Yea its hit or miss on the mags. I personally find about 1 M9 SD mag in about an hour of play. The only way I end up finding more SD ammo then I use while raiding is to have friends save them for me as well. Most of them have moved on so ammo been on vacation I guess.

My DayZ commander won't work because it tells me I don't have combined operations, I don't, i have operation arrow head. DayZ Commander refuses to work without CO for me. *shrug* so I just manually install.

yea server hopping causes a coastal spawn. Its an anti- ghosting feature that can be helpful to get away from the hackers that are just annoying.

Aye. The idea of running around in a heavy metal shirt, huge beard and mohawk, brightly colored. Just helping fresh spawns out would make my day. More so if I could make the model like tall and stuff. I know I'ma kook but hell to be a hero in this game you gotta be off your rocker. Even the squad mates I had, they were like WTF man. I was willing to loot gear and give it to fresh spawns but not with out an AS 50 and DMR sniper at my back. As far as side chat is concerned I just wish radio's let you have a "radio" chat. Even if it was a simple like 10 channels. Radio's are hard to find. Wouldn't be side chat but give ya something to look forward to, or a mechanic for setting ambushes.

I think once you can customize your character so not everyone looks the same. It will help. If you see a guy in urban camo's (Obviously doubt anyone wants to wear white in the game so good example for this) and he helps you, you'll recongize -that- way easier then the simple survivor model we have now. I could really care less about name plates if my character could be personalized. Plus being able to like remove your ghillie hoods, I would so have a rainbow mohawk. Save someone, remove my hood, introduce myself etc etc. The amount of people that could remember that on sight would increase team play. I think this was the original intent of the "skins" but yea. I think its just something they are gonna have to tweek more.

Well hell son. I'm trying to get a medic for a squad too. I've spent so much time being the filler role. I play a couple hours a night eastern time. Then on the weekends if I get a promise of having a reason to sign in. I can scavange like a fiend. Not a bad shot, you ever want some covering support hit me up in skype.

Speaking of backing for the standalone! I'd be willing to do anything to help, donate a voice for a character model or anything. I'd love to see this thing done right and perfect. I think WarZ is gonna get rushed out I don't want DayZ to come out unfinished.

Be interesting if they could link all the maps together, just roaming too north or too far east boom another map.

The only new error I get that is odd is when I try to eat it flips out giving me a "holy chit!" then I tell it ok, /continue on.

Ok,OP, to find friendlies you have to ask. I'm a hero too. Not easy, by far not the funniest thing I've done in a while but because I wanna be. I have helped people in NWAF in return for me gunning down 10-12 zombies I'm greeted and thanked with bullets. Understandably so. Most people shoot first, forget they can even ask questions. SillySil brought up a conversation like this in one of his other posts. As of now its just tailored for banditry, making the solo non-bandit players paranoid as shit. Turning them into OMFG SHOOT IT kinda folk. If you want a friendly time on DayZ I suggest bringing your own or keep your fingers crossed and just enjoy the bullet sammich. In all my times helping folks...I have found 2 friendly folks that I didn't bring with me. Everyone else Alt f4's if I sneak up on them asking if they are friendly, one guy actually put his gun down when I had a Mod 0 aimed at him, he was being chased so I cleared them out, he ran off. Outside that there has been an exchange of fire.

They removed the debug monitor, there are some bugs with the new one though. Look at the patch notes should explain it.

Lotta players that hang around come to realize fuller servers attract the skiddies. I for one won't join a server with more then 25-30 on it. Its too tempting for hackers still. Eventually they'll get bored and move on. Though most of us are just playing other games and waiting for the stand alone.

This thread sent me through more emotions in a 15 minute time span then a funeral for a relative you really didn't know. Laughing happy shudder OMFG WHY EYES BLEEDING awwww well hell... On a positive note, I'm 28, love gaming, walks through the snow. I like to cook as well. Favorite past times have been RPGs, pen and paper as well as any game with a zombie in it. In response to this, its not just the gear the Bandit gains from killing someone he sees. You loot their food, water (soda), ammo if they share a gun style. What you didn't address in that post was this, you also gain the benefit that the guy who due to average thought+mentality, SillySil now doesn't have to worry about the guy shooting him. So by killing anyone he sees his survival rate goes up. Considering surviving is the name of the game. Obviously less threats = more surviving. Yes the guy could have friends, yes they could be close, SillySil already mentioned you can be a KoS'er and not be stupid. I'd imagine he most likely stalks a target, looking around the surrounding area to make sure its clear. Soon as the target is "safely out of town" pop, free loots. As a Bandit its extremely easy to control your situations, if he has two friends, you can set up an ambush for them. If he has a couple friends with AS 50's you can make the call to bail leaving the group to its previous plans. I know this stuff because I do it as a hero, minus the head capping the poor saps, however thats just -my- choice. I've had so many people dead to rights. Plus my over all goal in the game is to get a full squad all in military gear then go -run- fresh spawns through towns. I think it would be cool as hell to have like 4 soldiers escorting civilians around the town, laying down cover fire etc etc. Though these dreams will have to wait until stand alone.

