This is where the bandits come into play. You all might hate us for killing you over and over, but if there's one thing new players hate is getting ganked over and over, we could be your last line of defense against the onslaught of retardation from this horde.

Being a Bandit = Easy Mode.

I really liked someone elses suggestion that there needs to be a timer inbetween dying in DayZ, and being able to post on the forums.
  4. This is the truth of it. Sniping could be made more difficult' date=' or more rare, sure. But ultimately the best way to deal with the issue of serial killers is by making survival a bigger element of the game. The lack of constant survival in the later stage of character life is what fosters the environment of bored players engaging in deathmatch behavior. Its not anti-PVP. You can't take pvp out of the game, it is a huge part of the exhilaration and constant fear/frustration. But getting ganked for no reason by somebody you didn't see 100's of meters away is just boring. ^ And that above behavior has negative consequences for the game. It fosters the KOS mentality that is more and more prevalent. It is frustrating and nerve racking enough when you encounter somebody you don't know without adding the baggage of being constantly ganked. Getting constantly ganked just reinforces a shoot first policy and further dilutes the gameplay. [/quote'] Barring the fact that this is the 1 millionth post along the same lines as 'i got killed by another player I didn't see, plz nerf', I will respond the most cordial and truthful way I can. There is no possible way we can do anything to circumvent the need for KOS or PVP without stifling the playstyle of others. Plain and simple, that is undeniable fact. You can put in all the PVE extras you want, you could make it so we had entire cities that were player run and defended, and there will still be asshats camping the beach with a rifle. You can add all the features in the world, it will still happen. The sooner this community can accept this as a whole, the sooner we can all move on.
  5. It's not always possible, and it's not always fair. But that's what this is all about, it's just like war. There's no such thing as balance in war, there's only the victor with the superior weapons/tactics. So there's a guy with better camo, a better gun, and he's well hidden, he earned his kills. Yes, it sucks, I've been gunned down a million times by those guys, it pisses me off and discourages me all the same. Hell usually I stop playing for the day at that point. But I always come back, and I don't make a thread complaining about it, that's what separates the players from the whiners. As of right now, sniper rifles are pretty rare. The problem is, the people who had them before, generally still have them, and the people who will server hop to get them or camp empty servers for them. Is there an immediate solution? You could place a wait inbetween connections to servers, that would discourage some of it. Maybe eliminate high end loot for servers with less than 25% of capacity? Personally if it were up to me, i'd wipe everyones characters every major patch version (i.e. 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8) as I feel that's the only true way to "test" a new release, especially in the alpha stage. See how many people like losing their tents and trucks filled with farmed/duped loot. It personally wouldn't affect myself, as I do most of my killing with low end weapons. As for the coastal cities, as much as it'd suck, i'd have to say the only way to really force people inland would be to move stuff farther in, either make things extremely scarce in the city (which would kinda fit, after years and years of looting, a city would be the first place picked clean) and make the random sheds and barns in the country actually worth going to (i.e. not full of hatchets and double barreled ammo). Hide ammo inside of the wrecked cars, like just a single magazine on the floorboards. We need more loot spawns in town, and randomized ones at that. Maybe add some extra places for loot to spawn then randomly choose which loot piles will actually spawn, and randomize again when piles are depleted. People have become so used to it all, all we really do is skip 90% of the town and head straight for the loot buildings we all know and love.
  6. Sniping people from 500m away? You and your lot are not bandits, you're cowards. Yeah cause sniping from 10ft away is totally how it should be done. Don't call someone a coward because the other person didn't have the common sense to use cover. Just because someone didn't rush you like an idiot and give you a chance to kill them doesn't make them weak, it makes you an idiot for not taking the proper precautions.
  7. Round and round we go, 40 pages strong of the same arguments with the same answers
  8. I say this with complete certainty, your immersion matters little to everyone else. Having everyone wanting you dead is a feature of the game, not at all detrimental, it makes you value your life more. You want it more interesting by making it just like every other game, with class systems and distinguishable enemies, thus making the whole idea of a wolf in sheeps clothing completely moot. No thanks. This is happening regardless of the PVP, check the threads in the survivor forum. Laziness is the only thing that seperates all the survivors from eachother. Noone forces you to be a bandit, and if everyone was forced to be a bandit, then I would have alot more bandit kills, as it stands, 1:30 players I encounter are bandits.
  9. I like how when people speak of others engaging in PVP' date=' it always turns into this super personal thing, like that guy was out to destroy the other person entire existence, not just ingame but in [i']real-life too. Half the time I don't even see the names of the people I kill, let alone care enough to "prey" on certain people, the odds of running into the same people over and over are astronomical, given the large nature of the map, the amount of players, and amount of servers. I truly believe that most of the complaints people have, stem from the fact that they infact have never played a game like this, where player death makes you lose your time investment. I feel that most of you cannot handle this, so instead of rolling with it, you rage on the forums and tell us how PvP needs to be dumbed down because noone would ever kill another person in a post-apocalyptic scenario, and rattle off a bunch of bullshit in the process. The game is working as intended, the only thing that needs to happen now, is have features added/polished and bugs squashed. If you dislike the game as it stands now, you're gonna dislike it even more when it's done.
  10. This was my point exactly' date=' PVE wants to take, PVP wants to add. We don't think that, we think the complete opposite.

