You're looking at it a bit wrong there, they are not merely "adding new stuff" they are completely rebuilding the game from scratch. This allows them to totally strip all the unnecessary code from Arma 2 and build a proper foundation for all the features that they have planned. -
input - Bike, batteries, light bulb. output - Working headlamp for bicycle tools - toolbox fail chance - 0 enhancement - Night time bike rides action type - blueprint

They are completely redoing vehicles for the standalone, hopefully this includes them not exploding for no good reason. -

Hate to be picky but the reference to the Scorpion and Frog fable would have been more appropriate if you'd killed the guys BEFORE they took you to their car and gave you the DMR. -

How is that relevent to what is being discussed here?

Ive found that if you're pointing just slightly uphill you can slowly move the plane back by starting up the engine then instantly stopping it again, causes it to move back a few inch's, it takes bloody forever though.

The issue is not that guns can zero, its that on most servers you can just set a waypoint and know exactly how far away a target is.

The very basics of shooting over range are that a bullet is effected by bullet drop and wind. I ask for wind.

Yes, thats exactly it, I want game that is difficult to learn, whats so wrong with that? With increased difficulty comes increased reward, theres more lows but the eventual high is so much greater than what your average game can offer. Most companies are too scared too go this route because it does scare off a lot of players, but luckily it seems BiS and Rocket and willing to take that chance in order to create something special.

I really hope they do make flying heli's extremely difficult in the standalone now that you mention it.

That would be pretty sweet, they would have to redo a load of weapon models and add new config files for each variety, could take a bit of time.

As the above just said, you wont be crafting optics out of bottles and a bit of tube, you find the optic and add it to the standard rifle. Guns with attachments are NOT being removed from the game, they just wont spawn anymore, the only way to get them is to craft them, if you already have a gun with an attachment it wont be affected. though your M107 will be gone, as the M107 and AS50 are banned

Even with windage added you still have the problem of the AS50 being as easy to use up close as an M14, the whole being able to hip fire at a high rate and with accuracy thing is a joke anyway, the 50 cals just take it way too far,

As far as i understand it every new patch has to be ok'd by Rocket as DayZ is his creation and he still has overall control of it.

Agree it shouldnt be down to luck, it should be determined by the condition the weapon is in. which is why it probably wouldnt be possible for the mod as data cant be linked to individual weapons.

Any padlock or strongbox could easily be broken into with a crowbar or even a few bullets. the only way keep gear safe should be if you can hide it well enough, Of course tents are pretty terrible at this, you can see them a mile off. But the new patch will have the ability to bury gear in stashes which should be much easier to hide, though they do hold less gear.

Agreed, I'm all for more variety of civilian vehicles but making them harder to get going.

It would make players face the choice of do i go with a more powerful and accurate but less reliable gun or keep the trusty but weak AK-74, Its far from pointless.

If a heli is close enough and going slow enough to actually be a threat then its its not so hard to take them down with a DMR or MK 48 or similar.
