Picture In Picture for vehicles (aka rearview mirrors)
tntantoine posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Since it's already implemented in ToH's engine branch DayZ SA will use, please use it as soon as possible ! :) I understand the PiP uses lots of ressources (because the gpu is rendering the scene from another angle for each mirror), but in first person the lack of rearview mirrors can be quite annoying when parking a car or being chased by a wild SUV gang... Also, immersion ++ ! -
I second the copilot idea ! Played ToH online yesterday on the only server still up ans we (the 7 players connected) loved Too fly by pairs (more about freestyle than replacing a dead pilot, but close enough !).

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

Too much threads about vehicule suggestions, i'll post that here. :) Recently, our admins had an experiment with the Taviana server i'm playing on : we had almost twice vehicles as usual after a restart, and we waited until the next restart to drive around the map. The results were quite satisfying, and added a lot more apocalyptical feeling than expected : in the beginning, everyone were driving something, derping around in big cities, trying to kill running players, etc... that was a total mess. But it turned out that a lot of players crashed their cars in trees or buildings because of their excitement. And when you drive around with your clan and see that kind of scene, that's much more interesting than already spawned wrecks, because you actually know that someone was around at some time, and may still be stalking for curious/careless players. (effect++ when the engine is still running) The point of this post is that I entirely support the idea of much more vehicles, but with less more fuel ressources (and limited fuel at gas stations), because it adds a lot more of this apocalypical, recent end of the world feel. -
Indeed, close to perfection ! Now we just need a little more high res textures than the default arma 2 ones and it'll be perfect ! :)

Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
tntantoine replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Yeah, Survivor GameZ is a Hunger Games like game streamed online. And it's pretty interesting to watch it ! EDIT : http://survivorgamez.com/ -
Selected ambient work : volume 2 by AFX : welcome to hell ! :D (played DayZ on low populated, night servers, and damn it's scary when you can't see at all and you have this kind of music with the zombies around...)

Take On Helicopters (DayZ SA) flying adjustments!

If you fail to do the startup sequence the right way, you'll see your instruments go all red and your chopper will emitt an agonizing sound... Better train yourself to remember the whole process ! -
Take On Helicopters (DayZ SA) flying adjustments!

Okay, just tried flying around Chernarus with the little bird in TakeOn... Holy mongus this is at the same time much more harder, but sooo much more rewarding and stimulating ! And BTW, when you know the startup sequences for the choppers you might play in DayZ, starting it takes no more than 1mn. Sounds long in case of emergency, but if you can't permit to wait for the pilot to fire the engine, just don't turn it off after the landing and defend it with your weps ! Can't wait to see it implemented ! Now back to that beauty :) -

Take On Helicopters (DayZ SA) flying adjustments!

I suggested this idea a few weeks ago on reddit, and totally want that kind of mechanics implemented in DayZ. Actually you can already try by yourself if you have TakeOn and Arma2 or/and OA, since BI fused the two games in a TakeOn update called "Rearmed". Here's an example Now let's make DayZ the hard game we always wanted ! -
I'm all for randomly generated worlds, or at least huge maps (goddamn everytime i think about Fuel, that one had one of the biggest I played on !). But yeah, the system might need some limitations to not turn into a huge mess...

Yeah that would add a lot to vehicular fights with the ability to fire when you're inside cars. -

Hello everyone ! A few days ago I've been thinking about how vehicles in DayZ SA could be more realistic to interact with. How can we implement in the game the feeling of not being safe in vehicles ? (and the opposite of the actual gameplay, 'cause for now the only fear when you enter a vehicle is to be attacked by another player... or to hit a pesky little rock) These are the two ideas I came up with : 1) Zombies attacking players even if they're in vehicles (probably already submitted but hell, i had to say it to introduce the second idea). 2) TakeOn Helicopters-Like visual buttons for actions on every motorized vehicle. Let me explain this with the following situation : You're chased by zombies, a lot of them, and are running through a city. You see a car in the middle of the road : it looks in perfect shape, so you run towards it to escape the zombies. Once you're in, the undeads are trying to flip the car/break the glass to grab you. Your hands are shaking as you're trying to start the car by pressing the starter (like you would in TakeOn). After a few tries, the car roars and you leave the city. This kind of situation have to be much more difficult to handle than the current one, and adds a lot more immersion and realism to the interactions with vehicles. And since it's already implemented into TakeOn's VR2.5, our beloved devs just have to adapt it to land vehicles and boats. Also, aircrafts would now require much more skills, and you'll think twice about it before trying to make one fly ! I hope I've been clear enough about this one... What do you think about it ? -

Bandits ? I'm sure they have a good part hiding somewhere in their heart... (Well, maybe not, they're bandits after all !) -
