Don't get me wrong -some- people would! This however is a morality issue. People will almost always act differently in a game over what they'd really do. A lot of folks (All players not singling any of them out) would act differently if this was actually possible. For most the game has and adds no extra moral obligation so its just wraps in on itself and people continue to pull the trigger. Like to defend bandits a little bit. They KoS for food even if their gear is good. If they walk up on a survivor and he sees a guy in a ghillie with an AS 50 asking for food or water. Most of the people right now would just line up a head shot and murder him (Oh yeaaa got a bandit kill) I dislike -that-. Survivor, bandit, hero doesn't matter we all get shot on sight. I know people have found friendlies I've seen it on youtube. I personally haven't. Not on public hive. I even though by sneaking up on a player and calmly asking if they were friendly would get a better result, all they do is ALT F4 Might be bad luck but...4 times now its happened. Anyone else shoots at me or avoids me. -

Oh definately grouping does have a benefit. Why doesn't anyone wanna do it? Thats been my argument for a while. Very similar argument from SillySil. Just no reason to group when the benefits of not is just greater. Plus (Now I realize not many people read the forums compared to playing but ..) The stories about people grouping up, playing for a couple days then someone turning on someone else. It also has the adds to the "KoS" mentality of the community. -

Yes, exactly! I would never dream of taking the Banditry outta the game! I love the intense feeling of -not- knowing if a guy is friendly or not. I would adore the fact if someone would actually let me help them! I don't really want to put group based things in the game (though it would help) but just anything or any reason to group together would be awesome. As it was mentioned. When it goes stand alone you might not get to pick the server, it may auto join you to servers so no one can do the whole low pop thing (I support this greatly) the issue though. The only thing coming out of this will be a huge death match game. If I remember the numbers right he wants something like 200 people a server. You already can't walk around on a 10 person server with out someone shooting you. If you add another 190 people. You're gonna spawn, die, rinse repeat. -

I wouldn't want any parkour to be put into the game purely under the fact that the game would be based on who can spam a dodge button faster, it would making sniping extremely hard to do. (Now I would support the ability to lean to the left or right for a moment as you're running to give a sort of dodgy bit to your head.) The reason behind that. I play a few games like that and it turns into who is faster who has the bigger gun and who can shake a mouse. I really really enjoy the intensity of the combat system in DayZ at the moment. I enjoy that its hard to get away from someone. If you try. (I don't enjoy that even in a hero skin everyone shoots at me) I do agree that some smoother movements should be placed into the game but as far as Parkour is concerned I understand that stuff is possible but if everyone in the game had it. It wouldn't be very "great" or amusing. -

Camo = vest as wel ok calm your shit. Mr its unfair they get more. Camo skin has same vest. Second the lets me sprint faster isn't a passive move buff. (For those of you that don't know if you double tap w you "sprint") Heroes sprint for like 2 seconds longer. What you are missing is bandits gain the "perk" of less risk of death (If you shoot everyone you are safer) and they get gear quicker because simply by just murdering everyone (gear not just weapons but like food and water) I support Banditry and heroes. The game itself needs to have something to support heroes a bit more as banditry is just plain easier. -
Servers Aren't Normal For Me Anymore

Coming from someone who doesn't use either of those things anymore. My biggest hang up when I did things manually was forgetting to delete the old beta folder, then putting it in the right spot. Now before I go all /macro on ya from tech support. I would check all that make sure it -is- the latest beta folder and it is where it needs. Outside that I have noticed that the server loading screen (From Multiplayer ArmA) has been screwie lately as well. If I put my cursor over a few servers they disappear, random crap like that. I suggest searching not by -beta patch- but by the arma update (96854) or what ever the new current arma is. Then read to their descriptions to see if they are running current beta patch. -