As SillySil said, he doesn't have to look for gun fights, just look for the guy who crawled through all the tents and shoot him. I understand you live longer avoiding people. Or in my case out right scarying them into Alt F4. (People don't like to get poked with an Ak 47 or L85 then asked if they are friendly) Again the posts he made and is arguing is -purely- due to mechanics.

I posted in SillySil's original post, Gambles you stated you didnt' read that whole thread, please look at my post there. I will try to add to it here. I find SillySil's post easy to follow and his mind set, simply put he is a min-maxer. I follow this logic because I do it myself. I will try to give examples. To win at DayZ you survive, ok surviving you need (To ideally survive by pure game mechanics). 1:Food 2: Drink. 3: Way to defend yourself. This is all really it. Ways to achieve said goals. 1: Crawl on your stomach through towns to get said stuff. 2: Shoot guys crawling on ground to get said stuff With that two basic ways to play laid out, risks involved? The guy crawling around for stuff has to deal with 25% of the population who kills -anyone- on sight for pleasure or fun 50% of the population that is KoS outta paranoia. 10% chance to run into a hero that -isn't- going to kill you. Every other player avoids you <insert random anti social reason> then a small % chance you die to the game itself. Looking at it from a numerical stand point the guy doing all the work himself, outside a sense of personal accomplishment he's not got a great chance at coming out on top. From SillySil's perception, option 2. The guy who shoots the crawling guy. What he has to deal with? Ummm random chance he can get spotted by someone like himself, skill and ghillie come into play (I assume he has both since he is a bandit hoping for more reasons to be a hero) and ... almost none of the other things matter, he isn't putting himself at risk. Doesn't have to? On a side not of morality, its getting mixed up, he was saying he wished there was something -like- it in the game to encourage players to be bandits or heroes. Currently the bonus' to being a bandit even if they are not like a perk that the hero skin has, are just better. I for one agree and I am a hero but for the movement or BPV (As I didn't know about them til this SillySil's thread) I just want to be, I still put on my ghillie though because hero skin be damned, over 50% of the game population shoots at me just because I moved. That isn't a good % for surviving. 50% being a modest educated guess. I have snuck up on several people and asked if they are friendly, common response when a bush wookie asks if you're friendly? 100% Alt f4 out of fear. (So far) His comments also come from personal experiences. You say (Gambles) that you get all kinds of perks and stuff from being a good hero. He said when he was a good person he was shot too much. So neither side has much ground to stand on, the debate comes down to general populace feed back. I, as I stated, agree with SillySil, being a bandit is just higher profit, shorter time, characters live longer (Which by definitions given is the point of DayZ) Another thing of note you both agree that shooting people who are unarmed makes you a dick, thats good. I can see people doing it a few times to get some game bordem outta the way. Again stating what I stated in the other forum Heroes will be heroes because they want, Bandits will be Bandits because they want to. Those on the fence (Min maxers) Will do what gets them weapons, food, and water the fastest aka banditry. (This one statement, all that there, is why SillySil suggest the game is set up bad for being a Sandbox) The -simulator's- mechanic's are tailored to make Banditry faster, easier.

After I'd gotten my role down, my buddy found it best if I killed zombies with an SD weapon and he watched for players. This combo came about when apparently my ability to be observant wasn't a constant thing. So I was taking point into the ACT BaAF, he goes rummaging through the tower I took up shop on the stairs, using the q button, iron sites trained on the door. FYI I closed the doors soon as we entered. Anyway, doors bust open! pft pft pft three shots to the center mass with the M4 SD guy comes across the Voice "Friendly friendly' I go ahead tell him to get behind me, peg all the zombies. Told him to get behind me. He patches himself up we give him some meds. He tells us. "Sorry I was being chased by Bandits" so I take aim at the door again, door bursts open, female survivor model, AKM, on to the chest one to the dome piece, bandit kill for me, guy outside strafes side ways I got one shot off in his leg, few moments later someone died (Corpse outside). My buddy escorts the first guy through the ATC while this is going on, third guy comes running in, 3 to his chest. Clip empty I start calling. "Player, player down stairs wounded, reloading." My buddy, whom I expected to see meeting me at the junction on the second landing of an ATC isn't there. I run to the roof. While at the bottom of the stairs I hear that terrifying AS 50 shoot echo from inside. So I point up the stairs when I see him peek around. "He's not down stairs wounded no more..." after all this happened it finally caught up to me and -then- my heart started to race and I was shaking. Friend just laughed at me. 4 encounters roughtly 60 second time frame, 3 kills were made, the only one I got was the bandit kill.

the question is when do you play? I can be on through the week at like 3 AM Eastern time zone. I can play til about 6 AM. Weekends is hit or miss Saturdays if I'm not working is best. I can get an hour or two in at like noon to 2 as well some days.

