A more 'suitable' format can be found HERE as this is a DayZ forum, not a battlefield one. -
AS50 TWS. Just checking with you guys so I don't get Banned.
Mentize replied to lttankor7's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes, whenever you log in, use a tent, or spawn, your inventory is stored in the server logs, I myself have seen multiple people log into my server with hacked weapons on them just from reading the logs. -

Mentize replied to lttankor7's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Both of those are illegal. Hackers weapons: You CANNOT be globally banned for using them, but many servers will ban you from their server if you are seen with one. Spawning illegal things is running scripts that are not meant to be in-game. (= Global ban.) However it does break server-hosting rules for banning people with them, as server admins are only allowed to ban for racist talk, but the majority do anyway. In short: Spawning = a global no no & Using = 90% of servers no no -
/Sigh, nobody reads the wiki any more... While blinking you'll lose blood at the rate of 20 per second. This means if you are at 12,000 blood it will take 600seconds(10minutes) to die. Obviously if both food and water are blinking this gets halved. (So 5minutes to die.) All the following still apply: 12000 - Max Blood < 9000 - Susceptible to "Knock out" from zombies < 8000 - Color and sound begin to fade < 3000 - May fall Unconscious This is a 1 out of 100 chance, calculated every second < 2000 - Black and white screen, loss of much hearing capability 0 - Player Dead

Tents: You use them to store items, up to 5 backpacks(That can have items in.), 10 weapons and/or tools, and 50 general items. They must be placed on flat-land. (So not inside a wall or anything.) Tents will only last as long as players use them. If a tent is un-touched for 7days, it will disappear. Tents should be saved at least 3 to 5 times to ensure the server gets the message. ---Saving a tent stores all items that were in the tent UPON SAVE. ---These saved items will re-spawn back inside the tent at every server restart. (So placing a DMR in the tent, saving the tent, and removing the DMR. Will result on the DMR being duplicated next server restart.(As You'll be carrying one, and one will appear in the tent.)) Tents can only be 'picked up' by the person who them down, during that lifetime! So if you place a tent and die, you will not able to pick it up. Only tent owners can save the tent. So if anyone besides the owner saves the tent, it will not work. Tents will reset to how they were when the tent owner placed them. What I consider to be bugs with current tents: *Flattening a tent does not delete it, it will re-build itself upon server restart with all the items it had when it was last saved (As if it had never been flattened.) *After picking a tent up, the server will still generate it on restart. (So say you place a tent, put items in, save it, remove the items, then pick the tent back up. On next restart the tent will re-build itself with all the saved items inside. As if it had never been emptied and picked up.)

Saving a vehicle or tent will set it & its inventory to that position, until it is moved or destroyed by another player. A server restart will re-set all vehicles/tents to their last save location + last save inventory.

ZOMBIE MECHANICS: ordinary zombies should sleep at night walking by them noisily could wake them up and make them more vicious then normal. --Yes lets make being able to see nothing of a night-time more dangerous, as if rocks that break my legs aren't enough :L COMBATING SNIPERS: any player with a sniper rifle excluding m14 or DMR should be auto kicked from the game unless he agrees to have his weapon deleted. --erm, so wipe a players inventory if they log out during combat? what about accident dissconnects or powercuts? GANG WARS: players could create gangs as in the takistan life simulator mode this would encourage players to team up and control certain areas to deal weapons food and drugs weapon mags and livestock. --So spontaneous clans? some people offer team-speak servers for this very thing, but yes seeing it in the game i'm sure will happen in the standalone version. SLEEPING: players should need to sleep to gain energy and stay alive as everyone knows you die if you dont sleep. --Real-Time sleep? why not just treat logging out as hibernation? EFFECT OF FLASHING HUNGER BAR: if the players hunger bar is flashing red he should not die for awhile but he should start to become weak and lose blood faster and start blinking and becoming skinny. --So dynamic changes based on hunger? seems cool, I know rocket said he'd love stuff like that in the standalone. BASIC SHELTER BUILDING: if anyone has seen a bear grylls show they will know what i mean. players could get wood and branches to create a shelter to sleep in and keep warm. --Rocket has already said he wants instanced underground building for the players to create whatever they'd like :)

