Gonna enable side chat on my server. Can't play anything resembling an MMO without that shit. Is this naughty, will I get spanked? After seeing the extent of some admin abuse that gets reported and just keeps happening, I'm left wondering why I'm not running my server exactly how I like. After looking at the log files and seeing that vehicles, and the chopper, seem to be respawning underwater I'm pretty pissed about the amount of time I've wasted trying to find that shit. Love the game, seems like an awesome dev and forum team too. But I've been naive running my server along the guidelines you set out.

No, we probably won't get blacklisted. I know how private servers work, but thanks for that. The point is the amount of time and effort we've put into running a decent, legitimate server on the public hive. This "take it in the ass and go private" is bullshit. I'm not buying another server, why should I? I honestly didn't expect we'd have to go through this shit being admin. If you'd seen the amount of shit we'd amassed, you'd understand my rage. We could've kitted a small army out. But yup, I agree, I am stupid. Stupid for thinking any of this was possible on the public hive.

Scratch that. Side chat is going on 100%, black list us, couldn't care less anymore. Time to piss around with the mission files. Just got in today, spawn in the debug area with my gillie suit and no gear whatsoever, no backpack, no nothing. New character. Checked our bases. Everything has gone. Check the log files, our main vehicles we use to stash shit appears to have jumped about the map very very quickly with a bunch of other cars. Utter. Fucking. Bullshit. 2 months of hard work fighting hackers, stashing gear, duplicating nothing, getting shouted at in the lobby by players who think we hack, paying to get ass-raped on my own fucking server. I was so SO naive not to ban/kick anyone I please at any moment, just like the rest of the goofs out there. Should've locked the server half the time, shut it down when we're not on. See you in the standalone if this shit isn't cut out on release day. This been one of the most entertaining games I've played, up there with titles that have had serious money behind them. Undoubtedly the best mod for anything I'll likely ever play. We're out.

No side chat then. The thing is, we have an interesting problem. After a few weeks of being continuously hacked we pretty much lost our player base. We now have 2 regulars who aren't in our squad, neither of them survive too long without getting eaten by Zeds. Besides the fact that our vehicles aren't spawning as they did in 1.7.2.5, I think when a player joins our server and knows there are 2-6 players in there with 'clan tags' on they pretty much leave right away. That, or they're server hopping for loot. I've been banned from the other server we play on, which has a continuously higher population, for killing the admin and one of his buddies who teleported behind me with a silenced G3 immediately after. Point blank AS50 round to his chest. It was glorious. You see, those guys are breaking the admin rules to benefit themselves at the expense of people who use their server, and the wider public playerbase. I wanted to break admin rules to foster some kind of community. So whoever sees us in the players list can at least know that we claim to want to help them survive. Going private isn't an option for us unless we can keep our gear. We would just bail til the standalone came out.

Just an update for the name and shame game. BAM -GNRL.JONSEN- was the teleporting retard with a hacked weapon who couldn't kill me.

I have my own server, whether or not I can get on theirs is irrelevant. The point is that I'm interested in keeping DayZ official servers usable. If there are no consequences to admin acting like this then why have the dev/forum team gone into the effort of making the guidelines and approving these posts, just so we can name and shame them? They are gearing up on a popular server, killing players and banning players for retaliating. They can access any server on the main hive with this advantage, including my own.

Go on this server, its pretty funny. They're hosting a NON PVP server on the main hive, they do actually pvp, but they aren't very good at it. Yesterday after sniping one of their goof-members on the NW airfield another one of them ports behind me with a silenced hacked g3 and shoots at me. Ofc I turn around and oneshot him with the AS50, steal his hacked gun, and log out. Coming back into the server today I have been perma banned for killing them, confirmed bandits on a non pvp server, who're hacking. [b.A.M] -Mittlescharf- was the first guy I killed, seriously, what evidence can I provide now to blacklist these people? Actual in-game footage of when it happened? You must be joking.. You cannot let players do this on a PUBLIC hive. I'm certainly happy to move on and forget this, I traded 4 As50 rounds for a hacked gun and their embarrassment so that's good enough for me, but they are a large clan, with a very popular server. in terms of proof, I just don't know what I can provide. My system can't really handle in-game recording and keep an excellent framerate, so I don't record. The best I can do is a video of me loading into their server form DayZCommander to prove that I have an actual admin ban. Would that suffice?

