DayZ Developer Blog 7th September 2013
Embroil replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Looks better and better every time. The rat animation is great. I have an idea about taming the rat and train it for yor needs (fetch small objects, plant a bomb on it, distract zombies). Also handcuffing a zombie will be awesome. -

E3 Expo - June 2013 - Interviews and Gameplay
Embroil replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
All this looks nice (the animation I mean), what i'd really love to see is more interaction with enviroment. Like I want to ambush a person in a building but it's onlythe front door I can get in. I want to climb through the window, or climb a tree and jump on the roof and get in trough the window on second floor. Also the architecture is great with new accessable houses, but what the houses really need is basements, dark and spooky ones. -
I've given it a lot of thought. The idea of putting this much realism in game is a good, the only question is how deep you want to go. For example if a person suffers from diarrhea he looses body fluids wich means he need more oral intake not only for compensating the loss, but also to fight the source of diarrhea (usually infection or poisoning) how to calculate that loss and intake, well good question. Also a question of overall health and endurance comes to mind. If a person suffer from something he must be limited in his actions (less runing, bad aiming, blured vision, etc...), and there must be gradeing of theese action limits. From a medical point of view apart from cholera there are more common diseases like pneumonia, meningitis, tetanus, simple viral and bacterial infections. I very much also hate it that a person is healed just by taking 1 tablet, applying 1 bandage. Nothing is healed at one time you need a therapy wich consists of taking up a dose for a period of time to make medicine work, and to change bandages, because the become bloodstained and dirty over time, until the wound heals.

Good for you.
-
Yeah that's what I mean. Everyone survives in their own way, but it becomes much simplier when you're not doing it alone.
-
In my opinion the main Idea would be to form a group in wich every character will have a role (medic, engeneer, sniper, scout etc.) it shouldn't be big, but the cooperation would be built on unique abilities of each member of the group which will help to survive the whole group. Like in DnD.

Dude... you do understand that........ whatever, send me the adress.
-
If they gonna apply pooping and cholera in game I'll mix them some good supplies :P
-
Guess I'll have to start with mine to save others, right?
-
I'm in Moscow its almost midnight, I got 4 24 hour shifts in hospital day after day starting tomorrow, and I sit here and click F5 every 20 minutes (that is one "two and a half man" serie) and eagerly wait for an update for DayZ developement. What the hell is wrong with me. And I understand, that I just reaaaaaaaly want a sneak peek into what's coming up.

No info abaout the zombie pathfinding =(. I just got an idea, let's send our photos to devteam, so they'd put them in game. Could make really freak out when you'd see yourself-zombie running at you. Or some zombie-celebrities.

Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
Embroil replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
A few times I really wanted not only to jump but the ability to climb, like in Assasin's creed, buildings, houses, fences even trees. It' be nice if this ability would be in SA. -
You should have started your speech with words: "Dear Santa....".

I'd prefer that there would be head flashlights to free you hands -
I'd put more loot in zombies (food and drinks I mean), or ammo\medical supplies in military zombies, but then they will be just farmed as well. A certain time in spawning will make 150 people come to one area of good loot and make a bang, bang party for a couple of winners. So, actually I don't see how the loot thing is gonna work, that's why i'm interested.

Yep, sounds like a plan. And a queue of sniper hungry hachetman runnig up the hill...... -
I'm really interested will there be any change in spawning of vechichles, helicopter and equipment. I mean in the mod you can just go to barracks in northern airfield and loot yourself up pretty well, and it wasn't quite interesting.
-
well there aren\t many hospitals on the map, most of them located in major cities
-
I already imagine that in cherno there will be more people than zombies.
-
Hmmmm base construction, how will it look like? Making construction vehichles tobuild fences, wachtowers and barraks.

Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?

What I ment was that with some sawing tools you can eventually add pockets to your backpack, or arrange the pockets a backpack already have as youd'like for your own comfort. It will make a backpack not found but made by you which will make it unique for you in some sort. -

I had an idea to make the backpack customised by yourself. Saw in a couple of pocket, to arrange items the way you'd prefer it. Say you like your bandages away from other things saw in 4 slot pocket and place your bandages there. You'd start with a most simple backpack and by surviving add more slots to it and arrange them as you'd like. -

Sooooooo when does this closed testing start anyway? -
I wrote earlier that to make a more meaningful life character must be unique, and to make him unique he needs to make unique customised items for himself.
