Bandit / Survivor KILL ON SIGHT suggestion
Bental replied to vicious9011's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This feels similar to the karma system someone suggested. I like them both. As a die-hard do-gooder, I dislike getting axed in the bag after saving someone else's ass -
High ranking military zombies + Bulletproof vests?
Bental replied to theboat's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think it sounds cool, though they are heavy and would weigh you down considerably - and the Z. Duffle Bag would prevent him from running or stacking wouldn't it? Would have thought a z would ditch it pretty quick. -
They're easy to loose. Find a barn or other big building. Stand inside, let them follow you in an get close, run away. By the time they are outside, you are long gone. Otherwise, look for steep inclines and zig zag up it so you don't slow down.

Riis: not at all like that. I get killed in the wilderness more than a city. But then, I prefer total evasion. If someone fires at me, I'd rather run. Yesterday, I saved a survivor with an axe from a group of zombies. I gave him painkillers, morphine, a transfusion. I turned around and he axed me in the back of the head shouting "YOU MAD BRO?!" To be honest, not really. I'd do it again (except a mental note of his name). Have you also never heard of the radio? Last time I was killed, I was in a tiny town in the middle Of nowhere, 8 people on the server including me and my mate. We were filling water bottles at a pump and got sniped. You repeat "REALIZAM HURDUR" but seem to forget that realistically, food will not respawn, people will not skip across dimensions like a fat kid across candy store isles, still water from ponds will kill you within a day, fencing wire is very easy to destroy, everyone needs to go to the bathroom sometimes, you must sleep in real life for hours a day (leaving you a very vulnerable target for a hungry zombie to happen across). Zombies would roam the forests in greater numbers, they would be absent from the cities due to being killed en masse (their primary food source often happens to be armed to the teeth), they must stumble slowly towards you in doors (their mothers apparently brought them upright) and have a total phobia of any surface above water. Honestly, I could go on. What you fail to realize is a total real life sim in a zombie apocalypse does not exist, and will NEVER exist as a zombie apocalypse is an impossible scenario. A game does not sacrifice fun for realism. The fun in this game happens to hinge on a believable level of realism, but it is a fine line between no longer fun and no longer believable. Do you really think a help to good samaritans, knowing who they can help and who will stab them in the back and laugh like the special kid in class will break the game? If its no big deal to you, why fight it so vehemently? I don't buy your story. You reek of a player who delights in murdering, which is fine, but you see it unreasonable to even discuss strategies to level the playing field, choosing instead to close with "Get used to it". /rant. I am completely in agreement of a karma system reset on death. Values need to be worked out, and other actions such as giving aid should be considered, exploits such as farming with a mate etc. But yes, please!

The only viable one there would be weapon jams. Even then, most commonly found weapons (shotguns, AK variants) do not jam much, if ever. Ammo can be dud, but again so rare would it be worth it? Players don't survive nearly a fraction of the time it would take for most items to wear out or break (excluding incorrect usage)

Living off the Land, Disease and other things
Bental replied to Oompa's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Because it becomes to tedious and not fun. That, and malnourishment doesnt happen in the time frame that most people spend alive. It takes a long time to develope. Also, hunger is pretty accurate. Perhaps you get hungry a little too quickly? But covering that distance is realistic. As for water consumption, perhaps you should try running 4K and see how thirsty you get. The body sweats more than you realize, and it'd be quite easy to go through that much water if you were not careful. As for infection, you'd be very, VERY unlucky to get sick from tinned food. There's a reason it's stocked for years in bunkers. Full of preservatives, and it will not spoil. As for water, I'm in favour of adding another status to water bottles - unboiled. Drinking still water is always a dangerous idea, and only an enema is a viable way to absorb dirty water in a serious situation. This could add another tool too - pots. Cant boil water in a canteen. -
To be honest I see this as a griefer tool. There are several reasons I'd oppose it. A) not many doors have looped handles that would lock them shut. B) how to remove them if a person barricades themselves in and server hops. C) griefing.

Little gear change/improvement (medicine stuff)
Bental replied to SkipPL's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A box of headache tablets would be roughly the same size as a pistol magazine.. Marginally smaller. A box of 50 .22 rounds is actually smaller than a 12 pack of Panadol. Edit: although your medicine pouch reminds me. Perhaps the Czech chest pouch could actually be worn on the chest and not replace your backpack? This idea has been thrown around a bit. -
Bikes are the most common vehicle in the world. They should be everywhere!
Bental replied to auraslip's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
At the least, could we have more bikes, but rare in working order? Keep repair kits quite rare too? Find them in shops and industrial areas? -
+ 1 to this! To add on, instead of not being as to find them on account of the player lying on them, could they have a chance of breaking instead? Like, a miss and striking concrete would damage them more than a soft target (flesh). Also, how about a tool we can find - quiver. Or craft one out of animal hide/cloth or something? Can carry one quiver with 10 or so bolts in it max, anything beyond stacks in 5 in your inventory? I mean, a small pistol is 5 slots. A bolt (smaller when 5 are bunched together) take 5 slots.

For the most part, I really think the barbed wire is fine. The only issue is the difficulty in selecting it just right. Doesn't it make sense that toolboxes should be hard to find? They would be rarer to find than most other survival items as in the real world are only used frequently by a niche - tradesmen and diy guys. Even then, doing laps of industrial buildings in the cities will procure one eventually. It makes no sense in being difficult to remove. As some one said earlier who gas actual experience dealing with it, removal is not hard due to its folding nature. Metal gloves, a few cuts and it becomes unusable. How can anyone who argues against this refuse to be labeled as a griefer with a straight face? Also, could we restrict fence spawns to military camps (being military application wire)?

Saw my friend get knocked out in slow motion. For a couple of seconds I thought "Is he going to belt that zombies somehow?" Then he fell over. Poor bastard. Also got killed and lost a lot of nice stuff from it. I died and when I respawned, lag was bad. Use a GTX590 and i7 2600k. Gave up. Also can't seem to vault over wire any more.
