Yeah, its better than what we currently have but it would still be possible to see over walls while running. Personally I just can't see a good reason for 3rd person being in a game like dayz. -

Not quite, the idea is that you dont get the option to zoom out whenever you want, the camera would automatically move back only if you are running. and so prevent people from just standing behind a wall and using 3rd person. -
Barns, can't stay out of them, give me an Enfield, winchester or CZ550 a hunting knife, waterbottle and some basic rations and i'm a happy chap.

ha, good point, i was just going off the other video with rocket where he takes blood and then crafts the IV kit. Watch from 1m30s But remember, its very much a pre-alpha ;) -

Like i said, with practice they can be landed almost anywhere. especially if you land going uphill, it'll stop almost instantly, just be sure to turn the thing pointing down the hill again before stopping as it might not have the power to get going again. If you're looking to hide a plane somewhere then the last place you want to land is on any kind of runway, thats the first place people will look.

I wasn't being exactly serious with that video, but you really can land the biplane on almost any small field on the map, there's certainly no need for dedicated runways.

Not against the idea but don't think its really necessary, you'd be surprised where you can land the biplane.

I don't see anyone one flaming him, people are just surprised to hear of servers disabling direct chat.

You can now recombine mags, just right click and select recombine. this way you can always have a full mag in your gun but don't end up carrying a load of half empty mags.

I can't even think of a bad reason to remove direct chat, never mind a good reason.

Gonna guess you need blood in the bag before you can craft an IV starter kit. Considering its a brand new feature and Matt is not actually a developer, i wouldn't expect him to know the ins and outs of a pre alpha build that is constantly changing. -
Wow, what servers do you play on? never come across one with direct chat removed. are you sure its not an issue with your client?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, pretty sure if you had the wrong version you just simply wouldn't be able to join the server. -

I'm a first person only kind of guy too, it really adds to the tension and overall improves the whole experience for me. But there are some flaws to first person that need to be addressed. and hopefully they already have been. Peeking over/around walls, Arma 3 has the new stances which look to work great but i've not seen much more than passing comments about this for the standalone that have led me to believe we may not have the same variety of movement. Maybe one of the guys that have played the pre alpha could comment on this. Vehicles, certain vehicles have a pretty severe blind spot caused by the roof support beam which in real life you would naturally tilt your head to see around. They could add the ability to tilt your body with the Q and E keys while in a vehicle. this would also help when piloting a heli, being able to tilt and look down would really improve things greatly. Reversing, we need working mirrors, again arma 3 has this so im hopeful standalone will too. And as GoldenPSP mentioned some kind of steadycam effect for bikes and Atv's, never really thought of this but i guess i just got used to the idea of these vehicles being powered by a washing machine. Personally i'd want all servers to be first person only, no crosshair, no waypoints, no death messages and when you first spawn in a hand comes out the screen and slaps you in the face a few times. Having these as optional just makes the game easier which IMO goes against the original aim of creating a brutal and unforgiving survival experience. I doubt this will happen though so i just hope they will work to improve first person and in doing so encourage more people to play on first person only servers. -
