A what? Whenever I browse through the translations and meanings for 'clip' it never comes even close to anything related with ammunition or magazines/ammunition belts. It's not a 'clip', it's a magazine or ammunition belt. Damned! A clip is for revolvers, so that you do not have to reload every chamber singlehanded, but can refill each at once.

[Stress Test] Please join servers UK01, UK02, CZ01, and CZ02. - Oct 13

Well, overall you see more people on those private hive servers, especially because of side chat is enabled on most, not all. This might be a thing to reconsider in the standalone version. Make it so that the user can toggle chats he wants to see on and off. Sometimes it's nice to have a short chat, sometimes it's nice to see nothing at all coming from anything. When I played DAoC and Tabula Rasa, I often switched off everything except private messages and guild/group chat, and sometimes even those. For the stress test, maybe tomorrow. Today is XCOM time. -
Most people are flagged as 'bandit' because of they won a firefight that often someone else started. But jokes aside, the age span 25 - 34 in that poll is a bit too large, you need to differ a bit more.

Remove 3rd person or make it worse

The issue, especially with solid walls that are about 2m in height, is that the player directly behind the wall has that very big advantage, the one around 100 meters away does not but is seen by the other one without that one having to risk being exposed somehow. This is simply unfair. -
Some say Mountain Dew is cursed. I think it's true. Last time I picked up a can of Dew I was dead a few minutes later.

Well well, after my very old Char, 56 days, finally got shot in the back I decided to play again a bit today after quite some absence. Started at the coast next to Balota Airfield and decided: hey, that's cool, let's rob it. Made my way to the airstrip and found an Entrenching Tool, Toolbox and an M9-SD. WOW, this can become very handy. Additonal there was a wire fencing kit. Time to find some Tank Trap Kits and close off one of the Barracks *evil grin*. Then I wanted to take a look at the medical tents and soon realized: ok, that's more of a Zombie-Death-Trap than anything else. Geez, I've never been in those tents before, didn't even know there are some. With some bruises and a bit of bleeding I get away. Short orientation and next decision: let's go to Kozlovka first and hope to find a real weapon. Finally the industrial area is in sight and well, good luck and I can snatch an Hunting Knife and some matches (whee) in the container there. Now further on towards Drozhino. A short visit at the barn on half the way and I get a Lee Enfield with a total of 5x10 shots. There had been two Lee's in the barn. After killing a few Zeds just for the fun of it and get back into aiming I continue my travel towards Zelenogorsk. Running low on Drinks and Food already and this may even start to blink until I reach Zelenogorsk, so it's time to move and get into that Super Market there. Another short stop at the barn past Drozhino and I gather some firewood and kill that Black/White Cow that's waiting outside. Short step into the woods, making a fire and cooking the meat, eating some to fill up some of the lost blood from the Zed-Encounter earlier. And up we go towards Zelenogorsk again. Super Market in sight and hopefully noone around, but even if, Lee will take care of and if it's not enough, Enfield will support. Moving around to come in from north I sprint right through the town and catch as many Zeds as possible and dive into the Super Market. It's always good to have company in case someone is there. Well, noone there, so I get rid of the Zeds by sneaky evasion and start looting the place. Plenty of food which get's all eaten and drunk up so that first my blood level gets back to 12k or whatever the value is now, and second nothing is left for anyone coming after me. Just empty tin cans, ammunition and other junk, but nothing to eat. Yeah, I'm evil, so if you ever happen to be into a supermarket with nothing to eat or drink in, it's possible that I've been there before. Another noticeable stuff: found a Czech Backpack, a Binocular and a Map. Fed up and producing strange smells from time to time, with the side effect of being accelerated like crazy sometimes, I leave the Super Market towards north-west and after reaching the forest I go North-East past that little pond into the next building on my way towards Pustoshka. Nothing interesting there, checking the next one on the route and nothing useful there too, except that Hatchet, sometimes it's nice to have one. Pustoshka is in sight and after a short stop at the local Church to get rid of the Zeds following me the Super Market gets looted. Lots of beans are eaten and yes, I need fresh pants soon. An ALICE Pack is now mine together with a Watch, the Lee Enfield got replaced by a Winchester. With the stuff I have now I decide to ignore Vybor and go past it on the eastern side straight through the fields. Moving on and spotting the chimney east of Vybor I decide to move past it by like 100meters. This should set my direction direct towards the Airfield. No players in sight on my route, leaving a smelly trail behind me due to all those beans and pasta and whatever stuff mixed with a crapload of Coke and Pepsi I reach the outer perimeter of the NW-Airfield. Slowly approaching the Barracks, Winnie ready to shot anything that might move I see nothing of real value inside. Damn, not even a weapon! Ok, there's a PDW, but I decide to keep my M9-SD, which has now one more magazine. A bit depressed I leave and move on towards the nothern barracks, maybe something better there. Got dark in the meantime so it should be a quite low risk approach. Getting closer I approach more and more carefully. Moving around to come in from north (I somehow like approaching some areas from the north ...) and I miss my Thermal Optical Weapon I had last time. But if I still had it, I would not be here, logical, isn't it? Finally sneaking into the building I see a corpse at the back of the building, looks like a player. Double cautios I approach. Funny, it's a corpse without any weapons and other gear, except 2 Bandages, Painkillers, 2 M67 grenades and a can of soda, AND, NV-Goggles. Jackpot! Seems like he spawned, went directly to the NW-Airfield and found NV-Goggles and died. Maybe because of a Zed. I snatch the STANAG-Mags that are around and decide to leave, nothing of value here too. Crap. Now for the surprising part. As I step outside I hear more flies. Right at the corner of that wall directly south of the barracks lies another corpse, in a Ghillie Suit. And this is where I hit the real Jackpot. Loot obtained from that corpse: Mk 48 Mod 0 with 5 belts per 100 shots, Rangefinder, GPS, Compass, Coyote Backpack, Radio. He had another NV-Goggles, but who needs two? For some reason the corpse had a Silenced Makarov. I decide not to take it since this is suspicious. Anything else that looks legal is put into the new backpack. Right after I want to check the name of the corpse I get a message: you got kicked from the server. YEAH! Trying to reconnect reveals: it's now password protected, WTF. OK, enough for today. Server I was on had been: DE 4273 Next session I'll check for a nice spot to build myself a MG-Nest. 500 rounds are looking for targets! And maybe I will find a military flashlight somewhere, then my toolbelt is full. Geez, this became a long post. I should start writing a book.

