I wouldn´t recommend it. Im playing on a Asus-Laptop with 8 gig ram, i7 processor and geforce 540m graphics card. I roughly get 20 fps with resolution set to 1024x768.

Hey my dear Community, so I started playing the Day Z Mod after 5 Hours of Let Play´s on Youtube, so i was aware that there might be some problems with the game.As the Title says I´m suffering from terribe FPS. My average FPS would be about 18-22, with 27 fps outside on the street (while 17 fps in the woods) and around 14-18 in Citys. And these are the results of carefully attempts to optimize my system and the Game. I turned the screen (and graphic) solution down to 1024 x 768, turned off AA and AF and so forth. The Game looks so terrible now (with all the flickering and unsharpness) but would be complete unplayable otherwise. I did the RAMdisk thing, added those fancy start parameters in Dayzcommander, used the game booser and modded the arma ini files. Is there anything left I can do, to get a fair compromiss between fps and looks? Here´s my system (laptop): Intel Core i7 2670qm 2.20 gHz 8GB Ram nVidia GT540M

Hey Guys, just wanted to respond cause I kinda found a solution: resolution. All I had to do was to turn the resolution down to 640x480 and windowed mode and turn AA and shadows off. Now I have playable 30 fps in the wild and 25 fps in the cities.

To be honest, I give a rat´s ass about those 25 bucks, fuck em, it was worth the try. And I wouldn´t bother paying another 25 for the standalone if it works fine. Don´t worry, I understand what a mod is and what problems comes with whis format. But maybe you could read my post again and point out where I was whining about the money I lost, or even put unrealistic expectations on the dev team? All that worries me (on a very personal level) is that the standalone might at max just perform as good as arma 2 OE does on my PC. That would be an K.O for the game in my case. That´s why i asked if there´s more performance optimization, because I didn´t read anything about this topic anywhere.

I give a damn about new physiks features and so. All i want are stable 25+ fps, which should be doable with my system (i7 2.2 x4, 8Gb, nVidia Gt540m) instead of suffering from 14 fps. :( So, will you be able to ptimize this "2.5" engine in a way that is like no major fail?

Yeah, I guess I´ll put everything back to high, if it´s lagging anyway it might aswell look good. There´s another thing I noticed. I get like +15 fps more if I look into the sky. Don´t know if this information is useful :)

@ Alternative_Alien I bought "Arma II Combined Operations" on Steam, which installed Arma II and Operation Arrowhead. These two are in my steam game library.

Yeah I figured that. My CPU has this boost thing where it goes up to 3.0 ghz, maybe I can trigger this permanent.

Thanks Razorman, so far I always was playing on Servers with a ping of around 38, so i´ll keep an open eye on that < 30 server. But yea, I already am using a cable connection, since the Internet here isn´t so great (dl 1 Mb/s, ul 210kbyte/s) And yes I know that Laptops are not meant to be gaming beasts. But after all I never had a Problem like this before. BF 3 is playable and so is Skyrim (with high settings).
