    New to Dayz

Welcome There are some PVE servers about, dont know any to recommend but you should check here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/64-private-hive-discussion/ The standalone will be a totally separate game to the mod and Arma so you will need to pay again, but as it will be released as an alpha it will be pretty cheap to start with, rumours say about $15-$20 but thats not confirmed.

    You're not alone.
  4. Thats exactly what they have done :D
  5. If i remember correctly the main reason for not just using the Arma3 engine was that the was a very high potential for bugs as its still very new, Whereas using the take on helicopters engine as a base and building on it would give a lot more stability as it was already tried and tested.

Do this one next Orlok :D Its not in DayZ yet, but its the first thing i'm going to build when vehicle cutomisation comes into the standalone! Thats assuming Rocket understands the importance of adding a V8 supercharger to a russian taxi!

That looks better, i think putting glass at the rear rather than solid blue would help, also the side panes of glass should be the same tint as the front.

    Road blocks?

Toatally agreee. Working as intended i'd say :D
  9. Wouldnt read too much into it, Fraggles pretty loose with his beans, he's got bloody thousands of 'em.

    50 cal crybabies

Nope, it says removed from the loot table, its part of the proposed crafting system that they are working on, e.g, you find a standard M4A1, then you find a cco scope, then combine the two to get a M4A1 cco, its still work in progress.
  11. You could be wrong indeed. edit: just noticed you said "I hope i'm wrong" not "I could be wrong", this makes my snappy retort less effective, would you mind changing it?

Awesome, the deadly outdoor loo. One suggestion, there needs to be a few suicide victims at the base of the lighthouse.

    Road blocks?

As said, there is no official backstory, Here's how i see it, Civilian population start to become infected, weve no idea how long this takes, could be a matter of hours or days even weeks, but at some point the situation gets out of hand so the military are sent in to try and contain the infection, this means preventing people from leaving the area. But the civilians dont like that idea one bit, they want to get the hell out of there, normally they wouldnt have much choice, not much you can do against fully armed troops, unless of course the military also start to become infected throwing the whole operation into chaos, civilians manage to get hold of military equipment and a mini civil war breaks out. The roadblocks are put there by the civilians in a desperate attempt to disrupt the movement of troops who are at this point ordered to contain them by any means necessary. In the end its all futile, the infection is unstoppable and starts spreading out of the area leaving only a few survivors who seem to have a higher immunity to the virus.
  14. With that logic a backpack would only have one slot.

    Fireplace and meat cooking

Like the idea of making fires being more involved with a chance of failure, few vids here that might interest you, its not so difficult to get damp wood burning as you might think, but its true most people would struggle. And this is a neat craftable fire solution http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxcw3mnPgpE And looks like gas stoves will be in the standalone:) skip to about 0:50 in.
  16. pretty sure the quickbar will only be visible when you're in your inventory.
  17. The spray is disinfectant i believe,
  18. That second shot looks bloody gorgeous. good to see the inventory progressing too. :beans:

DayZ Double Developer Blog 14th May 2013

People are just getting frustrated because the same questions are getting asked and answered over and over. I'd say a new locked thread in the announcements section should be considered 'DayZ standalone progress updates' Keep it clear and informative, just so we have somewhere we can direct the casual forum browser.
  20. Just had a look in my files and i dont have glt.lhd.pbo have you installed any other mods? maybe they installed something in there that battleye doesnt like. I'd try doing as it says, remove the offending file and see what happens, dont delete it though, just save it somewhere.
  21. Ha, its like the 'have you tried turning it off and on again' response for anything steam related,
  22. Usually persistent .pbo errors are caused by some of your files being corrupt, have you tried verifying your cache files for arma2 and OA? https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

Been on the server 10 mins

elmod, not sure if you're aware of this but all DayZ servers are privately run, so each has its own admins, check the name of the server you were banned from and they might have a website address on there so you can contact them. But as others have said, seeing as you dont have anything invested in that particular server you save a lot of effort by just finding a different one, Theres plenty of good ones out there, but also plenty of shitty ones, its worth doing a bit of research.
