There is currently nothing dangerous in forests, so I think the point of putting wood in the small towns was to reintroduce your player to danger. If there were zombies or zombie animals in most forests...

Not that I think the mechanic makes sense, but you can find a shitton of wood in the villages, particularly barns.

The point of this game is surviving, not collecting shinies -go back to wow please. Knowing the layout of the map/spawn locations greatly cheapens the appeal of this game - I just don't understand some people...
