They do have plans to combat server hopping but nothing is in place just yet. Characters being deleted when changing servers is a bug that they are aware of not a feature. -

Its pretty random at the moment, some bodies despawn some don't, they are aware of the issue.

Pretty much all the sounds are placeholders at the moment, they intend to redo everything when the more game breaking issues are fixed.

As others have said, gun sounds are pretty bugged at the moment, Had a friend overlooking stary while two of us looted the town, he fired a mosin round off at no more than 200m away and neither of us heard it.

To check which version you have, start the game and look to the top right in the main menu. Then look at the server list and it will tell you which version the servers are running. The current release build is 113860. To get the correct version, first go to steam, right click on dayz>properties>betas and select NON-opt out of all beta programs. Then Local files>verify integrity of game cache and steam will update to the released build You can also set steam to automatically update. steam>right click DayZ>properties>updates>High priority-always auto-update this game ASAP.

Not sure if this will help, but you may be trying to join release build servers with the experimental build. To check Go to steam, right click on dayz>properties>betas and select NON-opt out of all beta programs. Then Local files>verify integrity of game cache and steam will update back to the released build

Don't know where the revovler spawns, but i have seen the ammo for it in the barracks. The shotgun was in during pre-alpha testing but it was very bugged, as i haven't seen it since release i think they just removed it for now. And yes, the only other guns are the M4, Mosin, FNX45 pistol and now the revolver.

Their AI was completely redeveloped, which means we need to come up with new (more efficient) methods of their interaction with the world, such as collision, as the ArmA way is not designed for thousands of AI to operate at once on this scale. Loot doesnt respawn over time now, so you need to leave the areas that have already been looted.

The long range scope is for the Mosin rifle. The only body armour i've seen is a stab proof vest, its blue and has PRESS on the front.

There's a lot of bugs and a lot unfinished/not yet added features, and a high chance of losing all your gear to a glitch or even database wipe. But despite all that i am enjoying it a lot. its a big improvement over the mod and has huge potential as the updates come rolling in. -

No, the mod and the game are totally separate. -
Its not working currently, should be fixed in the next build, so for now you can only use the can opener or the m4 bayonet.

RIP V3S, you took those DMR shots like a champ but that ever so slight impact with the tree was the final nail.

With two handed weapons dont use the crosshair to aim, The weapon needs to have actual contact with the zombie to hit them. Most weapons apart from the axe's will do little damage unless you get a good headshot, by hitting them in the head you can knock them down for a few seconds which is when you need to lay into them with more headshots. Also some weapons work best when you press spacebar first to raise them up, baseball bat and wrench work best like this.
