    Should it be released for Mac?

    I am down for the idea, but the main reason why Mac isn't so popular with games is because they aren't as easy to develop as Windows, all because Apple likes to keep things on the lockdown (no wonder why they only have 20% in the smartphone market!).

  3. As people have been saying, if it's a Private Hive they're free to ban you on whatever extent they want, whether it'd be unreasonable or not. My suggestion is to join a Private Hive that does not ban you for barely-clarified reasons. Balota Buddies seems nice.

    I thought ArmA only uses 1 GPU on the card without third party support? I know that 680 SLI'd automatically work. Do you use some kind of mod to make them both work or is that JUST the other 680 (675 with the underclock) making the 149FPS?

    Fell face down on the steering wheel

    I can imagine the scenario. Close to a townstead at night, you notice a vehicle passing by a road parallel to you. With a hard stance, you open fire on the driver's seat. The driver of the vehicle is impacted with dozens of bullets, falling face first on the steering wheel. Little did you know, his face impacting on the steering wheel causes the horn to become a loud noise to the surrounding undead. A half a minute later, the entire area is surrounded by zeds, and you die to the flesh-eating vermin as well all because you were scared of a guy with a car. Gotta thank CorridorDigital for the idea.

    Looking sicker than ever. I have more faith than I ever had in the DayZ Staff Team. Kind of worried about optimization. Lots of new features, and I dunno if the system requirements are going to increase since a lot of things appear to be getting ported from ArmA 3 and ToH.

    What if we removed the crosshair?

    As long as iron sights are being removed, I'm down for it. Although as some had explained, ArmA's system is very complex and realistic where the point of bullets come out of the gun, and if you are walking without wanting to look down the scope, you will definitely notice it is much harder to aim without a reference point. Debates, debates...
  13. DayZ plays fine on a controller. They are not going to have do much 'dumbing down' as you say apart from removing unneeded commands from the vanilla ArmA II. None of this is going to be delayed for a console port, as it's more likely that one million sales is going to be a while after the standalone goes on sale. Even if the game does sell one million sales upon release, it is only more likely, not guranteed immediate focus on publishing a console port. EA does a shit job regardless whether or not they have one person or one thousand. I am fairly confident Rocket's team and Bohemia Interactive will always focus on the PC version. Just look at Minecraft, they released an XBOX version and the development for PC was not slow at all. If you count the people they asked to port it for them, I doubt that goes over one hundred people. I only see benefits of a console release. More sales, a larger budget to develop games, a larger audience. The only problem I see is current tech's 7800GT processing power and a 3-core shit CPU. When I first became aware of the easyness of building a PC, I was upset that ArmA II was unfortunately not available for the consoles, let alone the modification. I personally think we should have a console port on the later generation consoles, such as the newer XBOX and Orbis, maybe even Steam Box if the graphics power allows for it.

    Be sure to use an aftermarket cooler unless you plan on frying your CPU. Take a tutorial as well just to ensure you do not do something wrong.

  19. Hey ersan, what are you planning on doing for the standalone? I believe they talked about letting groups run servers, but not from their own (by own I mean yours) databases or something? Don't quote me on that, though.

    I may be being a money whore, but since I'm American, that doesn't sound cheap to me in the price translations I've seen. Is there going to be an American pricepoint as well? I honestly thought it wouldn't go any higher than $20.00, that is my golden level of cheap. If not, I don't mind forking out the extra five dollars, I'll just look like this when I do:
  23. I think we should start giving some negatives on what we've been shown so far, that way, they can capitalize on their mistakes now and not see it in the standalone. Here's some of my thoughts: - The bean cans look a bit too big for being your average cans. I'm more than assured that this is probably just an early test of seeing how it would appear on tables, although sizes of things may be good to be looked at now than later. - If these are on Normal settings, this is damn good. Nice job. - I don't think the team has a lot of things to play with, but will we see an update from DX9 to DX10 or 11? I know that ArmA 3 is having DX 10 and 11, maybe there is a possibility of those being included. That may also stop a possible console port. I dunno, maybe they will see how things play through. - With optimization, what do you mean by improvements? Will you see something like a budget system being able to handle this system extremely better, or minimal performance increase? I know there was a lot of console players that came over to the PC market in order to play, but were on a budget to begin with. If there are engine improvements with optimization and whatnot, what can we really expect? This is looking sweet.
