dumb. The only solution to this is if the devs mange to get a way to reserve slots for admins/friends on the server. Then its a different business as your friends always have some spots on the server open (If not all taken that is). -

This was a kinda hard way to say it perhaps, but its mainly what Im trying to say about my lack of ability to moderate the server if I dont understand whats said in the chat. -

I dont understand what you want to achieve in some parts of what you say here Mojo. This isnt a discussion of anarchy and going against the staff of DayZ. All we try to do is having a discussion about this "issue" and clearly both me and Rocket agrees in this being a discussion about an important topic. If we want to work against them you wouldn't see us in this thread at all, we would just be out there on our servers doing whatever we wanted until Rocket or some other admin caught us doing it. We do totally respect and understand the rules, but in a case like this its just pathetic not to say what you want as nothing like this project becomes great without the help from all the people out there. I dont want to force this on Rocket either, we just brought it up and are fighting for what we think. If this wasnt what you meant with what you wrote, then Im truly sorry and you can look aside from what I just wrote. Back to what the discussion is about: The problem here with you logic is that you think we want every people on earth to speak english. That is not the case at all, we want server admins to have the ability to choose what main language there is on a server. In a perfect world I would be happy to see some swedish servers, some russian servers, some multilingual server, some english servers etc. etc. This isnt the biggest of all problems right now, but if the mod goes big in the future I think its common sense to let servers have different rules regarding the preferred language. -
Its a problem when the game thinks its not leveled ground etc. The only thing you can do about is try to find another place to put it. The problem will probably be fixed sometime though, but for now its just keep trying in different places until it works for you.

Great to hear! Should we continue then? :) Naah just kidding, but its great to have conversation that is mature and not just people yelling and being crazy. It felt good to let you know what I and some other think so you know for future decisions. Its just sad, when some people have to use the "racist" card in all this as its clearly not a case of racism (From my side that is, I dont take responsibility for any other comments in this thread). I hope we can find some other great topic to discuss for a while soon :) But to make a last thing clear, can I as an admin kick a player for yelling in the global chat etc. I know what the new patch did, but to be honest it has a to small of an effect, they simply ignore it. Or more than that they love to shout in the global chat when they are waiting for server response etc. One other thing that I think should be discussed with this is the use of poor language. They must be eligible for a kick right if they use words like p#nis etc. -
UK3 Admins hate to die? or even HACKS?
[email protected] replied to proxzor's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
But it did take a few minutes after his death before he crashed the server right? If so it should be saved already in the DB. I dont think its a really good way to avoid this now when things is saved in the background, before the last patch you could just hard exit the game and it never saved. But as it is now I think it should be saved on big "happening" like player death etc. -

[email protected] replied to proxzor's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I dont think he managed to get what he want anyway as the server should autosave as soon as something happens with him. If he dies it should get saved instantly. But sure its suspicious and it would be great if rocket could take a look at it. -

Ok, Ill let this go now then. Sorry if I have made you angry in any way. It has never and will never be my point. Its clear that this will never go the way I see it so Ill rest my case now. Thanks for taking you time to answer it and saying what you think and I respect that very much even if we couldnt agree in this question. -

I do very much respect your decision Rocket. But I must say that JayRoes points here is way more logical to me. I dont think the way with supertight control of these things on server are good for the mod or you as a person as it just keep getting more for you to control. There isnt any other game with personally hosted servers that dont allow server admins to have some control. And I think this is one of the big one to handle. If you do exactly as JayRoe said above me here, there wouldnt be any problems with this in the future. And please, for the final time. This has nothing to do with what country or not your from. Its simply a discussion that we want the ability to have a language on our server that everyone can join in on. I dont this should be called a case where everyone wants their server to be special, its common sense to me that I get to control what language that goes in what server. I have really tried to meet you halfway here rocket by saying that English is what I want in my server. If I should take it down the road to the end I think we should be able to host servers with what language you want. If you join a server that is marked "Swedish" then it should be swedish in there. I think this mod is turning into something big with some more time and then it needs to let admins decide things like this. In this way we could control the problem with international people on servers hosted in countries with poor internet aswell. If you live in a country with poor internet, then you could join a server with your language only on. Im pretty sure it would be great to join a server where you can speak you native tongue and play with decent ping. Isnt this kinda Win-Win ? I do think so, but I want an international server with the commonly used international language English that so many understand and use in daily life. By this I could have a server that I can control the chat on with whats said and not. And people that join it will hopefully understand english and can communicated on that language with all of us. Please remeber Rocket, we are here because we love this mod with all our heart and we want to help you it bring to all the people that want to play it. I dont think its fair to step on us when we have a very basic demand like this. I think it should be in the info page for each server what language is preferred or if its multilingual. That way you dont need to bother about this. It would just be very natural for most people I think to find servers that have different language requirements. And if you want to play on a server with multilingual policy, then its fine to just go ahead and play on that one. This doesnt hurt the game, its just the way it needs to be I think. And so as a final, Please remeber Rocket. We love you for what you have done with this mod and all around it. But I think its time to let things like this go to the server admins hands. I dont think you have to do this in any way, I just want to discuss things that I think is standard in these situations. Your control over the servers with the strict policy of not using spawning tools is great, I think thats a thing you should keep hard on. But this is so different to that in the way that if a game is internationally known I think that you need to let things like this through so people that speak Spanish, French, Swedish, Danish, Chinese or whatever can have servers where their native tongue is recognized and known. It would be so much easier that way, nobody would have to complain about the russians (In this case), they could just go play on a russian speaking server if they dont speak the servers preferred language (If its not multilingual now then). I think it would solve all these issues that Im sure will grown to many more if you dont let specialized language servers through the net. I dont think you have to control this in any way other than looking in the servers name so its correct with the preferred language and so on. The bottom line in this is that I dont want to mess with you in any way Rocket. I dont really understand though how you cant see this from our point of view. Its clear that more than I think like this and Im sure it will be more and more the bigger the mod gets. The daylight chaser wouldnt be a problem either as Im sure there would be servers in all countries that have both normal and reversed time for people to choose from. Sorry for the very long post here :) Just wanted to get it all out so you might see it from our point of view this time aswell. -

