As above, if you can just tune into any old station then its going to get abused, and would much prefer to keep it all in game, Use green mountain, players have to repair the systems there so it can broadcast to the whole server, and/or have mobile military style transmitters that can be repaired and used, Music CD's and Mp3 players could be lootable for this purpose, also car radios/cd players. -
Depends which heli Littlebird - almost any gun can take it down very weak. Huey - Aim for the main rotor or the tail rotor, DMR, Mk48, M240 or M249 are best guns for the job MI-17 - Its a flying tank, even with well placed shots it can take a lot of hits, buts its also slow to maneuver so by the time the pilot has got it steady enough for the gunners to get a bead on you you've had plenty of time to either take out the gunner or spam the main rotor.

Yeah, this doesnt bother me at all in the mod as its just a mod, but really hope they sort it out for the standalone. As it is you could reason that as a result of the military attempting to aggressively quarentine the civilians a civil war broke out explaining all the burnt out wrecks and rubble everywhere, but with that in mind there should be more damage to the buildings.

Agree that everything should be busted up and difficult to repair, but guns should be rare, really make finding that AK-74 an event. Vehicles should be all over the place but so wrecked that most of the time you'll be lucky to salvage one or two good working parts from them.

This is the way i see it too, let people learn by their mistakes, and at the end of the day its all down to how intuitive things like controls and crafting will be, from what ive seen of the early inventory system i doubt a tutorial will be necessary at all.

This thread is months old man, you have no reason to think that your car will despawn, maybe if the server you are playing on is having database issues sure, but thats not a common problem. Thats not to say your car will definately be there when you get back on, there's no such thing as " a place where no one will find it" in dayz

Ah i see, well still, any PC thats running windows 98 will be so outdated that no new parts would be compatible, apart from the case if its a standard ATX design, Afraid if your laptop cant run the game then you're looking at getting a completely new PC. -

Combined Operations is a pack, it contains Arma 2 and Arma 2:operation arrowhead which is what you need for dayz. If your laptop is running windows 98 i'd say your chance's of playing dayz are...pretty non existent , best if you find out what your specs are and post them in this section http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/136657-can-i-run-it-ask-here-2/ -
Rockets mentioned NVG's would probably need batteries, so from that i'd assume its still in.

Weapons with attachments are not being removed, they just wont spawn naturally anymore, to get them you will have to craft them by finding the attachment separately.

Heli crash sites are still in game, the system changed a while ago so that they spawn over time rather than all at server start, this means the longer the server is running the more crash sites will be on at once. Also worth noting is that the system that spawns helis for private hives and maps other than Chernarus could be completely different, or simply configured differently.

One of the things i liked when first playing Dayz was the complete lack of a tutorial. saying that im not against an optional offline tut like suggested.