So, recently our server was attacked by a hacker, moving all the vehicles to a single location, we used the log to pinpoint the locations of the vehicles, np. However only myself and one other member of our team of 4 are able to actually read the logs, so I set to create an Excel spreadsheet to decode the coordinates just by pasting them into a single cell. I've so far made it so that the program takes the correct X,Y,Z coordinates from the pasted data, however I do not know the exact height of the map so that i can flip the Y cords (As they are reversed in the logs) -Anyone know the exact height? its not 15,000 but its around that number. The rest of the formulas i feel need discussing on the Excel forums, rather then on here, although if anyone wants to help out feel free to PM me. (Working with IFs, LEFT, MID, RIGHT, and CONCATENATE formulas.)

Tents work fully, they even spawn back in if you flatten them. Admins can trace where tents are using the logs, wouldnt suprise me if it was a full-size admin camp that they would track you. Best thing to do: Put tents down on another server nearby > steal stuff, switch, store, repeat. >then name change so they cant follow you.

Drop pack > switch model > pickup pack. Is because when you switch cloths, your changing model, and the default model typically has no backpack, but dayz puts one on new spawns, so it bugs to putting no backpack on, but days scripts to give you a starter one :L hard to explain.

Just had a guy of mine log in and out, got the cordinates 112 017 to show up as 11298,13596.2,0.000839233 I punched 1129 and 1359 as you said XXXX and YYYY and got 11 139 as the outcomes. Care to explain more fully so a guy like me can use it correctly?

Remember: ARMA 2 was made for a very small specific community of hardcore WAR SIMULATORS, it was never intended for realism survival, looting or being alive for long-periods of times You paid for an unfinished game, that's like buying a can of soda before its been filled and saying 'OMG ITS BROKE' ....the content isn't finished yet. Side chat is disabled by the server admins choice, I know this because i am an admin of a server and the control panel gives us the option to enable Side chat. Community chooses to disable it, not Rocket.

Let's encourage more players to server jump in the barracks, or duplicate items, or hack them in while we are at? Realism or server-hopping / bug abuse.
-
I don't feel like farming that 2% drop-rate just cause I played the game correctly and survived more then 4hours.
-
no. You put the script to revive in the game, it will be hacked. Stop being butthurt cause a hacker killed you and turn fraps on to report them next time.

Not sure if hacker corpse, or just someone who lost their backpack
Mentize replied to nathiesk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's all legit items, guess the guy only wanted his backpack... -
Tracking: This can be done with DayZ Commander, it has a friends list that does not required acceptance from the person your adding, so unless you change your ARMA profile, they see what server you are on at all times. Avoiding this: Use different names, if you are stalked by a hacker, switch it up - go from say Mentize to Mentixe, that way they'll have to re-add Mentixe after finding out that's what you've changed too. Server size: Hackers come in 3 forms: Killers - These people typically target large-population servers and solely aim to kill everybody online, from teleporting and shooting them, to spawning everyone on a bunch of bear-traps. Medics - These will go to low-populated servers (Sometimes high) and will attempt to communicate with people, make friends, give out illegal rubbish, trying to be nice. But nobody loves them cause they're hackers (least the smart people don't) Kiddies - Kiddie hackers will try to be nice, they'll tell some jokes, try to insult you then when you dont respond to them you bruise their egos and they just kill / stalk / ruin the server. In short > Play low-pop till you feel like just going all out and killing people at the risk of dying yourself, then go high-pop.

Die > Run to corpse > Live your second life.

To be honest with how old your system is, you are probably better off saving £600/700 and just building one from scratch. Most gamers currently run a SandyBridge, i5 or higher, which is in the realms of £140+ along with a motherboard to support it.

1) Admins cannot see anything a normal player can't besides vehicle & tent locations. Him seeing you was either his 3rd person or a hack. 2) Yes it does, if he can't prove you hacked with logs or videos, he has broken the rules for owning a server. ^Taken from Server rules: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/55657-start-here-a-beginners-guide-to-dayz-servers-and-administration/