Week 3 Ivan and Martin arrested. Show them you care

Does the Greece government even have enough money left to keep up a military OR even prisons? They're broke like shit and in the name of the security of our currency, the €uro, to save money especially, they should release the two captives ASAP! Or ... Czech Republic stops paying any money to Greece, frickin' gangsters down there. First they take your money, then your employees. -
Things you've never found

Never found: AS50 M240 FN FAL Dew Believe it or not: I've never found a Revolver in any spawn. And ... once I had a M249, but no ammunition for it. Then I had loads of M249 belts, but no M249. -
Day 60: Tips and Tricks (with my survival path)
silenced (DayZ) replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
• Ghillies can be found VERY often in the civilian flats as in Berezino. • Lying down is almost suicide, since you're a 'static' target now, capable of SLOW moving only, and while facing your enemy your head is the only thing that may be hit. Death is standing right next to you. Oh, and btw., regarding Z-kills after a few days: usually, my murder count is higher than my Zombie kill count. While it's easy to avoid and get rid of Zeds, it's not that easy to avoid other players, and shooting first, asking later is VERY helpful. If I kill 1 Zed per day, it's much. Observe and be careful. -
Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
silenced (DayZ) replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I once found 6x barbed wires on the NW Airfield on the same server, and then both barracks were closed down. Was fun to snipe those trying to enter a few hours later. Keep it! -
Hiding bodies a Dick move?

I even hide corpses of Zed's I had to kill, just leave no evidence lying around that you have been there or here or anywhere. -
Airfield not dangerous, pine trees are
silenced (DayZ) replied to kirai's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can find those auto-injectors on airfields too, mostly in barracks. May be tricky to get inside without being able to walk, but maybe 'vaulting' helps, since you can still stand up. -
Joined a server and decided to take a look at the NW Airfield, southern barracks. Aproached from south, scouted the area, moved into the small forest and paused. Watching the Zombie movement. Then I turned left a bit and suddenly 'Open Coyote Backpack' appeared. I was like: WTF?? -> Took a closer look: a corpse lying around, without flies making sounds. Studied the corpse and it revealed: "His name was =FriendlyRussian=, he died from ...", then I remembered: about 30? minutes ago there was a message: "=FriendlyRussian=" was killed. Seems like he got owned by a Zed walking past him while he was AFK, at least I got no other explanation, because of: in his possession: M4 CCO SD with 4 mags, EVERY tool except Toolkit (I already had one) and Binoculars, which are obsolete when you have Rangefinder and NVG, somehow he had no sidearm or I did not see it, but a few PDW mags which are now mine too. All in all, was a good morning after a long long night shift, but now, finally, it's time to go to bed. Good Night everyone!

