SA OREGON TRAIL STYLE IDEA!!!
fluxley replied to TheOldManoftheNorth's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Having a class system interferes with how players decide to play before they've even started playing. its not possible to have enough different classes to cater for all the varieties of play style. I much prefer the idea of allowing people's actions in game determine how their character develops, This can be acheived by having a chance of failure for actions. e.g If i spend most of my time fixing vehicles over time my success rate will increase. A simple mechanic like this will add immersion and people will grow attached to their characters because if they die they lose a lot more than just gear. -
July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"

In terms of game development, i consider Rocket to be the only man for the job. In terms of Managing peoples expectations and PR in general, He's far too casual with what he actually says leading to endless speculation and rumours. I personally like that he speaks his mind as it gives an insight into the thought processes involved in developing a game, but sadly people take everything so literally that its got to the point that he ends up regretting almost everything he comes out with. I imagine there's lots of other game devs out there watching DayZ unfold and nodding their heads saying "Yup, that's why we don't openly discuss game development with the public" -

The Lada Riva, top speed of about 82mph / 131kmh Landrover 110 defender, depends on which model as theres lots of variations, but about 90mph / 144kph is realistic. No idea what make the SUV is based on.

Why do peoples actions need to dictate their appearance?
fluxley replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really think there is some truth in that, I've been in enough rough pubs to know that it doesn't take long to suss out who's friendly, who'd rather be left alone and who's pint you sure as hell better not spill. There's always exceptions of course. -

Make sure to put your own personal opinion into quotation marks, it'll be official then. -
Why do peoples actions need to dictate their appearance?
fluxley replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It will be interesting to see if the combination of the standalone having no humanity system and a large selection of clothing will lead to a natural way of identifying someones play style. Will bandits tend to go for clothing that makes them look badass? Maybe the friendly players will consider practicality over looks. -
A Gun You Never Found Before?
fluxley replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The only gun i haven't found yet is the recently added RPK. And the M60 isn't in Vanilla, only modified versions. -

2km was just a conservative guess based on the fact that the current mod is limited to something like 1200 or 1600m view distance, can never remember how far it is exactly. -

Thats part of the new server structure but thats not what he's talking about regarding the client bubble, The basic system is that all information sent from the server to the client is currently sent to all clients, even if they are opposite ends of the map, not only is that a waste in terms of data being sent but that info could also be used by hacked clients for esp cheats. Say for example someone accesses a tent in Skalka, the client sends a request to the server and the server responds, that response from the server will also be received by all other clients on the server which means someone with esp could detect this action from Skalisky.. The client bubble as i understand it basically means that the client will only receive info from within a certain area around them, maybe 1.5-2km radius at a guess, drastically reducing the amount of info that esp hacks can see in one go. Its not an end to esp by any means but it will certainly help. -
You'll have to enlighten me as i haven't watched the walking dead much, but what would make a map based off of the series good?

Playing with the Deuce of Hearts...
fluxley replied to cindyanne1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The journal is still a work in progress, it doesn't currently show what your humanity is just whether you are bandit, survivor or hero. there's no real details what they have planned for it. -

My god that video is so full of shit, he even admits in it that he got his info from another random ass website. In a way its pretty interesting seeing first hand how terrible the internet is for actually getting accurate information. -

AKM AKs-74u AK-74 AK kobra i only put the 74u over the 74 because i like its style, technically the 74 is better due to better range. -

You could try just setting battleye to kick when they are placed, be better than having to deal with legit players being banned. -
I think the vehicle speed is so low due to server performance limits, maybe this will change with the standalone. And yeah would love there to be manual gearboxes.

Just checked the loot table for 1.7.7.1 and can confirm satchels are still in.
