  1. New material for the just seen rocket thread is always welcome.
  2. Totally agree i'm simply expressing my opinion. I'm not trying to tell anyone how they should play, just voicing my opinion on how i want the game to be made.
  3. As it is currently 3rd person is quite literally easy mode, I believe it greatly undermines the whole concept of DayZ being a hardcore survival simulator. If they can come up with a system that allows 3rd person to be used without people being able to simply see things that their character shouldn't be able to see then great, everyones happy right? If your answer to that is "No, i want to use 3rd person because there's less risk." then frankly i have no sympathy.
  4. Excuse me, it was late, i actually thought you were making a serious suggestion. Or should i say, i actually thought you thought it was a serious suggestion.
  5. If the icon takes damage then its no different to them just actually sticking their head around the corner, making the whole thing pointless. All you manage to achieve is breaking everyones immersion by having floating orbs above peoples heads.
  6. The idea of having a floating icon indicating someone using third person ignores the issue of someone being able to see you without putting themselves in danger. If any kind of 3rdp is to used i'd rather it prevented people from being able to see around corners when they simply shouldn't be able to but still allowed people to see their character as they played.
  7. I'd much rather see the characters head.

    Standalone suggestion

That pretty much happens anyway every time someone dies at the NWAF, doesn't stop them just running straight back there in the hope of getting their gear back.

    Standalone suggestion

The best idea i've seen so far is to have zombies attracted to bodies, and the longer they are there ripping it apart the more the gear gets damaged, Not only would this make running back to your body a waste of time but it would encourage more up close and personal player killing as shooting someone from a distance would mean theres a good chance that by the time the killer gets to the loot some of it would be destroyed.
  10. From rockets twitter, no idea how embed this properly. Make history! Help a less-shit-than-at-e3 DayZ pre-alpha win the IGN peoples choice awards! http://t.co/SMUxvBYrAP — Dean Hall (@rocket2guns) https://twitter.com/rocket2guns/statuses/371259943019495424
  11. This was touched on here http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1ktf9o/gamescom_2013_dayz_standalone_all_new_gameplay/cbtcczg?context=3 Looks like we could see subtle differences to handling.
  12. People tend to choose whats best for themselves, not whats best the overall game experience, these decisions should be made by the developers. Design by committee generally results in mediocrity. So, no i don't agree with letting people choose for themselves just for the sake of it.
  13. Any kind of manual/tutorial should consist of, Take all previously gained gaming knowledge.. Discard.. Apply common sense and logic.
  14. Combat logging from zombies, oh the shame!
  15. I believe the female actually uses the same skeleton as the male, probably why she looks a bit tom boyish, but yeah, maybe tweaking the animations would help here. But to be fair, if you're going to survive this far into a zombie apocalypse, male or female you're going to have to be a bit tougher than average.
  16. Seems to me quite the opposite is happening with dayz. Rocket is making the game he always wanted to make, if anything the standalone will be far less accessible than the mod due to the extra complexity of just simply surviving.
  17. Trouble is if you allow player to cut down trees, there would eventually be no trees and only structures.. Interesting idea, but i can't see them ever implementing a system where you have to potentially run over 7km before you can change server.
  18. Question is how does the game recognise whats is outside or inside the area? And having a player spawn somewhere that they didn't log off just adds more problems, if you log in and the game has put you somewhere else you automatically know that theres other players in that area without them knowingly giving away their position.
  19. No idea about how possible this is but i really like the idea. The fact that you are moving objects around rather than creating new objects would surely address the worry of players being able to create an endless amount of structures that would put too much stress on the server. The real problem with any kind of above ground base building in dayz is the danger of people infiltrating an area through server hopping. Of the top of my head, they could make so that if you are within a certain distance of other players the spawn in process could be extended giving the defending players ample time to spot the player entering the and kill them. Problem with this is there's always a chance of someone unwittingly spawning in that area not knowing that it was a defended position.
  20. He also said that even though you could clear an area there would be a possibility of roaming zeds entering the area, possibly attracted to the sound of gunfire.
  21. Nice work, probably the best bit of journalism i've read concerning the standalone.
  22. Go to video options and turn post processing off
  23. You'd still be able to see over walls without exposing your body. it just means you'd have to move the whole character rather than just the head.