Yeah, good story. If any of you want to play on a pretty empty public server (about 7-8 players peak lol) with friendly squad admin, PM me or reply and I'll PM you.

Assumption. I think the analogy is bad as a whole really, just confusing and it isn't telling me anything that isn't intuitive. Maybe you're just 'selling' to people who aren't 'buyers' I'm sure everyone is aware that the core differences between the actual world and virtual worlds maybe some of the problems here unsolvable. Fundamentally, you can have economic theories if you like, but people don't act like they do in Dayz in the real world. More information is just crazy, you can't get information about people from looking at them.. or even talking to them half the time. You don't get the information in 1 on 1's about a persons history, unless you're psychic or some shit. This is why, like in the criticisms on The Market for Lemons I think its obvious that you need 3rd parties to verify someone's claims.. you shouldn't be able to do this yourself it fundamentally breaks the game. You just gotta do something along the lines of what the Trusted Medics of the Wasteland and the Coalition in general are doing.

Eh, this isn't true is it? Don't you think some of the features they plan on implementing in the future/standalone might be enough? Deeper medical shit, harder to rep vehicles, underground bases ect. I thought the bases would be something that would defiantly require cocperation and a lot of time. Hopefully these kind of things will plainly give people more to do than kill people. I think its best that we see this does before they change the core of the zombie threat. And I don't think 'Humanity' actually means how physically human you are. If you lost your humanity and turned into a Z.. then.. I reckon the effort they're putting into story development might just be underwritten people randomly turning..

I laughed after being counter-sniped with 30+ murders, I had it coming. Counter-sniping is now the way, much more rewarding. The general 'policing' thing too.

Honestly, all the people bashing on the snipers; when you get a consistent stream of idiots (count 9-10 in an hour) going into a fire station, seeing several dead bodies, then deciding to loot them all.. you just have to teach these people a lesson.. I SRSLY WONDER HOW ALL THESE PPLS GOT HERE, HERP DERP. Like being respectable and fair actually means shit to the vast majority of people in this game. You only friendly 'til you see an opportunity. My chances of survival go up anytime someone who isn't in my teamspeak dies. Some men just wanna watch ur beanz burn brah. And to be fair, sniping under geared people in the cities is a great way to learn how to snipe, I think people are just too butthurt to even regard this. After personally killing 30 odd players over a few days in the hills of Elektro I can now zero my sniper to pretty much any target in a matter of seconds using millidots, without a range finder or nameplates. Learnt a shit load about detecting players too. Sure, ultimately it was a bit harsh, but I learned a fair amount in the process. Everyone needs to be a psychotic bandit once.

Apart from checking known spawn locations its pretty much just about keeping your eyes peeled and being lucky. People will hide them in very obscure locations, even off the map. I've been running a reasonably populated server for about 12 weeks and since 1.7.2.6 dropped all our bases still belong to us. I guess people often balance convenience with safety when stashing stuff. I go for safety, 'cuz I'm a pussy.

Yeah, it is, pretty much. Plenty of players playing that way and not much 'endgame'. If you dedicate yourself to being friendly from the start you're going to be at a massive disadvantage when you meet people who just want to ruin your day. Pvp makes you a lot better at pvp, and that part of the game is inevitable. It's ok to be a dick.

Was in the area thought I'd check it whilst you guys in the US are asleeping. Got GPS, can't see any tents at those locations. Edit: Searched again. Nothing. Tents haven't spawned on server restart or you're having a laugh.

It's a DMR with a red dot sight. Accurate as hell. Loud, comparable with the AKM but quieter than the Enfield I think. Personally it's my favourite gun for targets between about 100-400m, before that I'd prefer an automatic and after 400m I find hitting moving players a bit of a mission, I'm not an awesome player though. Ammo is easy to get hold of and there's a glitch with it so atm you get pretty much infinite. Guess that's a bit lame. Rangefinders give distance in metres.