I'm a hero that is a hero from doing this. Thats part of the problem. You -gain- something from killing a player (It is now a non threat and might have a useful item to you on him.) If you avoid them: Really the only thing you gain here is an increase risk of him spotting you some how and due to the mentality, killing or shooting at you Trying to help them: Grants a high chance to die, they will ALT F4, or generally just run away. I completely understand its with in peoples rights to make these choices but the unbalancing issues comes from no one will group with you and even if they do...the chance they turn on you his very high. Because there is no incentive to group. Game is just easier solo. Giving the game a small reward would help til the scales so you'd see more groups, you'd see -more- of the game being played and not some death match knock off. -

Aye I would like to see more people play the game like that. The thing is, I keep using numbers to make it easier to notice and still it goes over few folks heads. When a game is mechanically inclined to favor a play style, in the given situation banditry, a lot of folks with be KoS bandits for -that- reason and that reason alone. This is the point SillySil has tried to get people to understand. Yes I don't kill unless is defensive, its my choice, makes the game harder for me. Bandits, actual bandits, have to work to be what they are (Kill all mofo's) however this logic is easy to do and if you can remotely play the game, easy to accomplish. The undecided 50% of the gaming world...will go with the second option simply and purely because its easier. I do not wish to see bandits punished, I just wish them to give the game something that Heroes get outta the game. Like I can't even get a bunch of loot and approach someone to give it them, unless they are fact a fresh spawn. Now some people -have- encountered friendlies. I am someone who hasn't. Well found one guy on a private hive. That aside 100% of the people I have ran into shoot at me, or Alt f4. -

Man did you even read the post...the balance issue isn't -per player- all characters have the same choices yes. The balance issue is that 80% of them choose to kill you for moving. -That- isn't balance. You are missing the point yet again good sir. Ideally you should have 50% banditry 50% heroes. Not 80% KoS 20% heroes? I know these numbers are not exactly right but its damn close. -

I don't have a fix for the unbalance issues. These threads, the reason I am present in them, is to try to make it known that PvP -should- if you kill me awesome, good jerp. I'm on the coast playing dayz. However there -should- be something that coastal folks gain from working together. To encourage it more. Because that was the original intend. You don't have a family to protect, a simulation of that would be awesome. The closest at all you get is if you have a friend, he breaks a leg, you can go get morphine. However if you guys have not noticed the amount of stories where people befriended someone, even started talking to them on a first name basis then later just caps them? Things like that. Again I can understand people going crazy -that- shit would happen. But as of now most of the DayZ players left are all like that. Again I don't mind if I get shot, I expect it. I expect to shoot some people. You are right if you wanna play how you play it should be your choice but a lot of people don't have a moral guidance system in gaming. So they just do what is easier. Banditry is easier. And if the game turns into just one big death match it won't stay alive. Its got the potential to be the greatest game ever created. It calls to such a big crowd of folks its dumb. You asked me how PvP should exsist, I tell you it should, yes. How to balance it...I have no clue. The only thing you can really do is give small PvE bonus' to people who prefer it. Thats the best option I can see. -

I don't know if you were reading or not, seems to be a forum habit, ya know not reading. 1: Let it be know I do not want the games population to be ALL KoS'ers (which its 80%) 2: I want Bandits to exsist, they bring an element to the game that is real and nice to have. 3: For you people that say it should be a moral question what players should choose to do need to understand there isn't a moral obligation in DayZ -that- is what the balance issue is coming from. I understand the world is full of people that would kill me and take my beans. It happens with out a zombie apoc...the issue. Considering the emotional attachment and moral obligations are MIA. Most people just kill you. So to give the game a balance something has to happen. 4: So for the game to end up like 25% bandits 25% heros 50% -what evers- would be awesome. Since its more beneficial to shoot someone take their stuff or remove the threat you got that extra 50% turning toward Banditry. Unbalancing the game. -

