Want to host a DayZ Server? Read in here.
BigMorgan (DayZ) replied to Antipop (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I guess at this point we might have to wait until a more-streamlined method of whitelisting servers is created. I hope but won't demand that doing so is a priority of the dev team. -
Good place to safely and quickly get food up north but I did get my first kill within the castle's outer walls so don't assume... Once inside the main tower you're in an extremely defensible position. Unless your opponents have a tank or 5-6 SMAWs of course. :D

Hope there's no hard feelings at F2F about last night. Did you guys tag one of ours at the GAZ? Good fight if so!

THE Night is TOO DAMN DARK Thread. Others will be deleted etc.
BigMorgan (DayZ) replied to Slamz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm sure it's been mentioned, but BI put a visual effects module in the game that adjusts night time to look more natural. The problem - I'm sure - is syncing that with 50p multiplayer and a 24h day/night cycle without making daytime look like equal shit. -
Please stop with anti-sandbox suggestions!

Right now I feel like King Shit. I want to feel afraid like the kiddies in Elektro even when I'm with my merry band of the (deserted) north. ;) -

If anything the game is too easy / not brutal enough. Imagine if instead of 3 noobs for every seasoned Armaverse vet it was 50 players, all in well-organized units running seek-and-destroy raids all over the map. :D -
A new player's review (WARNING: Rampant whining ahead)
BigMorgan (DayZ) replied to Tvayumat's topic in New Player Discussion
I stalked and killed a couple noobs yesterday who wandered a bit too far north for their skill level (constantly revealling position over chat, moving without regard for concealement, stopping without cover) and took them out for the fun of it - not for loot. If you're not going to play the game with skill please don't complain. If you're new take the time to learn from your mistakes and become a skilled player. Whether or not you wish to play as deathmatch using some extremely basic infantry combat tactics will be of extreme benefit to you. Everything in this guide is of benefit in Arma 2 whether you're playing ACE2 COOP or DayZ: http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/ -
As a guide to new players of Arma2, my usual experience with beta patches has been about 90% positive, 10% negative. Occasionally a patch will cause some regression in issues unrelated to an intended fix. Most of the time this is not the case due to BI internally testing builds before public beta release. Best idea is to read user responses to a patch on the BI Forums before installing, major issues usually get found out quickly. If you carefully follow a beta patch install guide, regressing to a previous beta is never an issue! I even save installers for a few days just to make sure the new patch works out.

Don't rush in to a dangerous situation like in your example and you'll live a lot longer. The mod isn't about trust it's about survival. :) -
Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...

How is the mod unbalanced? If you do choose to live non-violently the absolute best tactic would be to avoid all strangers lest you be forced to defend yourself. Chernarus is an ideal terrain for this, especially at night. -
Not sure if srs, but no. Best solution for Arma 2 server hosting is and will remain a quad-core CPU with a high (3.0ghz+ at a minimum) clock.

When Arma 2 first released it caused a lot of butthurt in the CoD crowd. The controls are too difficult to learn, it's not optimized for a Pentium 2 / Voodoo 2 / 256mb RAM system, the vehicles make it impossible, the AI sucks, etc. Those complaints about the base game seem to mirror the complaints about darkness, not enough "teamwork" and so on in this mod. I predict in 2 month's time - max - this mod will mostly be over and you'll be searching for a "good" server to play in. One that, you hope, can routinely see 30+ players rather than spamming connections to 50/50 servers just trying to get in. That's just the cycle of gaming these days, it's not a comment on the dev team's (excellent) work. -

New Arma2:OA Beta Patch 93030 :-)

There have been a few times that a beta patch required a version change. Best to double-check before installing. :) -

The boost from cooperation is simple: you have a better chance of survival. When a new player joins our group on teamspeak and can rendezvous with us in the field they get food, water, medical supplies, and weaponry. I think that there's no need to give us well-organized players, who have been playing Arma 2 for years already and know Chernarus like our own hometowns, any further advantage. This mod, like most FPS games, is a lot easier if you play with the same people again and again on VOIP. Don't need to game it up with "sharing bonuses" and stuff. -

Part of the "problem" may be that there is a core of Arma 2 players that have been longing for public multiplayer for a very long time. We don't like CoD, we only play BF3 because it's "adequate", but what we really want is to have the freedom of an Arma 2 island in which to plan our attacks on other human players... ...so, I'm sorry, but to me this is just an elaborate deathmatch, not a role-playing game. I'd rather play Warfare, but Rocket hath given me noobs to attack and other skilled units to defend against. :D -
I'm more than willing to admin, been hosting A2 servers for a few years now but waiting to get permitted to host a DayZ server. My group: http://thegamewardens.net In the meantime I'll idle on your TS3 in case I spot anything needing your attention. :)

I'm also still waiting for a response. I'm sure you all are busy, but judging from the number of full servers there's room for a few more. -
Nice server(s. Is there one that the admins tend to play on more often? Was on US Hardcore 3 last night and there was a lot of flaming and racism in chat. A little bit of that doesn't bother me but this went on for about an hour between two players.
