There's currently an issue with the arma beta patches that causes 50cals to have an auto lock on box appear on targets, until this gets resolved don't expect to see any weapons of this sort in the mod. here it is in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goc00WJkMIc

Agree, this is the way i see it too, So what if he spends an hour or two playing a game to relax that doesn't mean he isn't taking dayz's development seriously, I'm pretty sure they are all putting in more than enough hours over at the dayz dev team right now.

First, make sure you are using the correct Arma 2 beta patch 103718, the newer beta patches can cause problems. We can't give advice without knowing your system spec and game settings, but one good tip to remember is that some settings give better FPS when set to high, this is because some high settings force the gpu to be used more than the cpu, spreading the work load better. -

Was about to start a thread on this myself but i'll bump this instead of making another. Currently a player who logs in once for 2 minutes then doesn't play again for days can be seen as more successful in terms of days survived than someone who play and survives for many hours straight. Seeing as this is a survival game an accurate measure of the actual amount of time that a character survives in game is essential. It would be a very simple fix, and sure they can implement it any time after the release but i feel it needs to sorted from the start as it represents the most basic goal of a dayz player, survival.

Spawned into a pitch black server, while trying to figure out how to get the flashlight working heard a vehicle pull up, then footsteps, i'm thinking ok now would be a good time to figure out how to communica...BLAM!! the guy shoots me in the knee, hops back into the vehicle and drives off. Five minutes later i've managed to crawl into the small industrial at the Drakon dock, I'm cowering in the corner surrounded by zeds with no escape. thats when i knew this was the game for me. -
I'll do it myself then.. credit to the sausage king for the grooming of the mane.

For it to show up on your dayzcommander recent list it would have to be run from your computer. Either someones sneaking into your room or you have a split personality.

Dean has said they are looking at a system like this where logging out leaves your body behind for x amount of time. An issue with that though is that a player could log out of one server and immediately join another having a situation where the players character is on two servers at the same time. As a fix they could have a timer preventing you from joining another server straight away, this would also help combat ghosting where a player jumps to a different server to relocate and then go back to the original server.

I believe the standalone pre alpha is currently downloaded and updated through steam as it will be when it is released to us. thats why it shows up there. -
The AI in arma doesnt have the same collision detection as the player models, and even if they did have access to the source code to change that the AI just isnt smart enough to be able to navigate the map without getting stuck on every object it came across, so sadly i wouldn't expect these issue's to ever be fully resolved.
