Survivor Gamez 4 - 17th August 2013 - 1.30pm PST/8.30pm GMT
TheBaby replied to DemonGroover's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Gotta love how people who are actually funny, informative and good enough at games to make a living out of it get so much hate. As far as I'm aware, they are in moderated TS channels. If one of them dies, they have to leave the server immediately, no? -
I'm telling Karl, you're gonna be in so much trouble son!

Is using teamspeak 'cheating'?
TheBaby replied to Maloney (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To actually contribute semi-meaningfully though, instead of just insulting people I'd like to point out that AppleJaxc for example, uses 3rd person in his DayZ Youtube uploads. Now in my eyes if you've got a problem with the advantage of voice programs, despite the fact that you're free to use them, you should probably have problem with 3rd person views and changing the FoV. Yeah,I know the game lets you do both of those but meh, no what I would expect from these ultra-realist types. I dunno. If somehow skype/teamspeak couldn't be used in conjunction with DayZ, I doubt it would be as popular as it is. Just yous 'core' dudes running about the handful of servers available. Being 'core'. -

What's up with people wanting to find No PvP servers?
TheBaby replied to recklesspanz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As Rocket as said, the game is also a kind of social experiment. What I've drawn from this is that given capability, opportunity, paranoia and anonymity most players are relative sociopaths in game. That, or the majority of the playerbase finds PvP more rewarding that surviving, which isn't unreasonable. Personally, I think there is still way too much ammo and functional weaponry in the game. I believe this will change in standalone. -
I have an obscure problem with Battleye whilst running Arma2OA or the Dayz mod. I have been able to use Arma2OA for the last 2 months until the 1st of October I believe. If I am loading onto a server whilst my Battleye is being initialized/updated in game, I am able to connect for maybe 1-20 seconds til Battleye is initialized and them I receive an error message for Arma2OA.exe error and my game crashes to desktop. I can confirm from other players that I am not receiving a global ban or anything like that and I get no in game kick message myself. If Battleye initializes whilst I am in the lobby, the game will crash during the last 20% or so of the loading bar, again returning me to my desktop. I have tried every suggestion I have found online, including reinstalling Arma and Battleye and using the lastest versions of the Arma beta and earlier versions, including earlier versions of DayZ. I am able to play Arma2 online, but not Arma2OA with or without mods installed. I have tried deleting battleye completely and re-installing manually and via arma beta patches, I'm nearly at the end of my rope with this. My specs are: Xp Home, service pack 3 Asus Quad Core ATI 4800 Series Direct X 9c 4gb ram The error signature states: AppName: arma2oa.exe AppVer: 1.62.97.771 ModName: arma2oa.exe ModVer: 1.62.97.771 Offset: 002b88e8 Microsoft event viewer says: Faulting application arma2oa.exe, version 1.62.97.771, faulting module arma2oa.exe, version 1.62.97.771, fault address 0x002b88e8.

It was a malicious rootkit for me, some asshole malware/virus. I don't particularly understand but I think it was interfering with how certain programs accessed networking features and thus stopped Battleye from working properly. Nothing I had could detect and remove it apart from Kaspersky's Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller. After using that, it worked again. I'd recommend scanning for viruses ect, if nothing comes up maybe use the Kaspersky thing. I justpicked that program as I thought they're a legit company, no doubt there are others. Ofc be careful what kind of stuff you download. Failing that contact Battleye. They were pretty interested in the issue I had and the rootkit was a suggestion made by one of their staff after many emails and info send back and forth. I guess sometimes they can be very busy, but I've not seen customer support as good for any other game or game related program.

What was your motive to come to DayZ?
TheBaby replied to The Aquatic Land Walrus's topic in New Player Discussion
Whilst I was playing MW3, some guy whom I had previously thought to be a complete retard slapped me 'round the face with a copy of Arma2 shouting "What the fuck are you playing this old busted diaper-wearing baby bullshit for? Fuck Activision yo! Is that a copy of Diablo 3, yeah? How dumb are you, son? Don't you know DayZ is the new hotness?" -
No, you really don't. Surviving the environment and running at the sight of other players isn't challenging at all. Squad vs squad pvp is the most challenging and rewarding part of the game. If you don't pvp I wonder what the fuck you've been doing for the past few months. After you've geared up do you just sit in a bush til you need to get more food? Namalsk is possibly the only map worth playing that way, but on Chernarus.. are you serious? "roughing the wilderness".. 'cuz dat wilderness is so rough, bro. Pvp game with zombie/survival elements.

Laughingman's Private Hive Bliss 1 & 2 Admin Ban
TheBaby replied to Sir your entire family's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Laughingman Private hive? I heard that guy was a super wizard class hacker.. -
Zombies are assholes, man. Happy hunting,

Everyone is thinking the same thing though, so the vehicles are probably taken. Maybe find a server with a consistently low player base to increase your chances? Or scout for an old bike.. I'd take a few bikes for my squad over a car any day if you've got a tent.
-
Ah well, I had the same thing with the motorbike with the flame decals on it, that shit was tight! I was the saddest panda for days. Even though it does seem like some kind of bug or whatnot, it taught me not to get too connected or dependent on any particular vehicle or gear. Get yo' tractor on! :)
-
If it's definitely happening to you when you leave/join the same server then it does sound like there might be a problem. Make a bug report for sure. See if it happens on older/newer versions of DayZ, reintalling DayZ or Arma2 might do something. I dunno :( If it keeps happening,. at least standalone is coming soon. If you can't save your character hit up some populated servers and get your PvP on. May as well tighten up your skills in that area if you can't continue past one gaming session. Plus, if you die, then meh, you'd effectively have died when you log out anywho.
-
I've found things I've lost like this appearing at the last place I disembarked/saved it. Or roughly were it was when I crashed after a server reset. Mostly though, it just seems to disappear. This was during 1.7.2.5-6 though.

There should be a tick box on the DayZCommander search filter, with something like 'hide unofficial servers'. Check that and it'll show you only public servers.
-
You're certain this is happening when you rejoin the same server? A lot of servers are now private, so they're off the public hive and you'll have to make a new character for that server/hive. Your character saves to the hive you're playing on. You could be connecting to different hives each time you play.
-
Nah this guy is too legit to quit. Though really, you'd wonder why the other 5 people he plays with can't spare him some food. Bandit School of Banditry is churning out some hype-ass slackers nowadays.

Looking for M1911 ammo. Wanna trade?

People hop about different low pop servers near the airfield particularly near the south-eastern barracks in my experience, in order to gear up faster. It sucks, but it does happen very frequently. At least they're potentially gimping their own skills by doing so, much faster and more entertaining to gear up hunting other players than to cycle through empty servers that might have not even spawned loot yet. Running a public hive server we get people doing this all the time and sometimes we catch people doing it. Quite a surprise for them. The NWA is never really safe. If you're up there on an empty server press 'P' and keep a track of who's online, how many kills they have.. I think it's likely players with plenty of zombie kills on a practically empty server will want to be there. Kill on sight up there, there are no friendlies 99% of the time.

I think the DMR got a bit of a boost considering the new anti-combat logging features.
