That's a very good question, We know its an old build, over 2 months according to Rocket, so all i can think is that it was recorded 2 months ago, and the footage only just got leaked. -
Thats not bad thinking. as long as theres still sufficient penalty for dying even on the easy servers.

Imagine SA using the ArmA III engine
fluxley replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think you mean Take on Helicopters, not world of tanks :D -
Yep, public=official, all characters are on one database so when swapping servers you keep all the gear on your player. tents and vehicles are only saved to that particular server. Theres only one public hive. Not to be confused with Official DayZ Origins servers, thats are a different mod. Technically buildings can only be added to private servers. but there may be a few exceptions out there. (I've seen hackers add permanent buildings to a public server before.)

I'd be all for it being insanely shitty when you start, only thing is would it too much for new players?

Can I run DayZ in high res with this?
fluxley replied to deeeeeerp's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You might be better off getting a decent i5 instead of the i7 as i read many times the i7 wont give you many gains when it comes to gaming, any money left over could then be put towards your GPU or even an ssd -

Yeah, Rocket has mentioned this before, but said he was concerned about TTP http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ttp -

What makes you say that? -
Seems to me NPC's are the easy way out. The real challenge is making a game that gives players enough tools to keep themselves entertained with only player made content. I believe its possible, but it sure as hell isnt going to easy.

Sorry, but with those spec's i dont think you'll ever get a decent frame rate. Try posting here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/136657-can-i-run-it-ask-here-2/page__st__180 maybe someone else has had experience with a similar system.

There's a very good chance there wont be any vehicles at release as they are aiming to completely redo the whole vehicle system, however in an interview today Rocket did say they are considering releasing with the old arma2 vehicles and then changing them at a later date. I haven't seen anything about whether or not heli's will be in the game. But remember, the standalone will be released as an alpha, this means that many planned features Will be missing to start with, and those that are in may very well be broken. -

Noob Topic-How many kills is it to be a bandit?
fluxley replied to HWBMx's topic in New Player Discussion
Also, when your humanity goes below 2500 it slowly rises back up to 2500, making it possible to kill an infinite amount of people without ever getting the bandit skin. not that i condone such things. -

To be fair, what we have in game is a military dressing which it says here is 10cmx19cm http://boundtree.co....g-10-x-19cm-pad If you were to fold that length ways its going to be about the same as a G17 mag.

What kind of custom maps would you like to see in SA?
fluxley replied to dajeroen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is purely what we would like to see, not what is possible. -
Noob Topic-How many kills is it to be a bandit?
fluxley replied to HWBMx's topic in New Player Discussion
Nope, you wont know you have the bandit skin until you either change back to a civilian skin, or die. -
Will the new server architecture combat the exploit where people can simply remove files from their client enabling them to see through buildings and trees?

I'm hopeful that the new server architecture will fix that particular exploit. -
What kind of custom maps would you like to see in SA?
fluxley replied to dajeroen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A map 10-20 times the size of Chernarus with lakes, rivers, lush forests, snow capped mountains, huge expanses of countryside dotted with towns and villages and the occasional large city with a mixture of old and new architecture, road and rail networks, a long varied coastline with beaches, cliffs, port towns and summer resorts. all beautifully blended into one believable immersive world where you can lose yourself for weeks surviving off the land or scavenge the cities with infected and bandits around every corner... -
Sshh guys!...keep your voices down..she's right here in this thread...

I think the ssd probably plays a big role, I've read arma accesses the hard drive a lot when loading up textures , With a fx4100 o.c to 4.2ghz, an msi R6850 and 12gb 1600mhz ram i was lucky to get an average of 25-30 frames running through cherno or elektro. But i only have a standard 7200rpm hard drive. pretty sure thats where the bottle neck was. need to try ramdisk one of these days.

Standalone modding support
fluxley replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its more to do with its the only way to really lock down the hacking situation. Arma never had the same problem with hackers, well not until dayz came along.