I really, really hope the next bush wookie that shoots you, voice chats a wookie battle garble-throaty chewie yell before capping you...not to be mean but I would find it too funny. The mental just made me laugh...

I have read a lot of this thread. Things I've noticed. 1: Average person doesn't read the whole line about what they want to complain about. 2: Average people have no clue how to help. You do no good bitching about something with no screen shot or with out explaining where and what you were doing. 3: Average person was never the one guy in a highschool group to do the majority of the work on a group project. (Referring to people saying Rocket is a douche, hell if I was doing this and got some of the bad mouth feed back that goes on I'd be banning forum accounts and in game accounts) The fact he talks to the community as a head dev, I personally, find amazing. He has reps. yes but he himself responds thats more then you'll get from most game companies. 4: Last I checked he was working on the Mod free of charge? Something he was doing as a hobby, its like having your mother -tell- you how to play games (provided she doesn't). I know some folks here are testers for other things, dev's for this and that but jeez. Guess some people gonna help some are not but if you want to help then look into how to help. I'm not very great at it, generally the bugs I find are already reported so there is nothing I can really do besides like posts I can confirm. As far as the posts stating things about dealing with it and tears are delicious, hell it makes me feel like I'm dealing with an actual gamer and playing a game built by a gamer, someone who wants the game to be something and not tailor it to the "popular" crowd. Or any other rep of the team. As stated I find the smart ass comments refreshing then the "macro'd" response you generally get. Gives a ... real feel to the replies. As an end to the post, I won't flame anyone, but a lot of posters need to just...make more meaning of their post right now its just waste of forum space. If you want to rage complain, do so but make it useful some how, involve the server name, its beta patch etc etc. You want to report something try to back it up with a narrative or screen shot. I've tested a few games just for the thrill of playing a game before its out. Something most testers don't know is how to be a tester. A forum post about it might help a lot, perhaps a sticky thread with some simple instructions on how to help out. Perhaps I'm blind and didn't see it. Proof as someone else should take this idea and run with it but as for me. Over all Dev's good job, players, testers, we need the good and bad feed back so thanks to everyone involved.

Depends on what I'm doing. Personally my favorite load out I had at one time. M249 SAW with 2k rounds for it (entire back pack full of belts) after hitting two heli's, NWAF and stary apparently was my lucky day. Side arm was an M9SD had 9 mags for it. It was my favorite load out because at the time the SAW didn't aggro anything past 180 meters and I could kill well outside that range. Coupled with having a sniper friend. I had bullets for dayz (Horrible pun I know) then it ended with an invisible teleporting hacker when I was in the north east quadrant of the map. After that I ended up with an MK 48 mod 0. Less damage but way better aiming mechanic. Still packing an M9 SD Makes for one hellva support character. Camo'd to help hide me with my ghillie its my love in the game! I've seen people just run away after I've started pulling the trigger in stary. Not even shooting at them just start killing zombies over by the tents, well ok sling a few their way. Again ended with an invisible hacker M4SSD from behind. Side note when I got shot I spun around and started shooting like in the move predator, apparently this took the hacker by surprise as he gave us our stuff back after we died. AKM I think is under rated it is my personal favorite go to gun. Before I had SAW like guns I used that to cover my sniper buddy. With up to 13 mags and spares being left behind zombie hordes made me giggle. Highlight with the AKM...right after the change to zombie aggro not ceasing if you aggroed in a building they didn't stop. We got 176 zombie kills in a one room house, taking turns re loading getting flooded with aggro. Finally with like two zombies left he was running outta ammo, side arm M9 SD pap pap, no more zombies. After getting three people into the game and doing the raiding thing a lot, trying to give tips here and there. I have found it more beneficial to just shoot until you're dry picking up all of one type of mag that match (generally AKM AK or STANAG) what ever I end up with the most before I go dry I switch to a gun with that ammo type. (I've recently left an L85 thermal in stary, should been a nice surprise for someone) I've gone through so many different guns. I find the Kobra the best Ak-47 variant. It doesn't need zeroed so much as you use the dot at 300 hat thingie at 400 real nice touch. Out of everything that might be considered under rated...have to be the revolver. The iron sites on it for some reason just equal win.

Yes exactly this. Been Rp'ing in other games since I was 9 so to see a thread like this pop up makes me happy.
