its possible that the server you are trying to join has updated to a newer patch but hasn't changed its description and so still shows as 1.8, try joining with 1.8.0.1 or 1.8.0.2 -

They really haven't had a lot of time. much of the past 10 months has been spent making huge changes to the game engine and the rest of the time has been spent coding the core gameplay mechanics from scratch with very small scale testing, there has been no alpha test yet for the standalone. -

An exploit i can see with this is, i could have a camp within 10 minutes run of say the nwaf somewhere nice and out the way, go looting at the airfield on a different server, change back to my camp server, run to camp, drop all my gear off, then reconnect to the other server and effectively fast travel back to the airfield to do some more looting. i'm sure theres other ways it could be abused too. -

Would be more effective if it prevented players from joining any other server on the hive for 10 minutes. otherwise they can just use the 10 minutes to relocate. this would also hinder those that server hop just to cherry pick gear from multiple servers and server hopping spawn campers etc. -

What weapons do Hero's normally carry?

Really i'll grab anything that comes my way, but my prefered loadout is Revolver, Hatchet, Sa-58v and a CZ-550. -
Also sometimes server admins will choose to wipe the database for a fresh start, only on private hives though.

NVG's are the first thing that come to mind, but really i doubt it would matter what it was, just the fact that something is rare is enough of a reason for some people to waste money, makes em feel special.

In the standalone, unlike arma, all calculations will be handled by the server, the client will pretty much just handle graphics display and convert info from the server into actions that the player see's, so i think there would be far more to it than just a few tweaks and adding a singleplayer button.

Thats not a quote from rocket, thats a quote from an article written by a journalist that has no idea he's talking about interpreting the fact that the standalone will be using the RV engine to mean that it will be using the arma2 engine. The standalone is based the Real Virtuality 3 engine the same as arma 2, but it has been heavily modified to work more like an mmo where most if not all the calculations are done by the server not the client. They've said this should give much better performance. 3rd person view isn't really anything to do with the engine, but there has been a lot of talk about it and the last we heard from rocket on the matter was that they are looking at ways to reduce the advantage you get from using 3rd person.

1.8.0.2 is 1.8 with some bug fixes, you have to be running the same version that the server you are trying to join is running.

Revolver. Used to be the g17 just cause its all round great, but now i always go for the revolver for the accuracy, great sight and theres ammo everywhere. plus the light on the g17 is pretty redundant now thats its bloody full moon nights on every server.

Dynamic Zombie Sandbox uses the same map and models as dayz apart from the zombies, they are both mods of arma so will look very similar. If you don't have arma 2 operation arrowhead then you're not playing dayz. -

You sure you're playing dayz? Dynamic Zombie Sandbox is a totally separate mod and has nothing to do with dayz. -