Ok considering you don't wanna read, fine, here is your flawed logic. Game -isn't based on PvP- it is -one- of the elements in the game. Rocket wanted it to be a threat NOT THE ENTIRE GAME. Right now KoSing isn't a problem I don't mind people doing it. The issue is -that is all there is- because its just simply set up to be mechanically better to just ROFLTSTOMP KOS ALT F4 EVERYONE .... That is not what DayZ is -suppose- to be. Again no one was -crying about senseless killing- you've missed that point in three threads now. What the issue is...there is no balance. Meaning -everyone is killing- well 80% of the population is. That wasn't what was intended. As of right now the DayZ mod is nothing more then any other FPS. For most people eating, drinking, and how cold they are doesn't even matter, they run into Electro find a gun and get shot. Or other wise die to the first person that sees them. Again let me say, I'm not bitching about KoS, since you seem to not realize thats not the issue. Its the fact that the mod is nothing more then CoD or BF3 with zombies in it. So what ever you keep thinking, stop. Think outside the box and realize that -this isn't a death match game- PvP is suppose to be in it, yes, but not like it exsists now. -

You know I laughed about this. Yes forums threads need to continue. Yes they know hackers are a problem the thing is if all the hacker threads disappeared they'd not believe it was as big a problem as say something else. Each thread about it does good and yes can get annoying but who knows. Maybe they thought they had the god mode script pinned down and this proves there is either another one or it wasn't stopped as though thought it was. (Purely example of coarse) -

As one of the guys mentioned. Steam doesn't need to be running to launch ArmA II once launched, the first time. I don't connect to steam when I play just to save resources. DSL isn't forgiving at times.

Who knows. God mode would explain it more then anything. If he wasn't hurt, didn't have shock he'd could have been delayed in the "Well if I alt f4 no one will know I have god mode on" but who knows. I just wanted to get it out there, didn't know if that 5 second rule was in place. Found it amusing someone basically combat logged 3 times in a 4 minute time span...was the cure all to what ail'd the person.

Yea my DayZ Commander 2 days ago after updating it suggest I don't have Combine operations, if I wanted to buy it. I said -no- then went on the way. It refuses to update unless i have Combined operation. So I just down load and manual install the patches and such now. -
I was actually excited because it'd been the first time I wasn't killed by a hacker, after experiencing it though...it is just as bad. I've made people do it by scarying them and such but never seen it happen this fast. That is my only issue. We all know the trama or what ever, shock, makes you go night night for 5 minutes? He -had- to be bleeding. So he would have -had- to had a friend on another server -in- stary ready with medical supplies or a [TWM] were on top of that. Get fixed run to the last tent then server hop all in about 3 minutes. I loaded a new character up, took off running and before I was 1k meters from my spawn he was back and in fighting shape...-that- is what bothers me about it.

You can, I do, However dayZ commander won't like you. You have to install the beta files by hand. I do play with just OA and ArmA II Free. Was playing as of this morning. -
I'm basically asking something like this? I mean yea I died. Oh noes! With in 20 minutes I had an M4 SD 2 mags, makarov 8 mags. Minor supplies. It just ... when I thought something was in place and it wasn't. I could be very wrong and it was never put into the game just couldn't find the post saying it was or will be. On a side note, yea Alt F4 is the cure all :)

No I understand the speed of Alt f4 it can be macro'd to a mouse button. The fail safe of the character persisting for 5 seconds is what I'm worried about. I thought for sure it was in the game already? With this though, there's no way. The ghosting servers and ending up on the coast failed too. Though i imagine that one isn't too bad as he wasn't gone long enough for him to "loot anything"

I don't that he did it, what my point is. While back I remember reading that this was such a problem, you got the ghost feature if you change servers too fast you end up on the coast, this fail. He some how managed to find healing to wake up waaay before his timer should have let him from logging out with Shock. And if his body was -there- for 5 seconds. It doesn't take 5 seconds to empty an L85. Not only that the bullets that did exit the gun hit but were not counted. Was the 5 second thing removed? Or is perhaps a new script? I honestly didn't know if I should have reported it as a bug or not, because the guy was back before I got over the hill in Otmel...like 1k meters tops...he'd logged into another server, epi-pen'd transfused, morphined? Then came back?