  12. I think you kinda reinforced my point there
  13. Again, the problem is not that you want to PVE, and the problem is not that you want to PVP, it's when you want to PVE, get PVP'ed and end up complaining that the game is somehow flawed and needs to be changed so that PVP is harder/less frequent/etc. There's plenty of legitimate concerns out there, along with plenty of good suggestions, they are just being buried underneath the filth of the people who don't "get it". PVE itself isn't bad, i'd personally love to see some of the elements people suggest added in, I personally can't wait until he adds in the generators and power grids, and my favorite patch was the one that had the zombie spawn glitch where you had sometimes 1k-2k zombies on a server at a time. But pure PVE players tend to want elements in the game stifled or taken away, whereas PVP players tend to want things added, this is where the tension comes from.
  14. You make yourself look bad by spouting random bullshit that makes no sense on closer inspection. Yea no shit a stupid idea would be stupid whether it comes from a bandit or a survivor -- but right now the stupid ideas are coming from survivors. Lol' date=' I make myself look bad by stating that bandits make dumb ideas too, but don't want to go through the effort of looking for a few to post here? I'm pretty sure everybody here has seen something stupid by a bandit, just as they have by a survivor. Trying to paint the survivors as the idiots, and the bandits as the true heirs of the mod, is going to make you look stupid, too. The people who read the forums here and there are going to probably have come across some off-hand dumb suggestion or comment, too. They're not going to see me not be interested in hunting down specifics and say to themselves, "Yeah, fucking survivors can't back themselves up." The stupid ideas are coming from everybody, man. If you can't see that. If you just want to assume survivors suck and be the end of it, that's great. Good on you. That all said; I think there are proper places for suggestions and proper places for discussions. This is not the Suggestion section of the forum. This is a thread on the forums entitled "The one and only anti-PVP/No Bandits/COD Kiddies Thread". Do you think you're going to find the ultimate, greatest suggestion here? Or do you think you're going to find bored guys and gals kicking a can around, maybe having some good and bad ideas to spitball, all while remaining chalk full of sarcasm? Do you see how that works? PS -- It's really hard to take anybody seriously on here about "I'm not trying to stifle debate!", when it all comes back down to comments like "That's why they're not welcome here." and "Compromise is bullshit", lol. [hr'] What makes you think I haven't been here longer than a week? Who is making assumptions now? :) And again, it isn't so much as refusing to back up to my argument (bandits say dumb things needs to be defended?), as much as it is not being interested to piecemeal together a few random statements from random threads in which somebody offers up a dumb banditry suggestion. Go do your own homework. Or open your eyes. When was I lazy in the side-chat discussion, btw? :) When you stated you were in fact too lazy to join a voice chat server. Your registered date shows you've been here a week, that's what. And before you use the age-old "I just read a lot before I actually posted", we've heard that before too. If you have been here as long as we have, you'd be sick of the bullshit too.
  15. No regard for the emotional response' date=' jesus christ. Are we seriously at the point now where we talk about the emotional impact of PVP? Really? [/quote'] Certainly you are aware that the other digital humans running around in your game are being controlled by actual human beings? Human beings that have emotional responses to the goings-on inside the game? And that your in-game actions have an impact on these other people? So as a moral person, you probably feel some responsibility for your actions and their effects on other people. Or at the very least you're aware of that your decisions affect them. I'm not saying that one decision is "better" than another. I'm just saying that the moral decisions you make in this game are actually moral decisions in real life.* This isn't some fantasy world in which you get to roleplay a bad guy while maintaining good guy status in real life. The fact that there are other people involved means that you actually are a bad guy. Now I'm not even trying to suggest that there is some kind of equality of goodness and badness between the in-game actions and their real-world equivalents (though some are equal). Killing someone in the game is clearly not as bad as killing someone in real life. But there is proportionality. But I digress. regarding your original question. Yes, we are at the point where we're talking about the emotional impact of PvP. Every third topic in this forum is about the emotional impact of PvP. Or haven't you been paying attention? If you go over to the Bandit forum, it's closer to being all of the topics. And correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't good games in general and this one in particular suppose to be about eliciting an emotional response? *In this day and age, there is absolutely no distinction among thinking adults between online interactions and "real life". People are people, regardless of whether they are in physical proximity to you. Only the worst type of person would ever bring their feelings into the discussion of a game mechanic on an online forum. Seriously.
