which is why i mentioned the standalone will have lots of zombies AND they will be fast, which is clearly more of a threat than lots of slow zombies. -
1.62.xxxxxx is the arma2 beta patch version 1.7.7.1 is the current dayz mod version you need both to be up to date to play heres the links for manual download arma2 beta patch *important* the required patch is 103718 http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php dayzmod 1.7.7.1 http://dayzmod.com/f...od-1771-hotfix/ download the full client files rather than the patch just to be sure. either download and install maually or just check that you have those versions on play with six. alternatively you could try using DayZcommander http://www.dayzcommander.com/ most people find it much simpler to use than playwithsix as it is purely for dayz and other dayz mods.

I much prefer the dayz/28 days later take on "zombies", In Dayz the infected are still living human beings driven insane by a virus, for me the idea of being forced to murder these poor unfortunates in order to survive is far more compelling,immersive and disturbing than the traditional Romero living dead who are nothing more than slow moving cannon fodder. For all you know someone out there could be on the verge of breakthrough cure for the infection and here we all are happily slaughtering them, the psychological effects that would have on most people in a real life situation are huge. In the current mod they are very limited to how many zeds they can have spawned in at one time, this should be greatly improved in the standalone. so we will have numerous fast psychopaths chasing after us, now thats some scary shit. -

I've spawned as far north as Nizhnoye a few times. just south of berezino. -
Yeah, i'm getting this a lot too, happened about 6 times yesterday, and if you're close enough they can and will give you a slap.

stop limiting your search to the hospitals, around 40-50% of the antibiotics ive found recently have been at industrials,residentials and military spawns, they can spawn any where.

yeah being in close proximity to an infected player can also make you ill, not sure how it spreads exactly, but in my experience it seems very random.

Hospitals would be stripped clean within days, so would everywhere else you'd expect to find supplies, that's where your idea of logical locations is flawed for me. sorry dayzforumer. i'll say no more. -
The zombies in dayz are living diseased humans, not the walking dead so this will never happen.

Just wait for it to be released and then buy it :D There will be no limit to keys on release, but we dont have a date for it yet, hopefully soon.

I'm pretty sure the only reason the hospitals windows are unbroken is because thats how the model for that building is in arma 2, there's no grand design behind it. Why has my survivor got no gear? Maybe i've just been robbed by bandits (the uber rare ones that dont kill for no reason) Maybe i was on a boat that capsized losing all my possessions at sea Maybe i'd laid down to rest one night in a shed and got woken by a bunch of zeds forcing me to run for my life leaving all my gear. My assumption that a decent amount of time has passed since the outbreak is based mainly on the evidence i see all around the map, there's signs of very heavy military presence all over the place, i find it dificult to believe that all those roadblocks and burntout vehicles could of just appeared overnight. -
And so the myth begins.

I'm assuming you mean going to a hospital is no longer the best place to find medical supplies? The new loot makes sense to me, in a situation like this with people all around becoming ill to some mysterious disease and all society breaking down i'm pretty sure one of the first places to get raided would be the hospital for medical supplies. These supplies would then either get used up or get spread around as people succumbed to the illness or got their face bit/shot off. And from a gameplay point of view it encourages players to slow down a bit, now that shitty little village with only a handfull of residential spawns is worth stopping at just in the hope of grabbing some antibiotics. -

This seems relevant Its intro text found in the code of the current mod but for some reason unused, describes the infection as a Prion disease that instills a strong desire for violence, they're not trying eat you they just want to kill you. -