Haha great pic. Seems like they had a lovely time there :)

Great that you admins do deal this. Its great to see that the rules that you have set is lived after aswell. I really dont like to see the servers with 2/40 in there and then they are locked when I try to join.

Randomly kicking and banning from DE5 "Kalles.."
[email protected] replied to dee (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I just plain hate this if its true. Just because your are big and brave enough to host your own DayZ server (Oh my) doesn't mean you can do what the hell you want. I really do hope that this server gets the punishment it deserves. I have been on to many servers (other than DayZ) where people are being dick cuz they can afford a server. They really do think they rule the world. How often hasnt you got banned on a server in lets say BF3 for hacking just cuz you happen to kill an Admin that got mad at you for it. And the server logs he refers to doesnt mean a jackshit here as he might have kicked/Banned you for the cheating even if you just talked to him. The best thing would be if the devs checked the logs and found that he was kicking people and saying these things in the chat. The best thing is probably to just leave their server alone and go for another one instead with less assholeish admins :) -
The "Lazy Owner" Issue
[email protected] replied to Shrapnel (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Ok, thats actually great. But how long is that time? It must be like a day right? Cuz I guess most server admins aint working full time just running a DayZ server. So there could be a few hours before they are able to do anything. But how are you doing right now, are you guys working on some kind of totally custom server software that will allow things like autoupdate and stuff? -
The "Lazy Owner" Issue
[email protected] replied to Shrapnel (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Ill vote for the #2 solution with a twist :) It should be made so that servers dont go offline with a bang, they should have a small timeframe with countdowns ingame etc. telling people to disconnect as soon as possible to update to the new version. Then like 5-10 minutes later the server restarts and the update is applied. This way it would be very painless and nobody would get suddenly kicked the same second an updated is there. Thats way I would like it anyways, an autoupdater is always the best when possible to achieve imo. -

The main thing with this is my lack of possibilities to run a server correctly if I dont now whats said in the chat. And I as an admin must be able to have the server in the way we need to control it (regarding language now then). It cant be a free roam of all different languages on it as I wouldnt know anything about what said and not. I wouldnt have a single clue if a non-english person said something inappropriate to me or any other player on the server. So this is a control I must have in order to administrate a server the way people expect me to. I have meet people from all parts of the world in my days of gaming and I dont dislike anyone just because of their native language. But in the situation Im in as a admin on some server I need to have that little control. -

Only english speaking people? Why does it matter if they're not talking to you? If I have an international server with English only in the chat and they want to join and use the chat, then yes in my opinion. They are very welcome to come and play with me even if they dont know the english language. But they shouldnt be using the global chat as its very hard for me to understand anything at all what they are saying just as much as they cant understand me. So as I said, they are very welcome to play but perhaps not spam the chat with non-english on an English speaking server. -

We really do need a good answer from rocket here with the right directions to go from. Its not enough to just say racism in this discussion as its clearly not about racism in my eyes. I dont want to sound like a douche in any way, but if I have an International server on my own. Shouldnt I be able to make it English only if I want to? It should ofc. be clearly marked as english only and everything. But I must be able to IMO. Thats not racism to me as its just a way for me to get a server where all english speaking people can come and have a great time. I hate when I try to administrate something and the other part doesnt speak english or any other language that I know. I just can do my work right there because he cant understand me either. That is a really bad thing, as I as an Admin need to have the control on the server. Therefore I think you should be able to only allow english chat on the server that you own and let people play on. I dont want to "ban all russians" or anything just that as a server admin you should have the ability to decide what language people should respect and speak in the chat etc. And Im not an native english speaking person either as you probably can tell by what I did write above this. But still I know how to write so other do understand what I want to tell.