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
silenced (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Had a helpful 'bug' yesterday though. Got glitched due to artifacts and barely made it to kill all the attacking zombies. Was down to 300 blood and made it 2 hours later to Berezino, crawled into the store and fed up at beans and co to 1500 blood. Finally vision got a bit better and MUCH less dropouts from time to time. Then real life kicked in and I decided to play more later on. After logging into the game I was back to 12,000 blood. -

I'm pretty sure that as soon as duping is fixed every char, tent and vehicle will be wiped out into the data nirvana. And then: everyone will start from scratch. -

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
silenced (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Tested a bit more since I was bored, and decided to snipe campers that camp Stary Sobor Tents, there's a nice spot where you can observe the campers and snipe them. But, the artifacts coming from whatever destroy the line of sight. Whatever was fixed, it isn't. I tried several servers with Beta Build 95883 and DayZ 1.7.2.5, always graphical issues. If I restart the client itself the artifacts are gone in the first two minutes, or until the first LOD update happens on the affected models. Then it all goes down the drain. So: watching from far without zooming in = nice, using a scoped weapon and 'forcing' a LOD update because of: 'You're in range to maybe see something a bit more detailed!' = screwed! -
Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
silenced (DayZ) replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Today I decided to spend some time to check how the new version is running and how the game is proceeding. Started near Elektrozavodsk, someone shot at me while I was in the firestation tower, so I moved away southwards, moved further to Rog Castle, and then everyone was spawned into the same location, dropping down to death. The last few times I died in DayZ was because of hackers and cheaters, so nothing has changed until now. Conclusion: I'm out again for a few weeks or better months. -
So, is hacking impossible to fix or what?
silenced (DayZ) replied to Lowbei's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The Arma2 executive file wasn't made with something like DayZ in mind. There's everything enabled to give you full access. But, in the long run, most of the hackers will be revealed and perma banned. MMOs don't have stuff built in like Arma2, there you simply get no access to stuff since it's not even available from the client side. So, don't compare MMOs with a military simulator. -
[DayZMod] Do you have an API?
silenced (DayZ) replied to Pirata Nervo's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Whenever I read stuff like: 'That's as in EvE or in WoW or Vanguard or whatever' ... you never played UT'99 then, back in THAT time, ngworldstats was something great, and it already delivered in very near real time. If done right you won't even have any security issues, which are, from my view as a former database admin, not really existant. -

Things you should bear in mind: have at least two filled bottles with water and maybe 1 or 2 cans of food or even cooked meat. And while you're on the looting run: drink and eat every food you find. Just do it, even if you're still well in the green. -

As I've read the opening post I instantly remembered the year 2002. April 2002 to be precise. This was when I and a lot of other people in Europe started to play 'Dark Age of Camelot', and PvP-focused MMO which had also a huge PvE part. Noone was forced to PvP, but it was the main goal. The fun part is: you knew literally nothing about the game, did not know where to go, what to do and how to do it effectively. It was like something completely new, a new experience, and it was a great experience. There was not even an ingame map, a quest-system (if there had even been some) that was like shit but it was enough to understand everything if you spent some time and were trying to understand it. But over time players started to master it, becoming better and better, and it became more and more fun the longer you played, no matter how often you had been humilated by the game. It's not like 99% of today games where you get everything in candy wrapping and it's impossible to die, lose or having to use your brain in any other way. It's that beginning of an experience, that being thrown somewhere and knowing nothing that's fascinating about DayZ. It's the first 24 - 48 hours that make it somewhat special. But at least after that time you know everything and it becomes boring, sadly. And then you start having 'other' fun, like making it for mostly new players even harder to achieve anything. Get used to. And btw., you do not need good loot to be successful, just learn to make the best out of the stuff you currently own. It's possible to own several people at once with only a Winchester. Just use the surroundings and pick your targets wisely. Most panic which makes it even easier.
